Seems like a beginning of a wonderful quest. Whoever wrote this book must be very familiar with this realm and teleportation methods. Magic user and a scholar at that. So, finding this creature (I'm guessing it won't be a human since they are almost non-existent here) might be instrumental in returning home without ending as goblin chow.
