- IF YOU FIND THE VIDEO HELPFUL IT WOULD BE APPRECIATED IF YOU WOULD CONSIDER SUBSCRIBING, THANK YOU.............................Instructions on replacing the fuel filter on a Holden Colorado 3 litre diesel . I purchase filters from brettstruck.com.au . Part number for this filter is FE 0025 . The video contains visual instructions, not actual removal of filter.
Thanks for the video. would love to see a whole series of these covering the regular maintenance that we can do ourselves to keep our utes running well.
Thanks heaps John I couldn't even find it under the bonnet very helpful video!
Thank you, glad that it helped.
The filter kit for the RC Colorado diesel from brettstruck is part number KIT2002, and includes the filters which are equivalent to Ryco oil Z600 ; air A1618 ; fuel R2656P. I have seen Donaldson kits ( X902857 ) for sale for around the same price, at just under $70 including postage. As some places want $35 just for the oil filter, the kit is a decent option.
A good video however you must clamp top fuel line from fuel tank before you begin. Otherwise fuel keeps siphoning from tank.
Thanks, however we had no trouble at all with fuel being delivered from the tank as the fuse had been removed and the pump was inactive. I did have someone comment several years ago that they had diesel flowing however I believe that they kept the ignition on and that caused the issue...... Clamping the fuel line is certainly a good additional measure.
No keys in ignition. If I hadn’t clamped the top fuel line the whole tank would have drained. I thank you for your video, it was a big help. Just letting you know what happened with mine and may happen to others.
Thanks for that...... bit of a mystery why some vehicles continue to draw the fuel towards the filter and others do not.@@rogerajohn8193
Thanks John, fantastic video, all the information I needed to tackle the job myself.
Thank you, glad that it helped you.
I have a 2009 model and I was really surprised when I did the first filter change. For a 4x4 its a ridiculous place to have a filter. I haven't bashed it yet but I know the day will come. I'm currently working on a bash cover just in case.
I agree, and the cover is a very good idea. I have a Rodeo TFS55 and there is a sensor beside the gearbox which controls idling and the speedo, but is completely exposed and easily damaged by sticks and shrubbery. The vehicle runs like a hairy goat if it gets damaged.
Thanx... 10/10 mate👍
Thank you for your comment. Much appreciated.
Awesome video thanks mate
Great video, thanks John. Were there any symptoms to look out for that made you change the fuel filter? Stuttering, loosing power, hard to start? or was it just preventative maintenance?
It is my neighbours vehicle and i bought him a set of filters as he was being ripped off by his supplier, over $50 just for the oil filter, and a fuel filter came with the set and he decided to change it. I recall that the ute had about 130,000 ks on it when we changed the filter and it was jet black however he had not been having issues with the engine. I have driven it and it is a good vehicle. We do have a few problems with dirty diesel around here ( Fraser Coast Q'ld ) so it was worth doing.
Technically you’re not supposed to pre fill fuel filters. Screw the canister back on, take out the bleed screw on top of the housing and the primer will do the rest
I am happy to be mistaken but I do not recall saying anything about pre-filling the fuel filter housing. I thought that I was quite clear about priming the fuel system before attempting to start the engine.
@@johnvienta7622the part about draining into a clean container to re use. Im assuming now you meant pouring it back into the tank? That’d be fair enough. I misinterpreted that
@@jakob31448 . No problem at all, I got a fright thinking that I had given incorrect information. Yes, I recall saying that if the fuel was clean it could be used again.. Thanks for your comment.
Nice one thanks mate
Thank you for your comment.
Thanks mate
What if it doesn’t start after pre priming?
perfect thanks for the instructions this is identical to the rodeo Ra diesel
Thanks David, apparently Isuzu own the Rodeo name, and so Holden called this model the Colorado, but they must be very similar vehicles.
this is my very first diesel can you make a video of all filter removal and replacement?
I was helping a friend when I did this video, so not sure when i will be able to do it, although I can tell you that he used a three leg oil filter removal tool to take the oil filter off as it was difficult to reach.
@@johnvienta7622 I think the RC is the same as the Rodeo as mine (a 2009) still has an Isuzu motor. I think it's the RG model when Holden split off from Isuzu.
Wife laughing at the end? lol
Well spotted, it was my mates wife who did not know that we were filming.
@@johnvienta7622 Just finished fuel filter replacement, video helped thanks John.
@@-WondersofCreation , thank you.
Man you sound like Ian Chappell!
But i know less about cricket than Ian.
He's a dick as well
Hi I have a 09 rc colorado just tried doing this twice but the fuel just keeps flowing out. after 20 mins and 7-8 litres in the bucket I gave up! Was there any instructions you left out?
Everything we did was as described. I actually followed the instructions from 4WD site, and everything went well. As it is a diesel we did not have to de-pressurise the fuel system, and just let it run out of the filter assembly, and it released just over 2 litres, then stopped. That took at least 15 minutes as it trickled out. With a petrol engine ( with pressurised fuel system ) I could see it forcing fuel out, but we had no such issue with the diesel, and I believe that the petrol version has a different fuel filter anyway. Sorry that I cannot offer any advice with your problem.
Yea mines a diesel looks identical! No worries might try again haha
Fairly sure I said it in video, but make sure ignition is off, and preferably take key out, as it may be trying to prime itself. After changing the filter, turn the ignition on to prime the system, but do not actually start the motor. We did that 3 or 4 times before the gurgling noise could not be heard when the key was turned to ignition. When it is quiet, it is primed, but also check for leaks as with any filter change.
In the DMax video it says to clamp the fuel line.
mine is doing the same...followed every step in the video but she keeps flowing... 09 rc colorado
Do you know where I can find a fuel system diagram (2008 Colorado) thanks in advance
I suppose the easy answer is type it into Google, but another way is to either download a repair manual or get it on a disc.
John Vienta ok thanks mate
Crisx fix said you got to empty the tank before working on the filter.
I would never argue with Chrisfix, however as the filter is not installed within the actual fuel tank I personally cannot see why that would be necessary. As long as the fuel line is depressurized, and key is out of the ignition, it is a very safe procedure.
Is there a second fuel filter?
Not on that vehicle, although i believe that some do have a secondary (screw on) filter. We looked for it just in case but could not locate it.
I just clamp the fuel line and do it fast ;)
What a fuggen drone.
Easily fixed. Just do your own video and then you will not have to waste your valuable time watching mine.
