i already noticed this in the beginning when they walked through the white hallways i was like this looks exactly like alien isolation! now it makes sense lol
I totaly agree, it has hints and elements from alle the movies including Promitheus, but the overall tone and the setting is definitely Alien Isolation, Alvarez even told that up to the sceary scenes you could see the "telefon saving point in the game" in the movie,
I'm surprised no one has mentioned how beautiful this film is to look at. The scenes in space have epic visuals, the set design is another level! It's incredible. Also, there are a lot of practical effects in this film that are really impressive. I really enjoyed this film.
I just got back from seeing it and I really enjoyed it too. That shot of above the planet atmosphere, and then all those of the rings, were amazing. And the lighting. It was dark. But I could still always see what was going on.
@@Carfilliot xenomorphs bursting out of someone’s chest is also “predictable” in an alien movie. Predictable or not, its all part of the formula and I’m here for it 🤘🏻
@@logandumont it’s not like I’m bashing the movies, I’m a huge alien fan. Fake endings though? It’s not like it adds an unexpected twist or shock because we all see it a mile away. I would argue not having one would be more of a surprise lol but hey, we are all fans so let’s agree it subjective.
Facehuggers will always be the most anxiety inducing creatures ever designed for horror. They're like space spiders with long tails, and scurry about the floor with that spider like reflex. Their only goal is to impregnate their victim. The fact that they tripled the amount for this film, and made them faster....pure dread.
When I saw that I knew this movie would do well. I'm not going to see it because those things creep me the fuuck out and I don't need them 30 feet tall and in my face
Alien: Isolation is canon to the franchise. Similar to other tie-in games, like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen/Survivor. There needs to be more adaptations of films, but I know they are usually terrible, but that's also vice-versa as well.
@Dragonfury3000 The whole orbital dynamic and gravity set of laws where just violently butchered in this movie. If you'd take artificial gravity off, objects on the ship would stay where they currently are, they would not suddenly raise from the floor to float in mid-air. When the station collided and got grinded by the asteroid belt, the rocks should have been imposing a rotational movement to the station and a counter-momentum. When you take off to reach in orbit any object above you, you do not take off and keep raising vertically but you also have to compensate the rotational momentum imposed by the Earth's rotation by raising while flying also horizontally (same if you are flying an airplane to compensate winds or a boat to compensate currents). This all movie was a total pain to be watched by any space tech-savvy.
Out of all the movie reviewers on RUclips, Jeremy has earned not only my subscription but he's earned my repeat viewing for the last 6 years because he's honest, doesn't waste time and is one of the most accurate reviewers without giving away spoilers. Hats off to you sir.
I hear what you're saying with the 'second ending' stuff, but for me that's a critical element of a proper Alien story. Alien, Aliens, Alien Isolation, and I think even 3 and Resurrection all have these moments when we have the climax and are left exhausted and emotionally drained - and then the survivors realize they're still in danger and we get to share in their sense of exhaustion.
@@Tripl3Cherri3s I thought it was the best part of the entire movie! Infact almost left disappointed because I didn't find the film very scary and the ending (to me) brought everything together
It's interesting that Fede Alvarez was able to film this movie in chronological order. The fact that he had that much control over production definitely seems like a good thing. Great choice for a director for a new Alien movie. He knows horror.
It’s crazy that let the directors have full control can be hit or mess - in the original Alien Ridley wanted Ripley to die in the end but the studio told him to change it. With the two prequels they gave Ridley full control and they turned out the way they were. Cameron was given a lot of freedom in Aliens and it rocked. Alien 3 is obviously a total nightmare. Romulus though seems like Fede totally delivered.
@@Nicholas_Chen_ I remember Ridley saying the script ended with Ripley escaping from the Nostromo and he added the 'fourth act' where the alien has snuck onto her escape pod which was a good idea.
Outside of the Alien Universe, but Prey 2017 is very clearly inspired by Alien and has one of the best stories and gameplay I've ever seen. Highly recommend that for anyone remotely interested in Alien.

I’m glad you mentioned the trailer didn’t spoil that much. I was worried if it showed the entire film looks like the actual film has a lot more surprises for us.
The trailers just hid two things from the film. One is the vaunted third act of the film and the other is a blast from the past. Neither is good enough to save the movie, IMHO. If you liked the Force Awakens, you'll probably like Romulus.
Early reviews had me hyped , now I know it's an Empire Magazine 3/5 film review. It's fine, I'll wait to catch this on Half price Tuesdays at the cinema
lol lord no! No trailer on earth could show the entire, absurd, wild, twisty-turny plot of this movie! You would need a 10 minute trailer minimum just to encompass all the craziness.
Aliens then Alien and then AVP and the WY scene at the end of AP2R (the rest of AVP2 was horrible) and I agree the ship trophy-case in Predator 2. The other films only get notes for their art direction like ship and set designs... everything else was a dumpster full of feces set ablaze.
It shows throwbacks to all Aliens movies, every single one of them. The actors do not suffer from the lack of survival instincts this time around. It is a 2-hour movie, I personally think the end arc is redundant/extra to be honest. Do enjoy it as a complimentary to The Alien (1979), it is not as gun fest as Alien2, not as weird as Alien3 and 4, not as larger-than-life as Prometheus and Covenant. It has really simple plot.
@@nightsage217 largely agree. Aliens is basically as good as Alien IMO and probably more iconic in some ways. I feel like this skewed closer to Alien, but had a lot of the more kinetic elements of Aliens, and even a weapon that kinda hybridized the two iconic weapons from Alien.
@@deckard5pegasus673 strongly disagree. The general consensus is that they’re basically equivalent movies too. They have essentially identical ratings across user and critic aggregates pretty much anywhere you look. You may think that, but I guarantee it’s far from the consensus view.
@@Cwin-ny6bp The entire concept of alien came about because of Ridley Scott's choices to go with HR Giger, Scott's insistence in having the dead engineer in the chair, the entire concept of 'classes' within the corporate structure, the expendibility of the crew by the corporation, the hidden agenda of the corporation, not toe mention the agenda of the android, etc.etc.. There are many layers to the film . Alien easily could have been just a B horror movie, but turned into one of the greatest films of all time; Alien for intents and purposes was original, and countless movies copied Scott's Alien. In turn, the movie Aliens, was not as original, though was a generally good film, and a success. Cameron just took all of the elements that Scott put into place and made it into a typical 80's action film, with one liners and all. Not much more. Contrary to your claim, "census" puts Alien above Aliens. In Rotten Tomatoes all time list of greatest movies, Alien ranks higher than Aliens. A successful "well liked" movie does not always equal a "good" movie(in terms of artistry, and talent). Though I could write a book here, and give an endless list; probably a good example is just to use Scott's Bladerunner. Bladerunner completely flopped at the boxoffice and was a forgotten movie for decade. When the first director's cut of Blader runner came out in 1992 people started looking at it again. Blader runner is one of the few films to be selected for preservation in the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress for having important significance for society. Blader runner is a particular example of a "good" film, that was not "successful". What is more Blade runner influenced anime, countless books, games, movies with it's style, etc... and Alien also has influenced generations with it's style and concepts. To the contrary, Cameron films in general, I can safely say, generally have not been all that original, and use tried and true formulas, usually with a lot less depth. Even one of Cameron's most successful films Avantar, was a rip off of Dancing with Wolves in "space".
Andy was EASILY the best actor the whole movie as he was absolutely PHENOMENAL as an android! Love him so much in this movie, in BOTH of his different personalities he had! He was incredible in the movie!
AVP has a special place in my heart. The movie sucked as a crossover horror film people initially expected, but it wasn't meant to be a horror film. I enjoyed it as an action movie about monsters kicking the shit out of eachother while humans just run around trying to not die.
while i definitly see where ur coming from, usually if i want this feeling i watch godzilla movies. bigger, more explosions and honestly quite many enjoyable movies
It was my first Alien movie & I had plenty of scared shitless moments with the Xenomorph designs alone 'cause I was young. Even with the knowledge of the wider Xenomorph universe now, I still think it has one of the better stories & cinematography of the franchise.
To be fair the first alien kind of had a second ending where Ripley escaped and thinks she’s in the clear but then the xenomorph gets on the ship and attacks her
Alien was a haunted house. You never knew what was around the corner. Aliens was a roller coaster ride. You could see what was coming but there was nothing you could do about it.
It pleases me to know that Jeremy thought there was a lot of stuff left out of the trailers, because I thought that the trailer revealed WAY too much originally. Excited to see this tomorrow!
Watched the premiere just now. All the trailers just show things from the first half of the movie (except for one scene but that is not spoiler without the context). Even then, there is more to the plot than just teenagers stuck in space with xenos. It is deffinitely more Alien than Aliens but takes from all movies in the franchise. Overall I would give it 8/10.
I thought the trailer looked pretty awesome, but i was like “they are sure making the fate of a lot of the characters crystal clear.” Glad to hear they left a lot out and the trailer wasn’t just a super cut of every good part of a bad movie. I love the Alien property, so i am very excited to hear they actually hit with this one.
What I think is great is the fact that they paid attention to every small detail, making the story bigger, a lot more suspenseful and terrifying. Loved every moment of it.
I'm going to go watch Alien Romulus with my dad and his friend this weekend, seeing Jeremy's face in the thumbnail gave me hope as an Alien fan. Sorry for the really late review, short answer: I didn't like it.
It's worth digging out contemporary reviews as you often get a different view point to the films current reputation-Gene Siskel gave Aliens a negative review and a lot of reviews of 'Empire strikes back' said it was 'wasn't as good the second time around'. Scarface is one of the biggest changes in opinion as there was a lot of negativity to it when it was released but it's now firmly part of pop culture.

My least favorite is probably Alien 3; Ripley has to fight like hell in Aliens to save the little girl and then 3 opens with the survivors dead in the crash. It just kind of made all the effort of surviving the previous film feel wasted. My favorite is probably Aliens with more focus on action while still having legitimate scares.
Alien 3 sucks for a lot of reasons. The intro is cheap but I could forgive that if the movie wasn't just awful for every other reason. The entire movie is an ugly brown color in a boring ugly brown facility with a bunch of dirty sweat dudes and bad looking special effects. On top of the story being ass there is just nothing visually appealing or interesting about Alien 3. Its boring. At least Resurrection was kind of funny and had a hilarious head biting scene at the end.
@@AndyPrimeOne I actually kind of like that one. I feel like it works only because by that point in the series there are like 5 different timelines, but also that the robot war is inevitable. You can blame that on T3, as that is when they go from "There is no fate but what we make for ourselves" to "It is inevitable."
@RichSmithson I thought Romulus was O.K., but the actors were too young. There was a good mix of old and young in Aliens and they should have done the same. I'm growing wearing of girl power too. Every movie has to have a female lead who's the hero.
@RichSmithson Alien Covenant was a serious let down when I first saw it. I thought for sure we would find out where the Engineers were from. That character is very intriging and to not show more of them was a step in the wrong direction.

Honestly my favorite Alien movie since Aliens. We just watched it yesterday on a whim and we weren't expecting much, but were completely blown away by how amazing it was. I hope the director gets an opportunity to film a sequel.
Always gotta bring up Alien Isolation, it’s my favorite Alien property after the first two movies. I’ve heard the director of Romulus wanted this to be the tonal bridge between Alien and Aliens, and Alien Isolation does it perfectly. Still, seeing this one tomorrow, really glad Mr. Jahns liked it.
The director has actually said he wanted to make this after playing Alien Isolation and supposedly has an Easter egg in the film whenever you see a phone in frame shit is about to go down, like the save points in the game that had old style phones on them.

Just came back from the IMAX showing and wow…this movie is a banger. What an experience. The pacing, the visuals, the sound…been a while since I saw a movie deliver such a great experience in cinema
not sure we saw the same movie but I'm glad somebody enjoyed it. As an alien fan from the late 80s I had a hard time sitting through it. I will agree the production design, sound and soundtrack were great, however all the things that make a film a truly enjoyable experience for me weren't there at all. Horrible characters making stupid decisions and a plot that doesn't really make much sense from the start (why would the company leave a research facility with its most prized creations abandoned for kids to fly into? Why would the company allow these people to leave the planet and fly wherever they'd like when they're so strict on who gets to go off world?).
@52BLUE your acting like the original movie didn't have the same issues? Everyone having dinner like an alien didn't face suck a dude earlier? Ashe not deactivated after clearly not following protocol properly? Wetlands yutani couldn't care less if people go into orbit or even leave, when you ha e so many disposable people employed why would they care, crew expendable after all The abandoned station not being reclaimed? Fair point, id chalk it up to it was a compartmentalised operation/cell meant to be written off and forgotten if it'd didn't work out Edit: I forget they didn't know ash was a Synth , regardless he should have been reprimanded if not confined to quarters for risking the whole crew
@@00spinz35 You do have to take into consideration that the primary driving themes and inspiration behind the original was communism, set during a time when telling stories through visual media was still a relatively fresh concept yet to be fully explored. With hindsight and years of watching Alien movies, it’s easy to criticize them for not being cautious. But without that and within the context of the universe, they had no reason to believe homie had a chestburster in him or was a danger. They weren’t scientists or trained military personnel…they were ordinary people, a salvage crew, being guided by a company that wanted them sacrificed, a system (“Mother”) that hid information, and an android intent on sabotaging them. They had WAY too many unknown variables and literally every aspect of their information and technology manipulated. Not the same as a bunch of kids randomly getting off a hard-to-get-off planet and randomly coming across an important asf space station that is randomly abandoned and randomly has aliens inside for reasons that are random. At least in Alien the crew were legit sacrifices made in the name of research and discovery, and had no way of knowing that because even their GPS was out to get them killed.
Alien ranking(without Romulus, didn't watch yet) 1. Aliens(most fun, most compelling) 2. Alien(flawless) 3. Prometheus(decent, but flawed) 4. Alien vs Predator(ok fanfic style movie, but bit forgettable) 6. Alien Covenant(bit frustrating to watch, but looks great visually, and was interested in what it sets up) 7. Alien Resurrection(laughably awful) 8. AVP Requiem(beyond garbage)
Switch Alien for Aliens and I 100% agree as I'm more of a slow horror fan than an action one. Good call on Prometheus specially, it's underrated as hell I feel

Dont know why this movie was so well liked. It was basically just a callback to better Alien movies (Alien and Aliens) while trying to weave in plot points from terrible Alien movies (Prometheus and Alien Covenant). And because it tried to tie together inherently disparate and contradictory installments in the Alien franchise it fell flat. The fan service was over the top and corny. The characters (aside from Andy) were largely forgettable. And there were only five or six characters so we didnt even get that many Alien-induced deaths. And weve basically seen everything that happened in this movie already. Also explain to me the logic of mutating the human race into a Xenomorph/Engineer hybrid just so they can colonize planets again? Like who the fuck would sign up to do that? Literally no one. This movie was a B-tier Alien at best and a C-tier movie overall.
@@GregsGameRoom Alien 3 is not canon and you can’t tell me otherwise lol. I like it alright as a What If? Scenario, but it’s definitely a fake sequel to Aliens. Don't listen to the bad reviews. If you're really a fan of the first two original titles, Alien and Aliens, this movie was made for you. "Alien: Romulus" is not another over-the-top tryhard Covenant or Prometheus movie. It's got an "indie" vibe, which you'll love. It's a beautifully crafted masterpiece, and a love letter made for us diehard Alien fans. The sheer amount of little visual details, sound cues and dialogues that you'll find throughout the movie connecting to the first two movies is mindblowing. Finally someone understood the style, the atmosphere and what "Xenomorph Horror Sci-Fi" is all about. Thank you, Fede Alvarez.
If there is a spoiler review of this, will watch that. I was pleasantly surprised by the movie, went in not knowing what to expect, I would say I had a positive experience. The things I liked most were all the callbacks to the original movie (it helps when you have Ridley Scott be producer) and the characteristics of the crew. They’re all miserable, overworked, young adults, trying to find a better place on the colony. That’s great. Would like to see this movie again, maybe just in the theater cause it adds to the atmosphere/experience.

As someone who really liked Prometheus, as sci-fi more than an alien movie, and Covenant "bridging the gap" between Prometheus and Alien (in a way), I really liked the way's this movie adressed those movies and events. I also loved going into this movie not having seen the trailers and not even knowing when in the timeline it takes place. I loved how it ended up fitting in, with both the direct and indirect tie-ins to the rest of the series. It feels like a fan film in the way that anyone who ends up making an Alien movie now adays will undoubtly be a huge Alien-fan and want to do their best at paying homage to everything that came before and treat it all with the respect and dignity it deserves as the classic it is. I need to see it again to be sure, but I might actually rank this as the 3rd best Alien movie.

I really loved the movie. Mostly due to the fact that it fixes the cannon that Prometheus and Covenant screwed up. Admittedly most of the cast are 2D cannon fodder, but for the first time in a long time I'm excited about future Alien movies. My ranking is largely in chronological order except move Romulus up to fourth place. However...I can't really pick who is better between the first three. They are just totally different masterpieces.
Would like to have seen Isolation made into a film. ...but without the "Ripley, you're almost there, now go and turn off the flavitz." then "Ripley, you're almost there, now go BACK and turn back ON the flavitz..."
Really surprised that this movie is so divisive. It has all of the elements of a good aliens movie and it doesn't try to dump a lot of lore on the audience. The cgi model of Ash was the only thing I didn't really like, but everything else was solid to me. Now I wanna play Alien Isolation and Dead Space
Just want to give a shout out to Aliens Dark Decent. It's a game that came out last year but kind of flew under the radar. As a big fan of the series it was my favorite thing since Isolation. Edit: *sigh* I saw the movie last night and was really disappointed. Alien 3 was better than this.
Amazing movie, had everything that I wanted. Heavily influenced by Alien, with an Aliens touch and connected to Prometheus. Also, it feeds from Alien Isolation and Dead Space. Perfect.
This wasn't at all close to Dead Space in terms of dread, atmosphere and gore. Romulus had terribly bland action scenes. Playing Dead Space would've been a better time. 😅

Didn't they say they were looking for the alien that Ripley blew out the airlock 20 years later. But Ripley's ship wasn't found until 57 years later. So how did they know about anything that happened to the Nastromo and her crew?
Sounds to me like they should’ve done a covenant sequel, which having watched it a second time, after so long, it’s actually pretty good and David is absolutely fascinating.
I do feel a bit lonely sticking up for the prequels [although it's worth noting there R.T. scores are Prometheus 73% and 65% so actually a lot higher than people make out] and I would have liked to see that saga play out .
This was a mixed bag for me. Disliked the unnecessary quotes from other Alien films in the spirit of “fan service.” There’s no need for one of the characters in “Romulus” to quote something that was said “Aliens.” Let the movie stand on its own two legs 👍. And I don’t mind a nice 2nd ending, but…this second ending I didn’t care for at all. The movie is very beautiful looking though. They spared no expense.
Was lucky enough to catch an early screening of this with a mate, and we both left the cinema with huge smiles on our faces. Romulus definitely feels like a trip down memory lane, as it follows the Alien blueprint quite closely, but when it looks and sounds this good, that ain't a bad thing. Some of the best Sci-Fi set design I've seen since Blade Runner 2049, and a tension-inducing score that keeps you grounded in the movie the entire way through. I also enjoyed the so-called second ending a lot more than Jeremy did, but I can absolutely see how it would be a "controversial" move. But even so, I highly recommend catching this one in cinemas.
Really, the only two things I didn't like in the film were a) gestation time. Every one of the first four established gestation as hours, not literally minutes. The second? THAT line. You know the one. The one that just felt so unnecessary

As a long time alien fan who has collected comics and games as well, this was a massive love letter to fans of the series. That being said, there are two massive plot holes with this movie that have stuck with me since watching it and I figured I’d share those with everyone. (SPOILERS BELOW). 1. The setting shouldn’t make sense. Why on earth was the station abandoned? If the company was so infatuated with Xeno’s and they had the only xeno they’d ever found why was the station empty? I know Rook mentioned the station getting overrun, but not a single person escaped? On top of that, they are saying nobody else in Wayland knew of the station? And if they did, they were okay with just willingly let all of their work crash and burn?? 2. The Xenomorph Biology: For anyone who’s watched the movies (specifically Aiens) we know the birth/lifecycle of the xenomorph, ie Queen, egg, facehugger, drone. The directors cut of Alien did show that if a lone Xeno drone is by itself, it can turn people into eggs with the hope of getting a facehugger that can produce a queen. With this in mind, the movie doesn’t make any sense. How on earth were there so many facehuggers if there is no queen? The fact that there are so many corpses hung up with chestbursters kind of removes the possibility of the Alien directors cut lore. Unless they got eggs from LV426, but that wouldn’t make sense for the plot of Aliens and Hadley’s Hope.
@@DunjaKavur so we now have another mcguffin "3d-printing"? black goo was not enough? How the hell can you 3d-print alien with acid for blood? This movie sucks and CGI won't save it. The Marvels had better CGI btw
As for the second point, the Queen was in Cameron's Aliens but has never appeared in any of the Ridley Scott films [which includes this as he's a producer] so it might not be part of his canon.
Just got home after watching it and I really liked it. It accomplished what it set out to do, be a love letter to the franchise. After Covenant we needed a story that goes back to its roots. To me this is the third best alien movie. I find it funny that I was worried when Disney acquired the Alien an Predator rights. But Prey and now Romulus are the best sequels we have had in years.
I actually want a third Prometheus / Covenant film - BUT, focussing on the Engineers. I’m far more interested in building the lore of universe than another alien jumpscare film (although Romulus does look cool)
this new movie not only has promethues stuff in it its got straight up answers to long running questions. i was actually blown away, it is not a sequel to covenant but it most certainly expands the lore!
@@pig1111 Great to hear. Seeing it tonight and cannot wait. I'm sure engineers aren't a focus of this one but if the movie even acknowledges them or what Weyland Yutaniis is really up to, I'll be happy.
Another spot on review. Nailed it. My rank not including AVP: 1. Alien 2. Aliens 3. Prometheus 4. Alien: Resurrection 5. Alien: Covenant 6. Alien: Romulus
Ranking would be #1- Alien #2- Alien: Romulus #3- Aliens #4- AvP #5- Alien: Resurrection #6- Alien 3 #7- AvP Requiem I love and adore Aliens but I've always been more attracted to the horror side of the Alien franchise than the action side, lovecraftian/sci-fi alien horror has always been my favorite type of horror and Fede Alvarez in my opinion did a great job MOST of the time in the film with doing that especially with how expanded the Alien universe is now, I've always liked his style and I enjoy both Evil Dead and Don't Breathe so to see elements of that with things I love about the franchise is awesome, I do agree the callbacks and whatnot do occasionally miss the mark and feel even a bit cringy sometimes but the high highs the movie has compared to the few lows is just a situation where the good outweight the bad. The make or break of the film is DEFINITELY gonna be the final act and for me personally I really dug it but I can totally understand for alot people if it ruins the movie for them. I can see and understand alot of criticisms of the film aside from those people that are overly cynical about every film to the point where they can't enjoy movies anymore.
100% with your ranking. This new alien is a breath of fresh air. It makes you clench your butt the whole time. Which consider it is the 9th instalment ? That’s a huge compliment But then i would put prometheus after resurrection & covenant above alien 3

That’s not even an Alien movie trope. It’s just a horror movie trope in general.

Alien is a much better film than Aliens
@@deckard5pegasus673 strongly disagree. The general consensus is that they’re basically equivalent movies too. They have essentially identical ratings across user and critic aggregates pretty much anywhere you look. You may think that, but I guarantee it’s far from the consensus view.
@@Cwin-ny6bp I agree the consensus is there equal-Alien gives you the horror, Aliens the action.
Doom... no ammo... bare fist... no berserker mode... Oh how do I miss 1993. Thanks for the nostalgia!

This is how I see terminator dark fate as well, they just make the previous movies feel pointless.
@@AndyPrimeOne I actually kind of like that one. I feel like it works only because by that point in the series there are like 5 different timelines, but also that the robot war is inevitable. @RichSmithson I thought Romulus was O.K., but the actors were too young. There was a good mix of old and young in Aliens and they should have done the same. I'm growing wearing of girl power too. Every movie has to have a female lead who's the hero.

@@52BLUE the question why the company left that research station out there definitely bugged me to
@@00spinz35 You do have to take into consideration that the primary driving themes and inspiration behind the original was communism, set during a time when telling stories through visual media was still a relatively fresh concept yet to be fully explored.

4. Alien 3(I hate that this immediately undoes Aliens ending, but I consider this a dark alternative timeline, not as enjoyable as before but cool ideas)
5. Alien vs Predator(ok fanfic style movie, but bit forgettable)
6. Alien Covenant(bit frustrating to watch, but looks great visually, and was interested in what it sets up)
7. Alien Resurrection(laughably awful)
8. AVP Requiem(beyond garbage)
Switch Alien for Aliens and I 100% agree as I'm more of a slow horror fan than an action one. Good call on Prometheus specially, it's underrated as hell I feel

That’s because ALIEN is thee standard and best film. Aliens albeit some script gaps is a Hollywood top 5 sequel of all time tho.
Fede Alvarez is one of the greatest modern horror directors, like James Wan. And he’s very good at respecting the original’s tone, something that most directors are not capable of.

I will never forgive Alien 3 for ruining the ending of ALIENS by killing Newt and Hicks.
Not canon, never happened, lalala...
@@GregsGameRoom Alien 3 is not canon and you can’t tell me otherwise lol. I like it alright as a What If? Scenario, but it’s definitely a fake sequel to Aliens. There was actually a recent novelization of an earlier screenplay that is way better than the movie we got. Heck, if I could credit Colonial Marines for anything, it is the partial retcon that brought Hicks back.
Yeah, my personal canon is Alien, Aliens and Alien: Isolation. Nothing else happened. Sounds like I’ll be adding Alien: Romulus to the list. 😊

Shilling for shiny turds
Aside from the line copies and 5 minute chest burster. :P
It's just a none scary, faded remix of earlier films for 15 year olds who have never seen an Alien movie.
C+ at best. I’ve seen the original in the theater. Disappointed with this movie. Another disappointing Alien movie.
"tryhard" it was Ridley's Scott vision, not a brain-dead horror flick
If there is a spoiler review of this, will watch that.
I was pleasantly surprised by the movie, went in not knowing what to expect, I would say I had a positive experience. The things I liked most were all the callbacks to the original movie (it helps when you have Ridley Scott be producer) and the characteristics of the crew. They’re all miserable, overworked, young adults, trying to find a better place on the colony. That’s great.
Would like to see this movie again, maybe just in the theater cause it adds to the atmosphere/experience.
Cannot wait for this movie! Much love from Scotland Jeremy

Jeremy if you haven’t done so already you should absolutely play Alien: Isolation. It’s my favorite horror game and it’s such a good way to follow up on what made the Alien franchise so great in the first place.
I look forward to getting Dementia so I can watch Aliens all over again 🍿

I really loved the movie. Mostly due to the fact that it fixes the cannon that Prometheus and Covenant screwed up. Admittedly most of the cast are 2D cannon fodder, but for the first time in a long time I'm excited about future Alien movies. My ranking is largely in chronological order except move Romulus up to fourth place. However...I can't really pick who is better between the first three. They are just totally different masterpieces.
Review starts 1:03, to this day I can only get through like 2-3 hours into isolation, the tension and stress too much for me 😂 and I LIKE horror!

Exactly! A movie where we know everything and we have to wait for the characters to catch up is tedious! That "Dracula's Daughter," sorry: "Abigail,"-movie, anyone?
And then there comes the last 15-20 mins of the movie...(I am not saying it's good but I got to admit I didn't expect THAT)

The second ending is a very Alien thing to do though.
Sounds to me like they should’ve done a covenant sequel, which having watched it a second time, after so long, it’s actually pretty good and David is absolutely fascinating.

Jeremy didn't just reference LOTR while talking about Alien Romulus
I’m seeing this movie in 4D Saturday. It should be good.

@@HexenStar Well, in any event, I enjoyed the film a lot and thought the closing scenes were the best.

I love and adore Aliens but I've always been more attracted to the horror side of the Alien franchise than the action side, lovecraftian/sci-fi alien horror has always been my favorite type of horror and Fede Alvarez in my opinion did a great job MOST of the time in the film with doing that especially with how expanded the Alien universe is now, I've always liked his style and I enjoy both Evil Dead and Don't Breathe so to see elements of that with things I love about the franchise is awesome, I do agree the callbacks and whatnot do occasionally miss the mark and feel even a bit cringy sometimes but the high highs the movie has compared to the few lows is just a situation where the good outweight the bad.
