I personally think they made the right choice not to have the clip of Nancy's sister be in the movie. It would've made it less realistic. If the shark was there all along you'd think it would've attacked sooner, I mean there were 3 people in the water why wait until there's only one? Now maybe Nancy could've swam to a rock to pose for a pic, send it to her sister, drop the phone while have her sister realize there's a shark behind her and then Nancy jumps in the water again and so on.. Just a thought! :)
actually sharks essentially attack when their preys aren't in groups so it definitely did make sense that it would've waited until she was isolated. but yeah it would've been just cliché to have the sister see the pic.
it's mostly just cringy, and the whole "close one realizes something is wrong, fails to warn person in danger" trope is overused and cliché. and also it wouldn't have made sense because the sister could have just called for help herself before anything happened if she saw the shark before the interesting part of the movie starts.
In reality the shark would have been in the area following the dead whales body. Since the whale was nowhere near at the time of that photo it would have been less realistic to have the great white already there lurking around.

The Shallows is a really fun shark movie with a very attractively beautiful Blake Lively. The cinematography is amazing, it's kinda tense at times, plus the surfing scenes are soo entertaining to watch. Also it's a short movie too, you gotta watch it with your friends. You will have a good time :D

the last scene when she talks to the seagulls definitely shouldve been added to the movie, but how did they manage to have a seagulls with her on the rock? Was it trained or what

This are the kind of movies that show sharks as mindless killing machines but in real life they're not like that they hate eating human so don't think that sharks are killing machines that will kill a human the moment they see it.
Personally, I think that they should have put the first one in because it added a level of suspense for the viewers. Like; "Oh my God, there is a shark but she doesn't know and she's going into the water, oh my god what is going to happen? Is she going to get attacked? When? Will she survive?"

i know i'm late to this. I literally just watched the movie today. it was absolutely amazing. 4:19 killed me😅 but if they had kept that in the movie it would've had the same concept as the movie Cast Away. we'd think she'd gone crazy like the guy in Cast Away.
Never even thought to find these. That first one, where Chloe sees that shark in the picture was really surprising. Maybe that coulda been kept in. Then again, maybe not, because mighta defeated the idea of the film. Chloe sees the shark, tries to call, but Nancy doesn’t answer. So then their dad ends up calling to send someone for help, then there goes the plot of the movie. Plus, it mighta also ruined Nancy’s own perspective
Sully Seagull was an amazing supporting cast. Love that bird.
