It took me 12 God damn years to hear this. I am completely blown away. I was washing dishes and listening to Astrological Straights in full for the first time (huge face tat fan I just been slackin okay) But God damn this track had me dancing and washing the dishes as if it were the end of the world and the dishes being done were the thing that was gonna save us all. 10/10. This song connected with me on such a deep level. Glad to come to the comments and see I'm not alone! Here's to hoping we get plenty more Zach music.
I want to invent a time machine so i can go back to when this was released and not have to wait 10 years to get round to hearing it. I heard Hella then DG then the ILys then this and it's all wonderful music and he's one very talented man. Bravo.
I have read the technical explanations for Zack Hill's playing. His use of complex time signatures and polyrhythms. The fact is, it sounds better when you stop trying to make sense of it.
Considering the body of Death Grips' work now, I wonder how you feel about this comment 15 years later. It seems even more true every year. He's one of the greatest artists out there right now. We'll be talking about him a long time.

@ducksoup4pa Zack Hill is a "feel" musician. He doesn't formulate rhythms, he feels them. This is how truly gifted people operate. They don't sit down and think "what new way can I use modes or time signatures today?" They simply hear a melody or complete song in their head and whatever that time signature ends up being is just circumstantial. Zack Hill doesn't set out to make "challenging" music. It's crippling to look at music as an engineering thing. That's not how great music is created.
This is remembers me of the summer 17 I lost my nephew 22 He always love this artist and he would always love for everyone to always be involved in music somehow it's like he's running yeah from anonymous that's funny Anyway what I'm saying it is love that man
I wish I coulda been there the fateful day this masterpiece was filmed to see zach fully decked out in corpse paint and metal gear running for his life down the side of the street
That said, I really like this song. Zach Hill seems to be orienting his new output around building a groove moreso than playing a lotta notes real fast.
Man this is brilliant, i wish i knew about Zach Hill and Death Grips and the I.L.Y's back in the time where i stopped listening to music thinking there is no more good stuff out there.
All these arguments about time signatures and modes and movements don't really have much relevance in Zach's music. He's not that kind of musician. Chris Pennie very much is, but Zach is the exact opposite of that. Technicality Vs. Feel is what it really all comes down to, and Zach is all feel.
ha this guys pretty good i just saw wavves and hes touring with wavves and everybodies liike "YOU SAW ZACH HILL" and im like "oh the drummer" i didnt know he was this cool =) good thing i saw him
lol you're right the great thing about it is the fact that time signatures are obsolete in Zach Hill's music This is definitely the most straightforward of his tracks though
Happen to me recently: Drink super strong coffee, go jogging and listen to this song, start laughing your ass off while jogging thinking about this video :D
@platinumdynamite 20th notes are very possible (depending on the tempo), just as 24th notes are possible. Note lengths and time signatures don't have to be based on powers of 2, that's just what people are accustomed to using.
@ofarevolution441 I quite agree, although what I usually like most about him is how he manipulates within such standard time signatures. Taking something common and making it uncommon - creativity at its best.

this sounds like when you imagine a song in your head
Zachs solo stuff is the shit. I need more electronic math rock
I'm gonna try and give zach the biggest bear hug of my short existence when I finally meet him. The things I'd do for this man.
Have you hugged him yet?

hella, bygones, death grips....
and you have zach hill running around in various costumes.

He IS and has been for a long time now, a genius. This album is yet more proof.

Yeah I think this is a genuinely beautiful song I feel you.
Holy shit I'd live in Sac. Cleanest streets I've ever seen. I wouldn't mind finding Zach and giving him a hug though.

SCOTT CRAMER IS A GENIUS!! nice work brother. Great track | excellent video.
this song's in 6/8 and 3/4. hardly groundbreaking time signatures, guys.
regardless, this song's fantastic.
The start of this song makes a great ring tone for your phone - true story.

Very good stuff. Those of you who don't enjoy it just don't understand it, so don't hate.
