- The Tiny Desk is working from home for the foreseeable future. Introducing NPR Music's Tiny Desk (home) concerts, bringing you performances from across the country and the world. It's the same spirit - stripped-down sets, an intimate setting - just a different space.

The seraphic sounds by Brazil-born, L.A.-based guitarist Fabiano do Nascimento are hypnotic and transcendent, an amalgamation of Afro-Brazilian jazz, folklore, bossanova and samba. The combination of his overdubbed rhythmic and melodic guitar lines, coupled with the delicate hands of piano player David Bergaud and drummer Julien Cantelm, just seem to hit differently. It's a wandering journey that put me into what feels like the Samadhi state in meditation, where the brain frequency surrenders and the soul completely takes over. Fabiano and his band flow into the first number, "Nanã," a folkloric composition that "is the spirit that comes from African lineage and represents the forest ... and is the primordial mother of earth." On "Etude," a composition by Fabiano inspired by Cuban classical guitar virtuoso Leo Brouwer, he is joined by new accompaniment: Adam Ratner on guitar and Leo Costa on drums and chocalho. His love for his motherland Brazil - an "endless foundation of inspiration" - is threaded deeply into the tapestry of his sound and ethos. If you're looking for a musical moment of zen, this set comes highly recommended.

It is very hard to describe what it is about Fabiano that makes his music so beautiful. His music is so nuanced and complicated, yet it feels so flowing and beautiful and in a way simple. I have been addicted to his album, Danca do tempo, for the last year. Especially, Canto de Imanja, which, in my opinion, is the most beautiful piece I heard for classical guitar. I had to learn it, and I was so grateful to discover that Fabiano was teaching via the internet. I am so happy I can play it now. Thank you Fabiano, looking forward to hear your new album.
Where is he teaching on the internet?
I discovered him about 5 years ago and the way his music moves me has not changed. It is so rare to find such beauty in music like his. You're absolutely right, hard to describe but no need to because it can be felt and thats all that matters. A master at conveying what's in his heart. Its like becoming acquainted with a part of him inaccessible by words alone
Soothing and lovely
That was so nice to watch. You guys are amazing.
🙋♀️💐❤
What program are they using to play together live(I'm assuming)? I'm a musician myself and looking for a program that has no latency so I can play together with other musicians in the age of covid-19... And thank you for the beautiful music!
Check out jamkazam

6:18 - *Etude* (9:58)
12:53 - *Tributo* (15:52)
Wondering how the pianist recorded this without headphones
it looks like he's reading from the laptop
AMAZING! I loved the drums, soft but experimental (especially in Etude), helping to create an atmosphere beyond the proposal of Fabiano's guitar. A kiss to the drummer. The sound treatment is very very good in gerenal. And, as I said, Fabiano killed me with Tributo(!!!!!!), after to say something real about political situation in Brasil. Another kiss to Fabiano 🌻
I would like to say: TOP DEMAIS
Não o conhecia. Super talentoso e adorei ter um brasileiro num dos meus canais favoritos do RUclips.
Também achei legal, porém no Brasil tem coisas muita melhor

Now that's what I call expressive and sensitive drumming.
A saude da música brasileira tá boa por causa dos otimos anticorpos que desenvolveu nos anos. Saudações desde
Italia e muito parabéns aos músicos.
I am digging the feel they're drumming up at 9:00.
How do they play remotely and manage to get this spot on syncronization ?!!!!!!
someone records their track first and builds the foundation for others to play with, it allows for the natural flow of the track to be preserved. they're also just world class haha
They don't actually play in real time with each other. Sometimes this kind of thing is achieved by means of prerecorded tracks, some online solutions involve delaying the performance by exactly one or more measures.
This music is just perfect for this moment I'm having
Wow an 8 string classical ? That’s unusual , that’s a wide neck but more importantly the music is lovely
Ten.
wow a 10 string classical never seen that before

Does it djent doe ??
We have many others excellent musicians, unfortunately our country doesn't care about it. We need to value our talents.
This is the best interpretation of Nana.

If there could have been a highlight of 2020, it was this performance. Nothing like music that just pulls you in.

Fico até com vergonha quando conheço meio que por acaso um talento brasileiro no nível do Fabiano!
Beautiful, good to se other chill music artist working toguether 🎧🧔❤
Awesome, our pride! Thanks
Praying for the 10 people who disliked this haha. I discovered Fabiano a couple of months ago and was immediately captivated. Just wonderful, thank you!
Uma super musicalidade, músicas harmoniosas parabéns Fabiano do Nascimento
I LOVE this
The groove the pocket. I imagine they're even better when they're all in the same room
I was thinking how hard that would be... News readers struggle to get in a rhythm when they do interviews!
@@TheSherds well definitely not all done live they probably recorded their part individually and stitched them together. it's still very difficult to lock in with zero communication tho
This is amazing! Love that ten-string.
muito orgulho da música mais bonita do mundo, a música brasileira, nossa música 💛💚💙
Enjoyed this do much! Thank you.
Does anybody has tabs for Fabianos songs?
That melody is something else. Great work
that is an interesting 10 string guitar (at the very opening). I'm googling about it on wikipedia and wasn't really aware of that instrument. I was kind of curious. do the musicians record themselves separately and their music gets mixed together as a 2nd pass or do they do a single recording over something like zoom or other video meeting software? I was just wondering about how synchronized all the players seem and sometimes tech is not perfect... thanks
Pretty sure things are recorded individually. As far as I know, there's no good way to record live remotely.
Live remote recording never works because of the delay between the players. Usually,. e. g. The percussionist records their Part first because everyone has to follow their beat, and then the other musicians record their playing while listening to the percussion recording, everything is cut together afterwards.
Have loved his music for so long, so so happy he’s invited to NPR!! ❤️
fouth! BRAZIL!
That last song is fire!! Parabéns pela sua música Fabiano!
