One thing I will say about Shane (this isn't about anything SNL related)
He's actually had some of the funnier and more classy down syndrome jokes/stories ever to come out of "offensive" comedy.
He's not often punching down with it, it's relatable, it's funny, it's often wholesome.
I'm pretty tired of podcast comedy in general just like Snl comedy but I think Shane did right by comedy and people in general on that specific topic in his jokes.

It's affected him personally due to his family, which gives him perspective and an emotional core at the heart of the jokes. That's why his DS jokes work, and someone like Chapelle just seems like a jerk when he's going off on trans people.

I'm a politics nerd so I'm very much in it as far as paying attention to what's going on. My conclusion from knowing too much about the minutae of politics is that we should leave entertainers (athletes included) out of it and vice versa. Politics has been injected in too many spaces, it ruins everything. Idc if LeBron is on my side politically, I care that he is good at his job of entertainment. I won't enjoy the NBA less if he disagrees with me. The same applies to comedians, actors, singers, etc.

First mention of Palestine since the genocide began. Will Dan ever take a stance on this?

His monologue was rough but his comedy is typically more polished. But he was also in about every skit and killed it compared to most comedians that come on the show. He shows he deserved a spot on that show.

Can we stop calling podcasts with millions of views and viewers “not the mainstream”. Every current popular standup comedian goes on the same 5 popular podcasts to promote their work. That is the new mainstream. There is no market for comedy on late night tv or morning tv. Shane Gillis was being self effacing when he said you probably don’t know me. If you asked most people who Shane Gillis is more people would know him than people who know a “mainstream” figure like Sydney Sweeney. The fact is that legacy media isn’t mainstream when nobody consumes it anymore.
