I’m an Occidental guy… have been for over 20 years. I just like the feel and durability of leather. I still have and use my first Occidental belt that’s about 25 years old lol.
Now that I’m getting older though my hips can’t handle a straight up belt for every day use, and I’m mostly a trim carpenter these days so most the time I don’t even wear a belt at all.
But my fav is their lightweight vest (and system). It’s a tool “vest” that I mostly just use as is when I’m doing finish work, it has leather straps on either side though that you can use to mount any pouches from basically any brand on your side/hips. But even when you load it up with pouches, nails, impacts, ext the weight is still on your shoulders and not your hips.

Tajima SEF belt clips, Holstery Joey gen 2 pouch, and Gokusyo GKN-02 pouch. Easy on Easy off, just have to get the clips from japan for about $25-30 each.

I've also made the switch from Occidental to diamondback. My hips can't take it anymore. My dawson rig is in the mail and will be here on Tuesday. Im pretty excited but also sad to retire my Occidentals.

@StarWarNerd that's true, but my hips have never been happier. That alone is worth the money. I absolutely love them

Let me know after 10-15 years into the trade how your hip is doing. That looks like a lot of weight on your hips. As union electrician apprentice, all I rock is a veto mct backpack that I haul everywhere and a holstery big joey pro belt system that I carry for small jobs. I just throw in whatever tools that I'll need for that task then go back and get whatever I may need in my backpack. I try not to overstuff my pouch. Only carry the essentials for my task.
