Though I appreciate it, I find the tutorial regarding the firmware update overly concise. If the amplitude is too low, you can use the 'Time' knob as a gain. In my case I had to set my laptop volume to a 100 and set 'Time' to 2 o'clock. If it fails, you'll see all leds flash together. Press the 'Freeze' button to retry. The quality led acts as a guide with regard to optimal level. Though the manual states that the quality led should show yellow for optimal signal I have found in my case that it is green. If it fades to black/off you need to up the gain.
