Yes, I noticed the amp emits some heat even while playing at low volumes, so it's better to have it on top :)

No. At least it didn't occur to me. But the is one specific CD of mine that vibrates after the start and during first minutes of playback. You can hear the vibration noise clearly coming from the inside. It doesn't happen on any other CD player.
