Yes, exactly as you say. You connect the turntable to an amp with a biult-in phono preamp, or to a separate phono preamp, and then to your regular amp.

@michal90210 my turntable turned up with a fault to the power supply. Awaiting reply to email towards receiving a replacement turntable. Also, tone arm was not set correct. Truly badly manufactured turntable, hoping replacement assures my confidence in chosing Pro-ject. I'm looking towards a pair of Kef speakers, as my father used Kef along with his Delphi Oracle back in the 80's.

@@duaneh9852 I'm sorry to hear that. Are you sure it was a factory new piece? Because it sound unusual. I hope they will get a good one for you. Mine has the dust cover a bit uneven / crooked. Anyway keep in mind that it's one of the cheapest turntables on the market :) And yet the sound is really good due to the Ortofon cartridge.

No. At least it didn't occur to me. But the is one specific CD of mine that vibrates after the start and during first minutes of playback. You can hear the vibration noise clearly coming from the inside. It doesn't happen on any other CD player.

You don't. You connect the turntable to your amplifier, and the amplifier to the speakers. Unless you have active speakers and specifically ones that have a phono preamplifier built in. Then you connect the turntable directly to the speakers. But that's a rare situation.

@@cocacolaowo318 Well, a good service record is important when buying an expensive car. The Cayenne is really reliable, but parts+labour may get expensive when the car is not maintained properly. Keep it in mind :)

Yes, I noticed the amp emits some heat even while playing at low volumes, so it's better to have it on top :)

Yes, exactly :) In some ways it's like a toy-turntable, but the sound is really good.

Anti skating is built in and pre set for the cartridge!

@@stevepenny8924Well.. sort of. Sometimes the needle skips forward on the vinyl, so the antiskating is not set perfectly. Maybe the solution is to set the tracking force deliberately too high. I could try it some day...

I would tend to disagree, as I have a Technics SP-10R with a Graham tonearm and will match it up against this any day.

It was a huge market for turntables back then, so companies tried their best to make the perfect product. Today there are also some good turntables, but they are very simple compared to the 80s with their tangent tone arms, direct drive and full automated operation.

@@thecarman3693 In terms of sound it is mailny due to your stylus. So other turntables can sound good with a good stylus. But in terms of technical advancement the SL-M3 is like a space ship :)

The one shown here is mechanically driven which will drift its pressure between the walls of the groove. I'm sure that given its time of release and price point it surpassed the competition, but Technics in no way felt it was at the pinacle of playing records. Even B&O had a similar arrangement. Technics kept improving playback and eventually abandoned tangential arms in favor of longer pivoting arms, which proved superior. Finally with coreless motors and better bearing design they pretty much made the ultimate turntables with the SP-1200 and model 10R --- choice depending on use. If you're looking for the ultimate tonearm with virtually zero tracking error look into the model 5A by Reed. It's pivoted, but the geometry has a tracking error below 4 minutes of arc. Not 4 degrees ... 4 minutes. Check it out, it's amazing.

The answer is - these issues don't come at all in the first place, so they don't come 'again' either. After 10 years now the only issue I've had was the electric motor for the steering column (tilt up/down stopped working). No engine or overheating problems at all. Runs like new!! :)

Yes it was totally stock. Well that was 10 years ago, but I guess the fuel mileage was 17 l/100km city and 13 l/100km highway.

Your car is 300kg lighter and yet has 40kmh lower top speed. Really impressive :)

@@michal90210 200kg lighter and 225kph top speed... while Cayenne S is 235kph. V6 3.5 vs V8 4.5, both atmo. 5 gearbox vs 6 gearbox. 32000$ vs 70000$ when new. Cayenne pretends to be a « Porsche lol i can beat anything », FX pretends nothing etc etc VAG group is ridiculous.

And probably all are correct. It very much depends on your mood. On a lazy day I can get down to 12 L/100km in town and 9 L/100km on a country road. Which is an amazing result BTW. When driving fast I get 18 and 14 respectively. So on average I can say it's 16 city and maybe 11 country.

@@michal90210 thank you so much. Not as horrible as I imagined given the weight of this car. I hear that the Panamera with the same engine is much better with fuel economy. Not that one should be concerned with fuel economy when buying a Porsche :D Have a great day
