Soooooooooooo much Graflex loveliness in one video. I could watch this in a loop all day, great video

I have 2 Graflex. One converted from an actual flashgun and one I got from Ultimate Works. Needless to say the converted one is way more (ANH) accurate. The UW one is a mix between ANH and ESB since it has the fisheye, no "Graflex" on the clamp, the electrical pins have the indents and has the Kobold D-ring. Nor does it have the mylar/aluminum tape.

That’s great! Yeh the ones you convert yourself from a real or replica flashgun handle are always going to be super accurate to what we see on screen. The ready converted ones are more inspired by and are good for cosplay/FX playing with etc.

Personally, I like ANH Graflex version better, but the Skinnyflex is the best by a long shot!

Ordered a 89 sabers to make one of these and decided to go with the ep5 since they have holes drilled out and other cuts made to the bottom of the hilt. Anywho this video will be great to come back to and reference once I get the other parts.

I still have my ICONS replica of the ANH hilt (in mint condition too).

I don't think the clamp lever being slightly open or fully closed on the ANH Hilt matters that much because in one scene (At 39 Minutes and 46 Seconds into ANH on Disney+), where Obi-Wan & Luke see the dead Jawas the Clamp Lever is clearly open, but when Luke & Obi-Wan get to Mos Eisley for a brief moment if you pause the film (At 44 minutes & 17 seconds into ANH on Disney+), as Luke is shooing away the Jawa you can also see the Clamp Lever Clearly & it's fully closed so for this detail I would say it's up to personal Preference.
Yeah in the WannaWanga Guide you can see the Clamp Lever very clearly in the slightly open position, but in that black & white photo the Clamp is also repositioned like the ESB & TFA Sabers and not on the Opposite side like how it is seen traditionally in ANH.
So keeping the Clamp Lever in the Closed or Open Position is personal preference because it's in both canon Positions in the film.

Great attention to detail. Yes that’s absolutely correct. The clamp in ANH is seen both open and closed, facing left or right.

Great video! I have a question about the esb clamp card. Are there two shown in the film? I’ve seen both the gold one you show and a similar, all silver one. Which is the “correct” one? Do you know the one I’m talking about? Wish I could post a screenshot.

Both are correct. There are at least 3 belt-hangers in ESB and at least 3 if not more stunt sabers made from a Graflex with a blade. All were dressed up to look similar but they are not identical. The clamp card with the good traces is the more “classic” one seen in Bespin on Luke’s hilt and in Hoth in the snow. The other variant is probably just a makeshift one on some stunt hilts.

Hey, what do you use to cut and angle the grips for the ANH screen accurate version?

    • @Sithslayer

Small hobby saw then hand file. That’s how they did it for the props.
