- The newly-formed uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party has filed urgent papers in the Constitutional Court to interdict the National Assembly's first sitting which will be held this Friday, 14 June, in Cape Town.
This comes after the party's letter of demand to the Secretary to Parliament and Chief Justice Raymond Zondo, asking the two offices to refrain from convening the first sitting, did not yield the desired results. The party seeks a hearing in the apex court before Friday. We are joined by Attorney Elton Hart from the UJ Law Clinics.

CONCourt will rule based on issues. is it constitutional or accepted standards, for IEC to ignore objections ? who does IEC serve, if it cant listen to people ?
Where do you get these lamebrains? The constitution makes it clear that 350-400 members constitute parliament. Those member seats are allocated on party basis. If the party decides not to attend with its 58 seats, then there is no constitutive number for parliament. As for vote rigging, the IEC had not satisfied more than 500 complaints. That's arrogance and contravention of their mandate. Until they announced the results of the talking heads would have advanced the same argument. I pity the UJ students learning from this mercenary.

@@user-bf7ut1mz2h That was for the IEC to investigate. There was no rush to release the results. Though the IEC was concerned about the markets, something not given in their mandate. I never said I knew facts about vote rigging. But those who lodged complaints lawfully were supposed to be satisfied by the IEC. The IEC doesn't own elections, it manages them on behalf of citizens. Their mandate comes from the constitution and the Electoral Act. According to those, they have 7 days before announcing results. This is specifically for them to handle any problems that come up. The markets are not mentioned in any of those. Nothing is perfect in this world.
Mr. Hart forgot to mention that in law, there is always an exception to the general rule.
Or the MK is the ANC , no difference. The same with EFF ( Malema comes from ANC); so what difference is there? We don't need more corruptive officials in parliament.
