I’ve had my FS70R for about 2yrs. It starts easy & has plenty of power. Great trimmer.
Thank you for video. Just purchased a FS70R for residential use. Nice machine.
Just bought one today and already I'm very impressed! Way better than my Echo SRM-225
Empty your fuel system for storage and you can prevent a lot of varnish problems. Run until it dies. Works on all of my power equip great. What about lubing of the shaft? On my FS90R has a grease plug.
Just bought one today so that's why I'm here, wish me luck.
Glad we could help!
You'll love it - my brother has an FS70R and it's amazing, so much so that I'm getting one myself. Never knew how great a straight-shaft trimmer was until I used this.
I've had the fs70r for about 3 or 4 yrs.. Mine did not come with the shoulder strap or tool that you mentioned. ?! I bought it at a Stihl dealer in south jersey. So, I guess they kept the extras? It has been good and reliable but it needs a tune up now.
Just bought one and it’s a great trimmer but I am disappointed that Stijl did away with the grease port on the gear head. Why did they do away with this important maintenance feature?
Is it okay to put the brush blade on the 70r ?
nice intro video. just bought one for home after using one years ago commercially landscaping for my cousin. love these trimmers.
Right on, thanks for your comment!
Are you able to add attachments like a pole saw or hedge trimmer to this model?
what other blades do people use on their FS70?
I recommend the fs 56.same engine but the fs 56 has a greaseable gear head, take the muffler screen out, runs cooler
Great video. Clear and useful information. Thank you.
Wish there was a gearbox zerk or plug to grease the FS70R. Is there a hidden place to lube this gearbox?
Is it normal for the gear head on the FS 70R to get too hot to touch?
Wonder where sthil gets the 93 octane
Whats the best size string for the 70r for everyday use... .095?
I've heard people soaking the string in water. But Noone says for how long and how often. Thanks
Good video. Just bought one this weekend. The manual shows various cutting attachments (such as a brush cutter blade) can go on the FS 70. Yet my Stihl dealer says it is underpowered for anything but trimmer line. Interested in your feedback on this. Thank you.
I’d be weary of a blade, but a polycut or durocut. It’s not a power thing in my opinion it’s a cable drive vs solid shaft.
Is this unit worthy of BlackBerry removal by homeowner? What attachment? Thanks!
For blackberry removal it would be best to step up to an FS91R, it has a solid drive shaft versus a cable.
great presentation
I was trying to clean the fuel line. When I tried to remove a hose, I think I broke something. On top of the fuel tank, next to the fuel line, is a black part shaped like a dome. The top came off the bottom. Inside looks like clear plastic. Did I break it or do I push down harder to make it snap? If I broke it, how do I remove the piece that's in the tank?
Wondering if you broke the tank vent channel you have to move it with a small screwdriver pry it out it is a tight fit.
I just purchased a unit. Starting to use it.
Nice Video. Could you tell me how to grease the shaft and how often are you supposed to do it. Thanks!!
Most people never grease the shaft/cable and it is fine. That said I grease mine annually. Once the trimmer deflector (guard) is removed there is a screw underneath, loosen that and then remove the gearbox. Slide out the cable and use the Stihl MultiLube, as you reinstall the cable put a thin strip on the cable, reassemble and get back to work. 😉
Any idea if the pull cord recoil on the FS56 RC-E can be replaced with parts from the FS70? I have the 56 and love it but don't like that easy start system.
You have to replace the cup that goes on the Crankshaft and then yes you can sew a starter and a starter cup
Fs70r is most reliable trimmer and better than 4 mix
What about the fs94?
How do you grease gearbox in the FS70 or do you?
It is a sealed gearbox
How do you grease the head since there is no grease cert?
The FS70 has a non serviceable gearbox.
@@Carlsmower does having a non serviceable head shorten the life of the trimmer compared to a FS94R?
@jose Tovar, the likelihood of gearbox failure is greater.
Does the FS70R require trimmer head lubrication?
Forget it - I see that it's a sealed system.
Excellent. Thank you
Very professional
Hell yeah great video thanks
How come my FS70R produces white smoke everytime I press the throttle?
Too much oil in your mix
@@jarrod1687 can't be if it's the same mix ratio I use for my chainsaws and they aren't affected
How do you replace the line? I just bought one and cannot figure it out.
We do have a video on how to reload your 25-2 head too.
I'm very interested in this model here. Looking to purchase on for lite home use. The question I have is should I get this one or the fs 56 model? Any advice would be helpful, thanks in advance, take care.
The advantage of the FS56 is easy start. Otherwise the FS70 has more power, less vibration, better gearbox......
@@Carlsmower thank you so much for your help and quick response. Looks like the FS 70 is the best way to go based on your expertise!! I really appreciate you thanks again!!
Would you recommend the fs 91 compared to the fs 70?
Yes. Solid shaft, smoother running, more power, more fuel effecient.
70 is a 2stroke lasts longer lots of power easier to maintain 91 is a 4 mix more parts more problems
@@Carlsmower fs70 vs fs94 ?
Which one has more power? I looked at the specs and they’re almost identical.
@@BigMike-Soetoro they are. I think the FS70 feels like it has a bit more torque. But that’s tough to say
@@Carlsmower yup it makes sense that it has a bit more torque. I saw that the fs70 CC is 27.2 and the fs94 is 24.1. Overall I think the fs70 is a better unit except for the gas tank. It’s extra small.
What cycle oil do y’all use ? Can anyone help me
We use and recommend Stihl Ultra Oil, it is a 50:1 2 cycle oil
@@Carlsmower the 2.6 correct? Also can I use any brand ? Is there a reaosn to use the sthil one over other
@@fabyanm9050 yes 2.6oz to gallon. Stick with a chainsaw branded oil. That said we do see better performance and service life with Stihl oil.
Is there a speed feed for stihl fs 70 r
Yes you can get a speed feed head on the FS70. It’s optional
@@Carlsmower so its going be the same company of stihl well the other question does the stihl fs 70 r its that like almost like a speed feed
@@efrenvenegas3346 it comes with an Autocut 25-2
O ok so thats a speed feed since this is my first stihl ever weed eater
If by speed feed you mean reload without taking it apart it is not. Check out our “how to rewind your Stihl trimmer” video.
Mine didnt come with anything but a manual, and just over 3/4 tank of moto mix
You need a dealer like us close by!
It’s a heavy mf with the guard on. But it’s perfect.
These things are crap. Tried to use today and the pull cord want pull. Not even a year old.
Worst line trimmer I have ever owned, am about to take it back to the shop for a refund. Spent more time driving back and forth to have it repaired than I did using the actual trimmer.
