For those who are interested, This particular singer is a Kun Opera singer, while the original singer was a Peking Opera singer. Kun Opera in its current form started in the 1500s, but the Kun Melody can trace its roots all the way back to the 1300s Kun opera and Peking Opera (original) sounds similar here, because they are both singing to a contemporary tune, Though the difference can be heard when she is not singing at 1:42 and 2:18 , it's a dialect from Suzhou area (West of Shanghai), but the roots of the dialect can be traced back to the 1300s in central China So it can be considered to be the "mandarin" or standard Chinese in the 1300s. When performing the traditional repertoire, Peking Opera is known for its rhythm and flow, SOME parts of Peking opera can be like ancient rap music, like the popular "ching cheng hanji" meme circulating around recently Kun Opera on the other hand is more melodic, with the lyrics following the flow of the music.
Thanks for the information. I couldn't tell a Kun Opera from a Peking Opera if I fell over it. (No offense, it's just a saying expressing ignorance, on my part). But this did remind me of the movie "Peking Opera Blues." If you could explain the story a little that would help.

Never seen Peking opera blues, but the Chinese name for that film is "Dao Ma Dan" which means "Mounted Bladed Dan", which is a character type in Chinese opera, and is what the character in the video is portraying. Dan is a female character in Chinese opera, Dao Ma Dan means a female fighter/ soldier This particular character in the video is Hu Sanniang, she's a character from the 14th century novel Water Margins, she is one of the 108 outlaws of Liangshan

After reading your enlightening background information I feel churlish saying that I still find the singing style difficult. I first saw it performed in London about 5 years ago and was so surprised that I had to look around to see the reactions of the Chinese audience to realise that it was actually a legitimate style. as a fan of chinese periodical dramas, i have been exposed to this type of opera, and when i found out that yunjin was an opera singer and that she will be singing in the archon quest, i had a headcannon that she was performing like traditional opera singers, and this video just fueled that headcannon of mine

Reasons why you should be impressed by this: 1) Her voice is amazing! She stays in tune the entire time, the flow of her voice is as smooth as silk, and she packs such controlled power in her lungs 2) Her movements were so well done! Every step was intentional, and every hand gesture was placed just right. Such small details in everything! 3) This must've taken so much practice!! Imagine all of the hours to learn the song and perform it so well, to memorize and time all of the movements, and to move around in those clothes too. Not to mention that she's singing, dancing, and twirling a miniature spear at the same time. A MINIATURE SPEAR! Could you do that? Not without a ton of practice, I'd be willing to bet! I don't know how she had the motivation to learn how to do that, honestly! This is such stunning work.
Why I love jingju/peking opera, kunqu and also sichuan opera! Although sichuan opera focus a lot on presentation, they have changing masks so I very much recommend! Chinese opera in general is goldmine
I am Indian but most thing I love about China is it's culture, I don't care and don't like political angle but Mihoyo introduced me this beautiful piece of Chinese culture and I really impressed when I heard Yun Jin Chinese Opera.
Because Buddhist culture and teachings developed in China and the rest of East asia, our chinese glossary cannot depart from transliterated Sanskrit wording 剎那(ksana),琉璃(vaiḍūrya),禪(dhyana),even more! No matter what the temporal politics is, as an overseas Chinese, I felt some bond with the Indian culture as much as my Chinese cultural roots.
Finally a kunqu version, I have seen people doing Cantonese, Sichuan opera versions, and I was just patiently waiting. Even better that it’s you guys doing it because you guys can do the real deal with actual opera performers, just like Mihoyo :) Also I wonder, does people over at Shanghai Kunqu Troupe know people over at Shanghai Peking Opera Troupe?

This is an aria of a Chinese opera styling dated 500 years ago. The soprano sings and performs martial art play in "Kuan" style. The story is about an heroine fable killing an evil monster for the good of the people. Watch that there is no repeating of the martial art performance. It is a very difficult performing art involving the singing, dancing skill and kungfu. The "Kuan" style opera was 200 years before the timeline of the Mozart's operas... (Many more on YT by searching 昆曲)
not too likely as this is an actual costume used in real life for a specific character in a specific plot and if mihoyo just used the exact same costume people would mistake yunjin as only performing that specific character - but if you watch the "making of yunjin" video the genshin official RUclips channel released you can see a pink costume in the progress stages that's likely based on this same outfit!

This is an aria of a Chinese opera styling dated 500 years ago. The soprano sings and performs martial art play in "Kuan" style. The story is about an heroine fable killing an evil monster for the good of the people. Watch that there is no repeating of the martial art performance. It is a very difficult performing art involving the singing, dancing skill and kungfu. The "Kuan" style opera was 200 years before the timeline of the Mozart's operas... How amazing would it be if Mihoyo make the costume used in this video for Yunjin skin
not too likely as this is an actual costume used in real life for a specific character in a specific plot and if mihoyo just used the exact same costume people would mistake yunjin as only performing that specific character - but if you watch the "making of yunjin" video the genshin official RUclips channel released you can see a pink costume in the progress stages that's likely based on this same outfit!
