    That was a fantastically fun gaming retreat! T&E is an epic, strategic, slow-to-boil game. I think you’ll find Y&Y to be snappy and more tactical. I spied the Lion’s Green Leader without a neighboring Red Tile, but perhaps that was a teaching scenario. 😉 Interactive games like T&E are just better in person. Enjoy!

      Good spot! I think all of the b-roll was shot during the teach and the timelapse is the TRUE gameplay. I'm very very eager to play Y&Y :). Thanks for spending some time with us!

    I felt the same about Moonrakers after 1 play... after a few more plays though you'll feel differently about the 'Catan' Effect. The first few times around the table is about building your deck specifically to handle a certain type of contract and then youll he off to the races doing contracts on your own. It actually feels like more of an engine builder than an deck builder and ive been so impressed by how efficient you can make your deck in this game. With 3 players we get this done in 30mins. With 5 and a new player or 2 it can easily run closer to 2 hours though

    • @steveg9939
      @steveg9939 4 месяца назад +2

      Interesting thought. Many reviewers said when the game came out that it was dragging on when a player reached 8 points but I also thought that by that time, you should be able to finish a contract by yourself. The more plays, the stronger your engine construction will because you’ll know the cards. I need to get it back to the table with the expansions that I haven’t tried yet.

      30 mins hey? I would definitely play it again if I was confident in that quick of a play time. Maybe we'll play it with 3 players next time.

      Dice Miner is a great filler dice chucker with a good theme. Love that you guys got into Scout, one of my all timers. If you enjoy deckbuilding hybrids Tyrants of the Underdark is super underappreciated. Dune Imperium is my favorite but if I get a 3 or 4 player game of Tyrants it could be 1B.

    With respect to War of the Ring, the card game; I have read loads of reviews and like you have only one game under my belt. The sweet spot in the game is when you do know the cards then it’s a fabulous strategy game between the 2 sides, play, counter play, hidden information (does he have this card), when will that be played, etc it becomes deep and strategic. Well, let’s hope so.

    Time of Empires - I haven't played the game but I also don't like sand timers in games - not sure why, increased stress to make my next move maybe. I like when the concept of time is abstracted into a game, e.g. time track mechanism.

    • @AllYouCanBoard
      @AllYouCanBoard  4 месяца назад +1

      Totally fair! It definitely added to the stress of the game FOR SURE. Gotta be in the mood for that type of game. 👍🏻

    I was surprised with the compliments to Sunrise Lane, based on commentary/buzz level around.

    Fun listening to your opinions on these games, even though our tastes are super aligned. I really liked when Braiden asked you both what surprised you about the game Earth. I think that gets a conversation going which is my dynamic to watch. Nicely done!
    I have the 2015 ed. of The King is Dead and it is consistently in my top 100 games because of how clean it is. Not an easy one to get to the table though, which surprises me, considering how easy it is to play a couple of games back to back.
    Thanks for the tip to go to BGA and play Gift of Tulips. I did that and beat a seasoned player 71 to 70 and felt the tension about where are things going and that final add on to the festival from the secret cards is such a good twist. Gave me feels of Arboretum when you have to gift to your opponent and make their hand really strong, but then you could get 7 points out of that.
    And yes, how do we get in on this cabin weekend?

    It appears that War of the Ring: The Card Game is an overcomplicated and overwrought version of Quartermastermaster General mixed with Smash Up. We love Quartermaster General with Prelude. It's quicker and cleaner and plays up to 6p seamlessly. Great video, the best board game content of the year so far!

    I played several board games over the weekend with two of them being new to me board games! Parks and Isle of sky with the druids expansion. Both ones that ive been excited to try and are newer additions to my collection. Curious to hear opinions on these games, especially Isle of skye as i know Carlo loves carcassonne quite a bit. Ive only played carcassone a couple of times and just the base game but I instantly liked isle of skye better just because of the varied scoring and price setting mechanism. Have any of you tried these games? Of the games you've played over your trip i own ready set bet, caesars empire, libertalia, and keyflower. Libertalia and keyflower im excited for but havent played as of yet. Only one play of caesars empire, and ready set bet but enjoyed both of them a bunch! Keyflower was a purchase due to it being so well regaurded within this channel so kudos on spreading your love for the game!❤

      1. Bus (already pre-ordered a copy of the Capstone reprint coming later this year)
      2. Roads & Boats
      3. The Great Zimbabwe
      Also interested in Antiquity, Indonesia, and Food Chain Magnate, but not as much as the first 3. I have two young kids though (2 1/2 and 8 weeks) so it's tough to find time to play heavy/long games like those. Hopefully soon though!
