    I get the main point of this game. The main point was that to let go the past...if you tried to change time, it will only makes things the worse so that's why Chloe wrote "Just gonna let go."

    What I want to know is why did the universe give Max her powers just in time to save Chloe if the universe intends to kill her anyway!?

    • @ollep0lle
      @ollep0lle 8 лет назад +144

      +Camillus Camillus No!! Dont you dare. Max never asked for these powers and therefore she should not have to bear the guilt for sacrificing Arcadia Bay, after what she went through with Chloe! =(
      I completely agree that the option of saving Chloe felt hollow and incomplete, but only because I think the developer/writer wanted to convey a certain message... Thats how I feel.

      So you could bust Jefferson.The doe(Rachel) gave you powers to avenger her somewat.But cloe was meant to die since day 1 in the bathroom and you changed her fate and like in bioshock infinite:the universe DOSENT like its peas mixed with its porridge

    • @Edithae

      +sarah lafleur
      No, in the end her powers had nothing to do with busting Jefferson. What brought Jefferson down wasn't Max's time travel super powers, it was Chloe's death at Nathan's hands which forced Nathan to expose Jefferson.
      Max wasn't given her powers to save the world, or to stop Jefferson. She was given the power of time travel so two old friends could reconnect before Chloe died. The "best farewell gift" they could have hoped for.

    • @hackaccount7651

      The butterfly gave Max her powers. But why? Well it's simple, Chloe had to experience a little more of everything get to actually be happy for once and finally accept her own destiny, it is really difficult for Max because she is in love with her and no matter what Max will try to protect her. I say the right ending (moral and self growing) is the one you sacrifice Chloe. Max would learn to move on with her life eventually. So that's the point of her Time Traveling powers. She was just the instrument Chloe needed. "I'll be your faithful a companion"

  • @ArvisSc

    The biggest void in your chest is being left when you sacrifice Chloe. If you think about it. When she dies in the bathroom - she feels the same way she felt in the beginning about Max, that she abandoned her and so on. She has no clue of what happened in other realities that involves her and Max. What they've gone through. All the happy and sad moments they had. All she knows is that Max left her to pursue her photographer career without contacting her at all. Only Max has memories of what happened and that is the saddest thing.

      @JohnSmith-qi9gt 4 года назад +54

      bruh imagine carrying that with you for the rest of your life though, having all of these beautiful memories that you made with your best friend, all the laughs you've shared, and all tears you've cried, but knowing deep down that you could never truly share or explain them with anyone else, as they occured in a completely different timeline and reality, one that only you have and ever could experience. And the fact that the person you had all of these amazing adventures with isn't even aware of them. It's kinda like whenever you have a beautiful, perfect dream where everything is okay and more, but then you wake up and try desperatley to hold on to that gorgeous, quickly receding cloud of eternal happiness. But eventually and inevitably, you forget.
      But it wasn't a dream. And Max Caulfield will never forget Chloe Price.

    Sacrificing Arcadia Bay seems so... Short and unnatural, like they added in that ending in the last minute to please everyone. Having Chloe die is the real and true ending, it fits the morale of the game and closes the story full-circle. (I know I know, ironic coming from Chloe herself)

    • @MatthewPaul92
      @MatthewPaul92 8 лет назад +43

      But in a game that's all about choice there really shouldn't be a "true" ending. Doing that kinda breaks the immersion of having a personal story. To me anyway. I mean there's already division between fans on the endings. Not because of the it's bad but seems to stem more on how Ending A has more than Ending B. Know what I mean?

    • @Zoltri
      @Zoltri 8 лет назад +7

      +Matthew Fernandez I hate to be that guy, but if were being perfectly honest the choices and personal story of this genre of games is such a false reality. When I think back to all the different games that are just telling a story with little to know game play the one that stands out to me more then anything else was To the moon. It had no choices, no different conversation paths and because of that it was able to just tell a damn good, beautiful story. I loved life is strange, but I loved it as a thought provoking story with a lot of lessons to be learned from it, not as a dynamic tale determined by my choices.

    • @Zoltri
      @Zoltri 8 лет назад

      Calad Euka With Life is strange specifically sure, but if you go check the key notes for another game of the same genre such as The walking dead it boasts about how your actions have weight and meaning to them.
      "A tailored game experience - Live with the profound and lasting consequences of the decisions that you make in each episode. Your actions and choices will affect how your story plays out across the entire series. " From the steam store page, 2ed key feature.

    So one is to let a disaster strike Arcadia Bay or reset the whole timeline into the day Chloe dies. Sad thing for sacrificing Chloe is that Max remembers of everything she had with Chloe, but Chloe does not remember a single thing she had with Max.

      @BloodwolfTico 4 года назад +8

      That... is really sad. At least she also remembers the good memories... even if they are just that... memories. I think Chloe not remembering all that she shared w Max don't matter much anymore, since she isn't alive to think about them either.

    • @JessakaYMS
      @JessakaYMS 4 года назад +21

      I kinda feel like sacrificing Chloe at the end makes the whole game for nothing...yeah I mean Max now has all these new memories with her and Chloe but now because Chloe dies at the very beginning, she’s not aware that Max is in Arcadia Bay so she dies still thinking that not only Max abandoned her but so did Rachel, she never gets that closure as well. She ends up dying with all this anger in her heart the she never gets to resolve.

      +4tahlulz4 An 18 year girl that's still in school, one day out of nowhere runs around town screaming that the town is going to be wiped out by a hurricane and everyone needs to be evacuated. Then when people start to ask you about it your excuse is that you had a vision about it. I'm sure no one would think you're crazy. How about this piece of logic: A massive storm is ALREADY hitting the town, we can see its going to level the town since most of it is in ruins, so what should we do? Hmmm, OH I KNOW - let's hide in the diner! In no way should we take what time we have left, hop in a car and floor it out of the town, lets sit around and wait to die!

    i choosed to sacrifice Chloe. Then I noticed that with the photo of the butterfly Chloe and Max actually didn't had to hurry with there decision in that situation: in theory they could have had both endings. For example they could live together as friends until they get old, so that Chloe would have had a nearly normal life and then (at age 70?) Max could use her powers to go back in time and let Nathan kill Chloe. The old Max would have the memories of a life with her best friend and in that alternate reality Arcadia Bay would still be save. But this means that Chloe never could have a family because they would disappear too.

    Saving Chloe is a terrible ending imo. It doesn't really give any closure, and even though everybody's dead and they've driven off into the sunset, I get the feeling that if Chloe surviving really did cause the storm, then fate will catch up with her soon after the ending and everyone will have died for nothing. Sacrificing Chloe is a horrible choice to make but it has way more emotional impact and it feels more like it provides 'a moral to the story'. It feels way more like that's the way things were supposed to go. Also the music is better.

    seeing all the beautfiul memories with chloe replaced at the "sacrifice chloe" ending is reason enough for me to not choose that. These moments and memories is what life is made of and what nourishes our souls. Chloe and Max deserve to be happy together and cherish these memories together. Sacrificing Arcadia Bay is the stupidest ending you could choose.
    I mean, you kill EVERYONE in Arcadia Bay. Joyce, Warren, Frank, Principal Wells, Kate (if she was saved), just everyone, and then they both abandon the town and drive off into the sunset.
    All the relationships built up in the game is left for naught when you Sacrifice Arcadia Bay.
    There's no reason to Save Chloe, she was supposed to die to begin with the same way The Butterfly Effect film portrays as well.

I realized even with the fate of thousands of people at stake, I still chose the person I cared about over all of them. I realize that the Sacrifice Chloe ending might be better, but I am perfectly happy with Max spending the rest of her life with Chloe in LA. I just picture them driving away from the ruins and tragedy of Arcadia Bay with Baba O'Reilly blasting on the radio driving off into the sunset. The past is over, no more rewinding. It's time to move on to a new chapter.

      I wish the Bay Sacrifice had an ending where things were...fulfilled, like Chloe calling Max out for her selfish decision (Chloe's mother is DEAD, but I guess Chloe cared even less about her) or something where Chloe and Max have remorse when leaving.
      But nope, "Lol, LET'S DRIVE TO L.A. AND LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER WHERE EVERYONE'S DEAD, GO PRICEFIELD!"

    I would rather sacrifice Arcadia bay because Max has been through so much to save Chloe, it would be pointless to just let her die after everything you've did to save her. Not only that, I wouldn't want Joyce to be devastated/depressed after losing another love one and have Mr. Jefferson (possibly) roaming the school drugging and kidnapping young girls (with out being "possibly caught") and pretended like everything was just a blur, like it never happened.

    • @carlosroubert8681
      @carlosroubert8681 7 лет назад +52

      You do not understand the point of the game. She already used the rewind, she already knows what is going to happen. If she prevents Chloe from dying, she will alters fate and causes the tornado. What happened without Max intervening was that Chloe died and that is what need happen, period.

    • @whoddaya
      @whoddaya 7 лет назад +20

      The tornado happened not because of Chloe but because of the many rewinds she used, imo. Going back to the beginning of the game and just telling Nathan to stop right there in the bathroom would've made for a good ending, too. And what if Nathan killed both Chloe and Max? I could've taken that as well as opposed to simply sacrificing Chloe.

    • @alexwells6876
      @alexwells6876 8 лет назад +7

      +KarnyKraft The message that the Sacrifice Chloe ending is trying to get across is that Chloe already had her fate written for her. Max tried to save her a number of times from dying but she was originally meant to die in that bathroom. I also think a stronger message we get from this ending is that over the weeks that Max had spent with Chloe, it had made her a stronger person. The things that she had done while getting to the bottom of the mystery of Rachel Amber she would have never had done before. And while Chloe wasn't perfect, she also helped push Max to do these things. She became the "everyday hero" with help from Chloe.

      +KarnyKraft Max powers started when she took a picture of that butterfly. The butterfly got blue hair like Chloe. I think she got that power because It's the death wish of Chloe. Look at all the things they done together after max saved her with her rewind power. Listen to everything she said at the lighthouse before max made her choice. we all thought that the story was about saving Arcadia bay when we saw that storm at the start. But at the end, we saw that the whole story was about Chloe.

    Both endings take place in alternate realities that exist. By sacrificing Arcadia Bay you stay in the current reality where Chloe lives and everyone else dies. By sacrificing Chloe you leave to an alternate reality (which could actually be the original) where your week with Chloe never happened and the storm never came. I think both realities run together and this is why you see the blue butterfly at Chloe's funeral because no matter what they were always linked together.

No, those people dont get a full ending, they get a destroyed town and some sad music, while those who sacrifice Chloe get a full fledged ending. In a game about choices that doesnt sit well with me, but that may just be me.

    • @MRocky323
      @MRocky323 8 лет назад +1

      +TheShaq125 Why would she still die? If she's ALWAYS destined to die in that bathroom by Nathan, then the Storm should NOT have stopped after it destroyed Arcadia Bay. There's no reason for it to, which makes me believe that Max and Chloe are NOT the direct cause of it.

    • @NOPESBERN
      @NOPESBERN 8 лет назад +3

      +MRocky323 I think I figured it out; the direct cause of the storm is the butterfly. Notice that the butterfly in this ending smoothly leaves after Chloe gets shot, preventing the storm from happening. In any situation in which Max tries to stop Nathan from killing Chloe, either by rewinding or physically stopping him, the butterfly would not fly the way it should do to prevent the storm from happening. I think the writers took the "butterfly effect" literally there, as it is part of the Chaos Theory the entire game is based on. Also, saving her countless times kinda reminds me of the movie "Final Destination" - it doesn't matter how many times you escape from dying after your hour has come - Death will always come for you.

    Without Chloe, you’ll suffer in this empty uncaring world with nobody by your side. You may make new friends, but you already know theres no way they can replace Chloe. You may kiss Warren, but won’t that remind you of Chloe? You may go to the two whales diner for a lunch, but how will you feel when you see the trucker still drops his mug, the cop is still left alone by his partner, Trevor and Justin are still fighting, but Chloe is no longer sitting in front of you? You may go to Joyce’s house to see her, but how can you face Chloe’s empty room, the sofa, the pictures, the swing, the snow doe, and everything else? The worse part is nobody will even know how much you care about her, Joyce may even blame you for not being around in the 5 years. Are you sure you are ready to face a Arcadia Bay like that?
    On the other hand, if you save Chloe, you can finally go to LA together this time for good. David is still alive, you can still run to him. You can also take Chloe to your parents who live in Seattle. Everything will be fine. People die everyday, and I’m not a superhero. I was given this power to rewind time, but it only allows me to save one person, thats Chloe.

    I just noticed this story really sends a powerful message that you can’t change the past and trying to change something to good can always have consequences. Also for the people wondering why saving Chloe = storm and saving Kate = no storm if the story continued after Chloe’s death Kate probably would have died too, as Max still had to use her powers to slow time so she could reach Kate in time, plus Kate’s suicide was supposed to happen (it was supposed to happen in the timeline of literally just time itself and present events, it couldn’t be changed otherwise it would mess time up).

    as devastating it would be to sacrifice Arcadia Bay, i could never and will never bring myself to kill Chloe. every single time i played i saved her because to me it is just so hard to see her, a best friend, die and Max could never share what she went through with Chloe if she chose to kill her. she will have to keep all that to herself. also, living with all those memories and no one knowing about them just breaks my heart. even if the majority of Arcadia Bay dies, i could never kill Chloe so that everyone else is safe. after all they've been through, all the trouble Max has been through to save her, i feel like one last time she should save her for good. even if sacrificing Chloe is more logical and natural, i will never do it no matter how many times i play the game.

    The destroy Arcadia ending doesn't hit as hard for me because it doesn't really give any confirmation that any of Max and Chloe's loved ones died. We see lots of destruction, and of course some people would've died, but there's no concrete proof that any of the characters we interacted with are among the casualties. Not to mention, we didn't spend much time with any of the characters aside from Chloe in the game, so even if it did show, say, Warren or Cloe's mom dead, I feel like it would still have less impact than seeing Chloe get killed.

    From what I can tell is that if you save the town then she remembers everything that happened before that choice except new memories that replaced any choice she made with a picture. So she remembers the time with Chloe but nothing from the new time line that happened after she let her die. This means she goes from hearing Chloe die to being back on the bench by the lighthouse without memories of what happened after. Either way, I let the town die. I didn't just put hours of my actual life into saving Chloe to just let her die for a town that doesn't seem to care about it's own people.

      And at the end of the day, saving Chloe again from the storm is pointless. The whole message of the game is that no matter how much you try to change the past, and change time, everyone has a destiny, Chloe's is unfortunately to die. It's obvious considering how many times she almost dies during the game and Max has to reverse time to save her. Even though in this ending she is safe, the universe will just keep attempting to kill her until max cannot use her powers to save her

    • @yoimea
      @yoimea 7 лет назад +2

      The game has two messages. One is that once person can change your life, and even if that one person isn't that important, that person was still the one who changed your life and that person will always be worth more than one whole city. One is what you just said.

    Am I the only one who prefers the Arcadia bay ending? I like it more because you keep your best friend.. and you two pull through the pain of loss together, they're there for eachother. It hurts.. but in my opinion Arcadia is my preferable. Besides, Warren got the kisssssss LOL

    A few things don't make sense in this ending, and part of this is why I chose to "sacrifice" Arcadia Bay. Now hear me out. I picked that knowing it's the "worse" choice because I felt it was what I would do if it was really happening, and here is why. Logically, the storm should really have nothing to do with Max saving Chloe, and I would have thought of that at that moment. I know that's not how the game is and Max saving Chloe is obviously what caused the storm according to the game. Max gets the vision of the storm BEFORE she saves Chloe. I don't think anywhere in the game did it ever give her the power to see what "could" happen in the future if she does something... So to me if I was in her position, I would think that the storm would happen regardless, that's why I had the vision before I did anything with the rewind powers. Also, in my story I also save Kate from jumping, so if the storm is due to that, wouldn't that also cause a storm? Lastly, by reporting Jefferson and Prescott, wouldn't you also be saving countless lives they might have taken in the future? Basically, it doesn't make much sense that it all boils down to just Chloe. So because of that, despite cheating a bit and watching both endings before I chose, I still chose to "sacrifice" Arcadia Bay under the pretense that my character in the game feels that sacrificing Chloe wouldn't change anything.

      @poopoomcpoo9411 8 лет назад +2

      +slagman5 it does, because obviously if you sacrifice her the storm doesn't happen, so it's a consequence of her being alive.

      +slagman5 Kate would not try to kill herself after people discovered what M. Jeff did to her. She would got help, love and understanding she needed to survive. I don't know if you noticed that but right after Nathan was arrested, Jefferson also was (thanks to Nathan's testimony).

      Uh, it's not that you're arguing against my point, I'm fine with that. Your original comment completely ignored the part of my comment where I acknowledge that I know that was the game's intent, obviously since choosing to sacrifice Chloe will prevent the storm. I was explaining why logically it doesn't make sense for that to be the explanation.
