That’s not the reason. Tekken Tag 2 was just about to be released in America by the time EVO 2012 came around, so there just wasn’t enough interest in Tekken 6 by that point. Plus, none of the top Korean players attended in 2011, if they did, chances are some of these Bob players would’ve went the same way they did against Nin’s Steve in 2010 ;)
Not very exciting for a grand final. Bob was s tier in T6 but such a boring character imo. Almost feel sorry for these two players considering how uninterested the crowd is in this fight. Looks like some of them are about to fall asleep.

@Pandaman64 They tryin 2 bait a strong or long range move, which take longer 2 recover from if properly blocked, which can/will lead to a juggle. Like in SF4 if someone miffs an upper cut and then they get ultra'd. If you miff a move in this, you can get tekken ultra'd which can be multiple types of combos for multiple types of starting range, if its rising, caught in the air, within wall range toward the end, or within wall range during the middle or start.
@b0niK1337 I know why they were playing safe, and I don't down that (safe play is usually good play). And traps are something I understand (every good fighter has them, lol), but that's nothing to do with what I'm talking about. For example, that range miguel was stutter stepping at, what characters would that stutterstep range be a bad place to be? I don't think there are any, because everyone fights at really similar ranges. Feel free to correct me, because I'd like to be wrong.

For example, in SF4 you can do 3 things on the ground, get up and block/ get up and try 2 uppercut on 1st frame or throw counter. In tekken, you can -roll left- roll right- roll back- roll foreward - rising low or high, leaping jump, short kick or just stand.
i was actually looking forward to seeing tekken at evo, till i actually saw it and got bored to death with almost everyone picking bob. i was hoping for more diversity and to see a good variety of characters.
@dwb17 They've devolved it to a tapping/launching fest because that's what HAPPENS when you have a game where all chars play at the same range, and have roughly the same goals. This game devolved the same way SF3 devolved to a hitconfirm/super or EX move-fest. When the game is all footsies, what else are they gonna do? SF (except 3) has radically different goals for different characters, and that makes for more strategic options.
@zozma38 how so? tekken looks like the same footsies you could find in literally any fighting game, but with more complicated execution. Please explain what makes tekken so "intricate" in comparison to other fighters. [not sarcasm, explain in detail]

@Pandaman64 Hmm...Tekken has more combos period. ONE Tekken character has more combos than alot of the Street Fighter characters for one. There is no one way to start a combo and turn it into an infinite like it is in SF. That means more possibilites to set things up rather than depending on landing ONE punch or kick to start a combo. No one spams "Hadouken" or turns into Dark Phoenix, fly into the air, and spam the heat seeking fireballs. That happens in MvC 3. There's more but not enough room
@Pandaman64 Range is hard to percieve like a noob to sf4. Like @ 2:06 miguel tries to do a launch trap (sf4 uppercut trap equivilent). So only if bob did an attack he would be caught. Most of these players style was to deny the opponent of pulling off any time consuming move, baiting the opening and chipping away safely. Both players were playing safe probably because of the prize money.

Tekken is the best fighting game. Theres no getting caught in a corner or spamming projectiles no gay ass ultras that take more than half your health. Tekken has parrying badass command throws and tackles. Not to mention each character has at least 80 to 150 or more moves . When i watch any other its the same moves n special moves. Tekken has way more variety and is the only game of its kind unlike the 50 2D games out there.
yeah but then again it depends on how well you know how to play yoshi. for me basically if were to play an online match right now id have more wins with yoshi then bob just because i know alot more of his moves from past tekkens and i find that these moves are stuck into my head where as playing with bob i will mostly forget even after a 1 or 3 hours of practice just kauze his moves and combos are all new..

Rock paper scissors doesn't become a deeper game because you added 5 more hand signs you can throw. Again, everyone looks too similar in playstyle, and feels like they have really similar goals. Tekken feels like a 3D version of SF3.
@LerybTekken Btw also I must say. Movements and spacing is way harder than SF. In my opinion. Takes more activity to evade and dash and space well in Tekken.

I'm pretty sure there isn't, which makes for a homogenous experience. the matchups are too similar to eachother.
@zylone I agree, even as Tae kwon do Practitioner. You do have to be able to read your opponent similar to fighting in real life. Not just over use n spam juggles, people are missing the point great info n post.
@JacopeX what's interesting is tekken 6 had more prize money for the winner at evo. 1st place in MK9 got 3600$, while the winner of the match in this vid got $5068 So tekken had more prize money in the pot, but less views.
@MqLuvvaLuvva19 First of all it's not a char to play aggressively with. You have to build a lot of mind game and poke a lot with quick lows and mids. Also set up to throws is strongly recommended. If you want check my channel's most recent Raven videos to find out better. They're online though, but i'll shortly have the chance to play back with some really strong guys(one of which is Harry Potter). I suggest you to stay tuned. ;)

And about 45% of my wins have involved an ultra but in any case, every game has it's comeback feature, except for tekken, which is interesting as hell seeing as it's one of the last that doesn't have such mechanics and could be considered the last of it's generation.

@ZombifiedGuitarist: What's sad is that even though Bob is top tier (along with Law, Lars and Steve) its not impossible to beat him with lower tiered characters. Both these guys are playing to win and Bob is an easy way to do that. Consider that in Korea's Tekken Crash, every character has a shot. There was a Marduk/Lili final over there not long ago. Characters like Ganryu are a force to be reckoned with. If you want to watch some fun Tekken, then watch Tekken Crash.

maybe so, but Tekken has more then 40 characters and only 2 characters are being used, I see a big problem there. MK9 had 7 or 9 different characters.
