About this project: I am writing a weekly sci-fi story to the theme of Isaac Arthur’s SFIA videos. It’s a crazy challenging timeframe to create a good short story in, and to do so publicly is even more daunting. I’m just hoping some good stories come out of this, I have fun writing them, and most importantly, the audience enjoys!

Sort of a digital afterlife....
I watched Isaac's Afterlives and 2323 episodes yesterday, and of course he had some interesting takes, multitudes of options being prominent. The option to continue at all would be an excellent choice to have imo.

In some of the '70s John Varley science fiction short stories, you had your memories recorded every so often. If something permanent happenef to you, a clone of you was grown, and given the memories of your ladt update...
@@scottthomas6202 That's interesting, almost like your body as a suit for your memories. I guess I tend to look at it like: as long as there's continuity of consciousness in some form after the body dies, it's fair to call it an "afterlife." But I'm sure there are a lot of facets to that I haven't thought about exhaustively.

You're a really awesome Sci-fi writer and narrator, not a lot of fluff, it's great to find a new channel in it's infancy n see it grow. Listened to your whole Misfits universe in two days thoroughly injoying it's journey n feeling not a waste of time. [spoiler alert if you havent read the stories yet] I'm wondering if it's because the AI are digitized humans 🤔Maícon said "I have gone through this process myself many times and can assure you everything is as it should be, Rishi." Although that seems to be specifically talking about the "waking up" process, not necessarily the "human digitilization" process.... Now im wondering if that means Misfits series actually contains no true AI... In that universe can AI be created from "nothing", or does it always require a human life? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I also wonder if any Maícons have different personalities or if they're all exact copies. @RoweLit you're creating some mysteries 👌 I always like some "unknowns"

[*Spoilers as well] The AI in the Misfits series are AI, and Rishi would be what they call UCs (uploaded consciousnesses), though UCs are exceedingly rare in this storyworld. Maicon here is referring to the process of switching out his core to a new situation "waking up" (body/ship/etc) as you noted.

I'm not sure I could do it without it turning either insanely dark or a full blown comedy like the South Park guys did. 🍖🤣

@@debtrunner7929 It's probably hard for people to fit their conception of that theme together with most of my other stories. It would be a little bit of a shift 😂
That said, if it ever wins, I'll give it a go!
So the big question for me is did you come up with this story line when you first made Yankee Chaos? Or did you have a vague idea or did your previous morph Rishi story? Because from what I remember Rishi has always been described as a unique AI. But now Rishi is a merging of a human conscience with AI.

Thanks, Todd! She has always been the same form; however, the crew and Rishi herself often describe her to outsiders as a unique AI and only disclose her true nature to a select few (like Carolina, for instance). Glad you enjoyed this one!
