    Good lord, they finally added a gasket to the pan! Thank you so much for posting this!! I am on my 3rd pan on my 2016, hopefully this will correct the issue.

      I bet it will. Just make sure you check to see if it has the updated valve covers. The new updated pan will not have side chambers & check valve so the valve covers will need to be the updated units as well 🤞👍
      Also, the service bulletin has been updated to 24-2098 now

    Excellent info! I resealed mine and now its leaking again. This looks like the way to go!

      My guess is the oil pan leak is caused by incorrect crankcase pressure and that's why Ford has redesigned the breather system 🤷‍♂️

    Nice video. I have a 2022 F150 2.7 with the older style valve covers. I did not notice the ribs that you mention in your video. What if any problems could arise with this style valve cover. I have installed a JLT catch can. Thanks.

      2018 & UP 2.7L oil pan and valve covers have been completely redesigned so you are all good 👌

    I'd like to get the name of the engineer who when Ford management said "where can we pull XX amount of dollars out of the motor suggested a plastic oil pan to save probably $3 per pan. Lets try to get his name so we can ask him WTF was he thinking! 😅 Its called coefficient of thermal expansion and even non mechanical engineers are taught it in engineering school that plastic and aluminum are certainly different!

    Not sure where you are working now, can you do a goose neck hitch install on a Ford super duty?

      Bickford Ford. Our service department doesn't do installs anymore. I work for the sales department and do installs on their new pickups. I may be able to make special arrangement

    I just ordered the updated pan and valve covers for my truck. Is the torque specs still the same on the updated pan about 120 inch pounds?

    • @raincitywrench117
      @raincitywrench117  5 месяцев назад

      Here are the torque specs from workshop:
      Install the new oil pan and the bolts.
      Torque:
      Stage 1: 31 lb.in (3.5 Nm)
      Stage 2: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)
      Install the valve cover and tighten the bolts.
      Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

      How much did everything run you? Was it also a difficult job?

      @MultiBMarsh Месяц назад

      @@minecrafter4623I don’t really remember the exact dollar amount I’m thinking somewhere around 500. I took the part number from this video and called my ford dealer and then went to tasca parts website. I saved around 100 dollars by using tasca. The oil pan was pretty easy since I’ve done a few of those but the valve covers were a little tricky for me. I just took my time and worked on it off and on for 3 days or so. Keep in mind I’m not a mechanic just a guy with a few tools and a garage

    Do you have to change the valve covers if you run a catch can?

    • @raincitywrench117
      @raincitywrench117  6 месяцев назад

      That I don't know. I think if just the updated pan is installed there will be oil ingestion but should work if a catch can is used 🤷‍♀️

      @@raincitywrench117 well I had the oil pan changed out and now I’m getting lots of oil into my catch can. I don’t know if the new oil pan caused this but I have to empty it every 20 min drive. I’m ready to sell the damn truck for a lost.

      @@joesanchez9512what year is the truck? If it’s 15-17 you need to replace the valve covers if you install the new updated pan. Unless you already have the updated valve covers with the extended plastic around the ignition coils.

      I liked my 2016 2.7 F150 truck enough, that I put the $3100 into it for the oil pan and valve covers. This was done 5/2/24. In the 4 months since, I have had to add approximately 3 quarts of oil. It’s not leaking, it’s not smoking. Anyone having this issue or have an idea what the cause could be? I’m using the 5w-30 Motorcraft synthetic blend.
