At a concert he had in Stockholm, Sweden, in the beginning of the 1970s I (a passionate indian music lover) went backstage and invited him and the tabla player Mahapurush Misra to my apartment for tea and scones. We had a very nice evening, discussing music and they signed my record with them of course. Beutiful memory!
The Great Indian classical music presentation of Raga 🎼 Jog on Sarengi by his excellency , Sarengi maestro Late 🙏🕉️ Pandit Ramnarayan , it was a profound rendition at Shiraz Arts festival 1970's . O my god ! It was young Suresh Talwalkar ji , the great " Talyogi " 🙏 Pandit Suresh Talwalkar on tabla accompaniment with the maestro . Wah ! What a happy and laughing mood playing . Full of contentment , heartily 💖 presented by both of the accompanist , god gifted atmosphere of 🎼 tune and rhythm..........
Pure North Indian Classical Music at it's best. Just hear how like the human voice this instrument is..Manic yet in complete control, listen to the tihais, Oh yeah!
I just love watching Ram Narayan play and you can see the joy that creating this beautiful music gives him. The joy is contagious! Thanks for posting, I am a HUGE fan of the sarangi : )
I remember heard RNs beautifull Yaman Kalyan in Vivid Bharathis sangeeth Saritha [ 7-30 am ] Anuranjani [ 3-30 pm ] and Swar Sudha [ 6-45 pm ] and also some other ragas and never after...THANX to this vedio
Dear Dr Miller, I can't thank you enough for your videos about Afghan, Persian, and Indian. It's so amazing how Afghan music has influenced Indian music and vice versa and how much they have in common e.g. both Afghan and Indian/Pakistani musicians sit on the floor, unlike almost any other musical tradition (I think). Thanks a lot. Pax Tecum, Haroon.
More of Ram's concert along with Ravi shankar's concert at Shiraz is on a DVD we occasionally offer which can be found on our jazzscope website. Dr. Lloyd Miller

Thanks for the identification! I wouldn't have recognized him so young. It makes sense though: he's playing a khuraj tabla...
this music is so artful and has such great texture with only two instruments! wtf

Haroon.
Afghanistan pakistan are all part of india only.
He started tuning!!! :-O
It was great to see how that didn't affect the perfomance, great!!!
Of all the beautiful instruments in Hindustani music, the sarangi is probably the most lovely and expressive.
I had the delightfull experience to enjoy one of Pandit Ram Narayans gigs in the early 90s: one to be remembered.
Magnificent!
Thanks.
Thanks for uploading a recording of a bygone age.
It’s not a bygone age. This music is still going on today.
His style of playing, his face...?!?! It's obvious...
