Hi, I love watching your videos as I want to be a pilot and this is a great source of advice from an actual pilot. I have wanted to be a pilot since I was very young and and now I'm 14 I think that there should be something to do to increase my chances of becoming one. I have asthma that isn't to bad, would I pass the medical test one and what advice would you give me? Cheers

***** When i was a kid i always wanted to be a pilot, till now i am 17 years old going on my senior year, and i had lots of thoughts on how to get more opportunities to get employed, so i thought that i would do aeronautical engineering at a university then go for my aviation classes as a commercial pilot, what do you think is this a better idea than going directly for the aviation classes , do i have better advantage than others? Another thing i want to ask are the salaries of an airline pilot good to live a normal life or better?(around how much does the salaries go for?)
I really like your videos +1 sub :) i hope u answer me:)

    Hi Mentour
Can you do a new video, how to pass an airline interview but more focus on the technical aspects, like questions to expect apart the one regarding the previous aircraft flown, and also what to train to pass the simulator assessment ?
Can you include also in the video How to prepare a proper CV ?
Thank you and keep doing this.

Hi mentour pilot, I failed my class 1 medical on the colour test both the ishihara and the CAD test. They would issue me a class 2 medical but not a class 1. Would that be it unless they change any law at some point if they do or is there a way around it even if it means remembering the ishihara test? I don't struggle differentiating between red and green in every day life as I can tell from the shade of the colour as to what the colour is. I only struggle on the tests

Hi sir I have a question, I was involved in an accident at work which resulted in my left hand being crushed. My 1st and 5th metacarpal bones where snapped in two, I had surgery which required screws and plates and a year later had them removed which was last Friday, I'm still recovering but was wondering if you think that would affect me going for an ATPL? Thanks mentour and please keep up the brilliant videos!

I know this is slightly unrelated but...
I know a degree will help you in the future and will provide a back up should being a pilot not work out but for most airlines you don't need a degree, but will having a degree actually make much difference as to wether or not you get the job

Hello sir! I was wondering whether the blood tests for the CAA were done as a 'draw up' (needle in arm and draw up) style or as a venipuncture (finger prick). The reason I ask is because I have extreme needle phobia and the thought of having to have a needle stuck in my arm almost sends me into an extreme panic attack.

    • @debbyconnor9498
      @debbyconnor9498 6 лет назад

It will be a needle stick in the arm. A finger prick doesn't provide enough blood for the tests. I hate needles as well and I have found the best way to do it is to look away and relax as much as possible. When you tense up expecting it to hurt it will hurt more than if you are relaxed. Looking away ensures that you don't tense up at least until after it is in the vein and then it doesn't hurt any more. Just remember to stay as still as possible when they stick you because that will make it easier to get the vein.

    Hi,
I wanted to ask is the cost of training to be a pilot worth the job at the end of it? Also is it even possible for someone from a working class family to find the money to pay for their training? From what I've seen the most a cadet can get from a loan is £14,500 which still leaves a huge gap for me and my family to fund and I can't find any other way to fund my ambitions. I just wanted to ask before I commit to becoming a pilot. Thanks :)

Hi, I was wondering about weight. Can your weight have something to say when you're doing the medical or even while being a pilot? I mean would it be a problem if your weight was slightly below than what's normal? Or even if it is higher than what's normal?
I hope someone can answer me, knowing that this video is a bit old now :) Thanks.

Hi! Thank you so much, I was worried that no one could answer me :) I was just wondering since I've heard someone talk about that pilots need to stay healthy, and to stay healthy, they need to be in the "good" weightclass.
But I will now continue pursuing my dream of becoming a pilot :D
      Thanks! :)

    Hi Mentour,
I just read online that in order to become a pilot you need perfect or good teeth .i.e no cavity or decay, no missing teeth, white teeth, healthy teeth and gums.
    Is this true?
Can I become a pilot if my teeth aren't perfect?
    Thanks,

Goddagens!

Nice video! By the way, I have question about airspeed. Sorry for the not related question with this video..Differences bewteen indicated airspeed(IAS) and True airspeed(TAS) in non standard temperature make me really confused. I already read lot of articles about them but they are still confusing. People say IAS is less than TAS as altitude increase due to less air density going into pitot static system. Does it mean that air density does not affect TAS? I'v learned that air density affects aircraft prrformance a lot. Hope your kind explanation..

    Hi. How are you?
I would like to know, is wearing spectacles a restriction on the class 1 medical certificate?
I wear spectacles and I want to become a pilot. Other than that my health is very good. Some training courses and airlines require an unrestricted class 1 medical certificate. So I would like to know if wearing spectacles a restriction on the class 1 medical

Wearing spectacles (up to a limit) is not a restriction but it is a limitation requiring you to wear and carry a spare pair whenever you are flying. Hope this helps.

Almost no chance of that ever happening. The only confirmed person to be hit by a meteorite was in 1954 in Sylacauga, Alabama. You have a much better change of getting struck by lightning than a meteorite.

This isn't to do with the video, but is a genuine question, so here goes.
I'm currently 17, and will hopefully be beginning flight training a year from now (providing the medical goes well). I am fortunate enough to have parents that will fund me if I go down the modular route, but not integrated as that is too much for them. If I where to do modular, I would do it all at the same FTO, as I hear that is more favourable when airlines are hiring modular recruits. My question is this: would I be at a disadvantage form doing modular as a pose to integrated? Are airlines going to go for integrated students over modular?
Any advice is greatly appreciated. Love the videos, keep them up. Thanks, Lewis.

Hi, I have an unrelated question from the aviation enthusiast side of your viewer base.
How has your airline career impacted your recreational flying?
Do you fly outside of your career? Do you still feel, what I think is normal to our type, the need to "keep going" (i.e. get more ratings, fly more, different aircraft, etc.)? Being an airline captain, do you feel like you've "peaked" as far as aviation goes? Are there things in aviation you aspire to still?
Thank you very much. I found your channel a week ago and I think it gives great insight into the human interest story of flying. Good luck growing your channel!
