I'm a Japanese person who has been watching anime for over 45 years. There are 2,000 voice actors in Japan. These 10 people just happened to be selected from the past few years, and in reality, there are easily over 100 voice actors who are as talented as them. It was just luck. Don't get me wrong about that.
Not mentioning that Sugibro is basically a Gintoki (THAT HE VOICES) from Gintama is fucking CRIMINAL. No mention of the harem king Matsuoka or VAs with unique/memorable voices like Aoi Yuuki Rie Kugimiya, and recent fan fav Rie Takahashi... The list is normie (in a worst way possible) as hell.
As a Japanese person, I just want to say this. Masako Nozawa is a legend✨ She's still active at 88 years old, and there's a new Dragon Ball anime coming out this fall.

Kana Hanazawa should be here - she's been in more than 100 shows I've watched or plan to and is extremely well know cause of how much stuff she's been in. Hell I keep up with voices actors and don't know half these because they're mostly just in 1 or 2 REALLY big shows and nothing else really notable, Rie Takahashi should definitely be here as well but her big shows are only really big in the anime community - Konosuba, Re:Zero, Oshi no Ko + She voices the most or close to most well known character in each of those so I think that was how this was decided - mentions of Game of Thrones and other dubs of big movies does not help this assumption either
Yeah, when Miyano Mamoru was #4, I was like, "Well, Kana Hanazawa must be top 3..." Unfortunately all the shonen bros make these lists. #justiceforshoujo

Leaving so much better voice actors than them and choosing them is very dumb takes! Lastly For Sugita san, not mentioning Gin san is definitely a crime. He is really Gin san in real life.
The voice of a character can make or break a show. Look at the English dub for yugioh zexal. It’s the most famous yugioh show in Japan, yet in America it’s almost universally hated. Ignoring how extremely talented the voice actors for Goku and Naruto are, they dont JUST voice those characters. Those are just the characters that always pop up when you search them. Bro, how could they don't mention Sugita Tomokazu voicing Gintoki from Gintama?????? Sure it's not mainstream but Gintoki is one of his masterpiece role and a popular one at that!!! Iconic isn't even enough to describe it
I don't really have favourite male VAs but personally, Sawashiro Miyuki and Kayano Ai are up there with how they can exude lots of emotions with each word they say. Words can't describe how much their voices mesmerise me.
My favorite Japanese VA is Junya Enoki, his popular role is Yuji Itadori in Jujutsu Kaisen and he also dubbed Tom Holland's Spider-Man in MCU! He even got approved by Tom during international interview of Spider-Man: No Way Home and it's available on Sony Japan's RUclips channel!
I like how Tomokazu Sugita is only known for those and definitely been forgotten for his work in Gintama as Gintoki where most of the voice actors felt like they were just having fun, including Kenjiro Tsuda lol
Go figure they don’t mention the fact that Son Goku wasn’t the first anime protagonist Nozawa Masako used her voice for. Her first anime protagonist is Kitaro from GeGeGe no Kitaro in 1968, 1971, and did Kitaro from Graveyard Kitaro in 2008. She also voice Medama Oyaji in GeGeGe no Kitaro in the 2018 anime and the latest 2023 GeGeGe no Kitaro movie- Kitaro Tanjou: GeGeGe no Nazo. Nozawa did want to do the 1985 GeGeGe no Kitaro anime as Kitaro, but she was already voicing Goku, and Japan doesn’t allow a VA to do more than one protagonist at the same time within the same animation studio and both Dragon Ball and GeGeGe no Kitaro are Toei. I get Goku is a bigger anime protagonist, still a shame no mention to her first major role. It’s crazy to think what could have happened if Nozawa picked 1985 Kitaro over the OG Dragon Ball’s Goku which released next year in 1986. Nozawa’s first anime role was in 1963 Tetsuwan Atom (Astro Boy).
If I had to name 10 voice actors as my favourite ones, I'd say (unordered): - Mamoru Miyano. This man is just too funny, I love his acting. Every character he plays, I love his acting. Ryuji in Persona 5, Mendo in Urusei yatsura (the remake), Okabe in Steins;Gate, Kotaro in Zombieland Saga... They're all peak comedy, when he plays a funny character, he NEVER misses, taht's really where he shines the most. - Jun Fukuyama. He has a HUGE range, the man can play the serious and badass Lelouch, then go to Kuro-Sensei's weirdness. He really does deserve all the awards he got, and then some more. - Jun Fukushima. He's freaking hilarious as Kazuma from KonoSuba, to the point where his scenes are funny just because of his acting, for real. Konosuba's great commedy writing is just a bonus at this point, so that says a lot. It should be a law to watch KonoSuba, just for Kazuma's voice. - Yuki Kaji. Do I really need to say why? His acting is on top of the world. - Daisuke Ono. He's playing Jotaro, but he's just such a good fit for Bulky badass dudes, that should be illegal. - Takehito Koyasu. He's DIO's voice (yes, that's why I put him right after Daisuke Ono), his voice and acting are so unique that it's just too easy to notice it's him whenever he's voicing a character. He's EXTREMELY active, and usually dubs a character by season at least, so he often dubs shit characters BUT his acting make them better. He's just THAT powerful. his acting is really funny, in a way, but without making his characters feel less menacing. - Ai Fairouz. I love her voice, but it's almost more of a personnality thing, she's a huge jojo fan, but also a character straight up from jojo. i mean, she literally voiced JOlyne, sure, but check her x out (and by that I mean twitter account, you sick fcks), she casually dresses up as a jojo character. Also, I followed her works since her debuts, and that's rare in my case, so she quickly grew on me as I watched her grow in the market too (and she freaking exploded, even, going from random Dumbbell nan kilo moteru to JOLYNE within a year give or take. crazy.) I watched a lot of shit anime just because she was a part of it. - Tsuda Kenjirou. His voice is so deep it's really unique. yeah, nothing more to add, sometimes you really just need a good voice. Yeah I didn't list 10, fuck the rest, these people are leagues above the rest. No, there's other good seiyuus, obviously, but that's really my top picks.
The va fukuyama jun are also play as a trans at Axion Saga DT, one of the anime with lots of famous va. This include kamiya, fukuyama, yuki kaji, tomokazu sugita there are already four people from the list at the same anime.
If you're interested in Japanese voice actors dubbing Hollywood movies, I'd like you to check them out too. The voice of Zoro is Jeremy Renner (The Bourne Legacy). The voice of Sanji is Johnny Depp (almost all of them). The voices of the Master (Demon Slayer) are Tom Cruise, Keanu Reeves, Jude Law, Martin Freeman... There are so many to choose from, it's fun.
I'm upset the list didn't mention Shimono-tan or Tsugutsugu. Both very great voice actors. Shimono Hiro with his amazing lung capacity and youthfullness (notable characters being Zenitsu, Dabi, Lyney, and Akihisa Yoshii) and Matsuoka Yoshitsugu with his variety of different voices (like the loud Inosuke, the calm emo boy Xiao, and the harem protagonist voice). Mayumi Tanaka is also worth mentioning with her role as Luffy, and lemme just say her voice acting as him is so gosh darn good. It pulls me right in. Sometimes she does a cute voice in more light hearted moments, and other times she does the most heartwrenching voice in serious moments. My personal no.1 favorite seiyuu is Daisuke Hirose. Unfortunately he doesn't have a lot of roles in anime but I am wishing upon a star that he shall become more famous one day. His voice acting is so good it's a waste that he's not in more anime.
I am calling it now !!! First is going to be Jiraya voice actor. I hear it in many Anime and its Godlike!!! Cant wait for you to react to Naruto The Last intro after you finished the series. It is so epic❤❤❤ *Edit* damn he is not even on the list 😂😂😢😢😢😢
Nobuhiko Okamoto not being on this list is a joke. Khun Aguero Agnes from Tower of God Bakugo from My Hero academia Garfiel from Re:zero Nishinoya from Haikyuu Rin Okumura from Ao no Exorcist Himmel from Frieren Teruzawa from Mob Psycho Genya from Demon Slayer Liebe from Black Clover Ghiaccio from Jojo
How the fck did the guy not mention Rintaro Okabe as one of Mamoru Miyano's highlights? That was by far his most versatile and unique performance out of the bunch, no other VA could even attempt to bring Okabe to life the way he did.
No mention of Tsuda Kenjiro (DIO, Toji, & Zeke) Rie Takahashi (Emilia & Ai (Also an amazing singer!)), and Junichi Suwabe (Sukuna & Greed) What’s up with this list?!
How could they not mention Saori Hayami's part in When supernatural battles became commonplace? It's still one of the best ever VA scenes. But I guess it's not so surprising after omitting so much more iconic shows for the others too.
I knew this guy would put aot va in the list rather than Kenjiro Tsuda , Rie Takahashi , Takehito Koyasu and many more who might be better or atleast top 10
Yeah, but the truth is most of the people on the list deserve the spot, only there are too many of the iconic va in Japan, he should just categorize based on male, female, 90s, 2000, 2010, 2020, etc
Honestly, They're all so talented that I think it's unfair to make a list of who are the best. It's more about who has done more well known characters. Personally, my most favorite is Kaji Yuki; after that I can name Akira Ishida, Hiroyuki Yoshino and Kaito Ishikawa. But as I said, I probably like them because I liked a character they voiced at one point.
Yoshitsugu Matsuoka is the best voice actor I’ve heard. To go from Kirito, to Inosuke, to Petelgeuse Romanee-Conti and not even be mentioned in this video is criminal.
Wait... What? Miyano Mamoru? He is my online Japanese private tutor! I have the contact 😭 I didn't expect my online teacher to be so popular, i'm very shocked😭
There's NO WAY they didn't include: KENJIRO TSUDA ---- (Nanami from JJK, Isshiki from Boruto, Joker from Fire Force, Logan from Ninja Kamui, etc.) REI TAKAHASHI ---- (Ai Hoshino from Oshi no Ko, Megumin from Konosuba, Emilia from ReZero, Sumi from Rent a Girlfriend, Shiina Hiyori from COTE, Takagi from Teasing Master Takagi-san, etc.) AYANA TAKETATSU ---- (Nino Nakano from Quintessential Quintuplets, Bambietta from Bleach, Kotori from Date a Live, Azusa from K-On, Karuizawa Kei from COTE, etc.)
For me, Akira Ishida is number one. His role as the protagonist in "Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju" alone places him at the top. It shows an incredible amount of range and subtlety at the same time.
Kaji Yuki is already a Hero on Super Sentai(counter part of power ranger as yellow ranger) and nakamura yuuichi is also a ranger named G stag a beast morpher Silver Ranger and Hiroshi Kamiya in Kyuranger as Ryu Commander a Violet Ranger.

Yo did you know that Yuki Kaji's Eren titan Roar is just him doing it himslef without effects or edited vocals? PURE VOCAL DAMAGE
I saw the video of his demo 😁
Yoshitsugu Matsouka bro, he is insanely good.
There are so many amazing seiyuu, but i'm glad none were featured here, so we didn't hear their names getting butchered.
Kenjiro Tsuda not being in the top 10 let alone not even a honorable mention is CRAZY
i fucking died at Light "YA-GAMI" 😂
marina inoue should be here, her performance as armin was absolutely phenomenal and her vocal range is amazing
Love hearing you talking Japanese, it sounds so cute🌸😊
How is Kenjiro Tsuda not on this list. His voice is so distinguishable that you can spot it from a mile away in any show 😂
If I had to name 10 voice actors as my favourite ones, I'd say (unordered):
- Mamoru Miyano.
No, there's other good seiyuus, obviously, but that's really my top picks.
the chat tryna spoil him for shinobu's death is hilarious
Just for people who get confused
9:16 Grell is a trans woman
Where is Rie Takahashi (she voices like 50% of female characters) and Kobayashi Yuusuke (Subaru VA)
They didn't include kenjiro tsuda in the line up or in honorable mentions. Are u fucking kidding right now ???????????
Ngl I was sad the video didn't mention that Kamiya also voiced Otonashi Yuzuru in Angel Beats.
Screen: Literally says Shino-BOO
Narrator: Shino-BO Kocho
4:07 it’s Kah-Ne-Ki. Kah (like Car but not saying the “r”) and Ne (no need to explain that) and Ki (like Ki Energy). Hope this helps.
Pretty cool list, but Takehito Koyasu (Dio, Roswaal), Kobayashi Yusuke (Subaru, Senku), Takahashi Rie (Megumin, Emilia)
Talking about Hiroshi Kamiya and not mentioning Monogatari is criminal arguably his second best performance beside Levi.
I am calling it now !!! First is going to be Jiraya voice actor. I hear it in many Anime and its Godlike!!!
Cant wait for you to react to Naruto The Last intro after you finished the series. It is so epic❤❤❤
*Edit* damn he is not even on the list 😂😂😢😢😢😢
Nobuhiko Okamoto not being on this list is a joke.
Khun Aguero Agnes from Tower of God
Bakugo from My Hero academia
Garfiel from Re:zero
Nishinoya from Haikyuu
Rin Okumura from Ao no Exorcist
Himmel from Frieren
Teruzawa from Mob Psycho
Genya from Demon Slayer
Liebe from Black Clover
Ghiaccio from Jojo
How the fck did the guy not mention Rintaro Okabe as one of Mamoru Miyano's highlights? That was by far his most versatile and unique performance out of the bunch, no other VA could even attempt to bring Okabe to life the way he did.
Can't believe they didn't include the god himself kenjiro Tsuda
Nicholas putting Todoroki in the chapter when kaji yuki appeared will never not be funny LOL
I can't believe itttttt kenjiro tsuda should be number 1 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
It is a crime that Re:Zero's Voice Actors are not on this list along with Dio and Nanami's voice actors
No mention of Tsuda Kenjiro (DIO, Toji, & Zeke) Rie Takahashi (Emilia & Ai (Also an amazing singer!)), and Junichi Suwabe (Sukuna & Greed)
What’s up with this list?!
The fact Kenjiro Tsuda isnt here is so upsetting
How could they not mention Saori Hayami's part in When supernatural battles became commonplace? It's still one of the best ever VA scenes. But I guess it's not so surprising after omitting so much more iconic shows for the others too.
Kenjiro Tsuda playin golf or what
Shiori Izawa's beautiful voice deserved to be on this list
I knew this guy would put aot va in the list rather than Kenjiro Tsuda , Rie Takahashi , Takehito Koyasu and many more who might be better or atleast top 10
Yeah, but the truth is most of the people on the list deserve the spot, only there are too many of the iconic va in Japan, he should just categorize based on male, female, 90s, 2000, 2010, 2020, etc
It says top 10 so it was obvious the list would not make sense since there are atleast 100 VA's who are amazing
takehito koyasu and kenjiro tsuda not being top 10 is just a fucking crime
I have the contact 😭 I didn't expect my online teacher to be so popular, i'm very shocked😭
ngl, it feels like for 10 - 6, they didnt really research and just chose voice actors that are from the most current popular animes.
bro what happened Kenjiro Tsuda? Nanami, Kishibe, Vinsmoke Yonji, Atomic samurai, Joker, Seto Kaiba, Bruford, and like 100 more i haven't heard of.
There's NO WAY they didn't include:
KENJIRO TSUDA ---- (Nanami from JJK, Isshiki from Boruto, Joker from Fire Force, Logan from Ninja Kamui, etc.)
REI TAKAHASHI ---- (Ai Hoshino from Oshi no Ko, Megumin from Konosuba, Emilia from ReZero, Sumi from Rent a Girlfriend, Shiina Hiyori from COTE, Takagi from Teasing Master Takagi-san, etc.)
AYANA TAKETATSU ---- (Nino Nakano from Quintessential Quintuplets, Bambietta from Bleach, Kotori from Date a Live, Azusa from K-On, Karuizawa Kei from COTE, etc.)
For me, Akira Ishida is number one. His role as the protagonist in "Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju" alone places him at the top. It shows an incredible amount of range and subtlety at the same time.
TsudaKen laughing in corner
Saori Hayami the goat.
Also this dude's Japanese pronunciation is something else LOL, NATSOOKI HANAY
I know Mamoru Miyano’s voice so well! I always instantly recognize it!
The list is incomplete without Kenjiro Tsuda aka Nanami , Kishibe Overhaul and many 😏 but overall a good list
The fact that luffys va wasn’t on here is a crime
Not including Kenjiro Tsuda on the list is a crime.
