My family is from Zamora & I just went to explore a few weeks ago! I was absolutely blown away by the beauty, culture, food, and people. I went to La Panera Rosa every day haha! & the interior of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Guadalupe was breathtaking! So glad you made this video!

I was surprised that you didnt say the name of the hotel with the Mexican pronunciation... anyways, this is good timing for this video for me. my Mexican "novia" has her summer holidays from teaching coming up at the end of July for 3 weeks. we already planned a trip to San Cristobal de las Casas in Chiapas for 2 weeks, so we have one week left over to do something else. my idea was somewhere within 2-3 hours driving of GDL. I had seen Zamora on the map but hadnt checked it out yet. I was thinking either Lagos de Moreno or Colima, although Colima will be very hot and humid at this time of year I think. so after seeing this video I think we now have a 3rd option! I loved the view of that Gothic church with the mountains in the background - just killer! and there is also a 4th option to just stay in GDL but rent a nice condo with a pool or something like that. p.s. - I was so happy when the summer rains finally arrived this week, more than a month late!

A hostel for $25 and hotel for $50, very reasonable for us Gringettes. 7:06 But an $8 + hamburger seems over priced for Mexico... Can the locals afford a hamburger ?... What's minimum wage in Mexico ? ($5 a day ?)
Oh I agree! Pricing is not in line with local wages for sure. And this is not even a popular destination. The tourist spots are out of control; too high even for foreigners. Goes back to the discussion we had when I posted the gentrification video 😕 Thank you for watching!
I grew up in Zamora, but unfortunately, all my family has moved away because of crime. In 2021 Zamora was the #1 most violent city in the world (Yea, the entire world). If you stay in touristy areas and don't walk alone at night, you will be fine and have a great time. Just don't forget where you are.

was the drive safe from Guadalajara to Zamora? planning a trip soon but see that the Michoacán state is listed as do not travel.
Our travels through Mexico have been safe so far. We do drive a local license plate vehicle though and always travel during the daytime.
