You are exactly right. With proper trimming of the lettuce, there is no need to worry the spacing between plants in my system.

I'm not sure that I understand why people are saying the plants are crowded. It's not the same as with a dirt garden, where the plants have to contend for nutrients. In hydroponics and aquaponics, the plants don't suffer depletion of nutrients by being too close together. Am I missing or overlooking some detail?

@doddiem Thanks for the suggestion, i will consider it, and will probably lower the lights. In the afternoon the plants get full sun from the window for about 4 hours.

@VIVIsectI As you can see in some of my other videos, Nick has a deep water culture system for lettuce, and has the plants much closer than mine, the plants are growing great, everything is fine. I have grown lettuce in an AeroGarden, and have had good results. My system offers double the amount of space between plants than the AeroGarden. Thanks for the input and comment. Your video on your hydroponic system looks good, and i wish the best of luck with it.

6 pots is plenty in that size tub, and the lights need to be lower :)

Growsites are probably going to be too close together for lettuce. You are going to crowd the heck out of the plants.
