  • Idler editor Tom Hodgkinson talks to BBC's Radio 3 presenter Georgia Mann on why classical music is good for the soul.
In this clip Georgia takes us through all things music and her journey as a Radio presenter and producer.
Georgia Mann presents BBC Radio 3’s mid-morning show Essential Classics, she also introduces and produces the poetry and music strand Words and Music. Georgia started out as a reporter at local radio, producing Radio 4’s Front Row before moving from production to presentation at Radio 3. Every summer Georgia presents from the BBC Proms live at the Royal Albert Hall, and she’s also a very out of practice singer.
This conversation was recorded as part of the Idler's weekly online event, A Drink with the Idler. The full recording is available to Magazine and Academy subscribers. Visit the website to join: www.idler.co.uk/

Georgia is the best ambassdor for Radio 3 ever. She is a warm, funny and talented presenter whose pasion for the music is infectious and draws you in. She also loves Greggs ice buns I believe which I doubt is a claim previous too posh presenters on Radio 3 would ever have confessed too. Keep on the good work Georgia!
