I would suggest checking out recturan's videos on paper swords. there's alot of information on his channel that could prove useful for this kind of project. I don't have a full set built yet but I've stab and slash tested the first panel and the only problem with it was that I was able to cut through the lacing and effectively tear plates off. my plates are reinforced with craft sticks for rigidity so they're only 8 layers but going by the thickness if I were to use just paper they would each be about 12 layers of 110 lb card stock
I made an armor set with paper that was layered together with Modge Podge and then added Note cards on the front for a sort of Brigandine look and then put a layer of cloth over it all... Throwing spikes, and rope dart went right through it. but it works well for slashes from swords.
I use a paper machè version of lemellar plates. Then i paint them to look like leather or metal. And then use epoxy glue to make sure they last against water.
no. it protects you by using paper to increase the area in which you are taking a blow, thus decreasing the pressure given on a point of your body, thus retaining the integrity of your skin and in turn your well being.
Check out Antony Cummins video on how to make paper armor and destroy it. It's a completely different design that protects a bit better against stabs and impact.
Nice armour, very well thought out. The paper used used in armour wasn't anything like the paper we use nowadays. It used much longer fibres and was much tougher. Obviously more layers offer better resistance to penetration as well as blunt trauma. A resin soaked in to the paper, much like with Papier mache, would increase the strength massively. A waxy or oily coating applied over the top would keep water from soaking the armour. That is almost certainly what would have been done in antiquity in one form or another. And finally, stop reading the "How to look and sound like a gangsta" manual... it doesn't suit you any more than a pink leotard with a frilly tutu would. 😉
Does a homemade paper have longer strands, making the armor tougher? As I think about it. If so, what should this paper be made of I wonder, it should be widely available but also easy to work with. Any suggestions are appreciated.
@@xxdinorabbitxxschannel5083 i thought about combining this hole and string pattern with ruclips.net/video/_7jiIQOgwtI/видео.html&ab_channel=ZNAProductions. it's weird, but I haven't found a single other resource on this armor plate pattern. how did you come across it?
stabs himself in literaly the first 55 seconds
you were supposed to glue them together with paper mash and resin it on the surface. that'll harden the armor
that something we can do ourselfes, I personally would also put tape over the thing after gluing it to protect it from sweat and other liquids
bruh my guy literally whips out a knife then begins to test it on himself
you need to hardend them with glue in between the papers
Thanks man I’m now the king of my school and lead a army of 15 men
I made paper armor that were just some thin paper books about 46 layers without glue and it stopped an 65 lbs bow at 45 meters
W o w

the arrangement of holes seems very good but you should use resin and shellac to harden the paper
0:58 scared me so bad

do you have to make it a rectangular shape or can you use other shapes ?
new era metal with jay taran and harvey you can theoretically use any shape
Noice
Haha you did such a better job than I did! I would never have had the guts to stab at my torso with a knife even if I know the armor was safe.
despite me stabbing myself, the armor failed badly at the weapons test xD
it would need a good resin to be more functional as far as reasonably forced piercing no way lol
I do the same with the shoulder pouldrons, the arm guards and the helmets.
What is the song between 4:50 to 8:30
Eugene Tey Korean folk song
Can you put stone and wood on it?
why would you want to?
It has that bill to just do that without being scared
Use a fat glue you'll get next level of protection
I make good money making costumes for people on Halloween for their party contests.
solid work working on a similar fashion using leather very helpful! :)

They need to do wax coating on that armour if they want it to be good against rain or water.
It would conceivably make the plates more fragile though
