Love all your makes from least favorite to the top, about the Vera top: its high/low hem if you look at the style lines you can see that its goes up in the front, I have made couple of them and it’s one of my favorite top patterns but I mostly make it with three quarter length sleeve option . I wish you and your family Happy New Year 🎊🎆 ❤❤❤
Oh my goodness how did I miss that, I keep pulling the front down but it’s meant to be like that 🤦🏻♀️ 🤣 Thanks for the kind words on my makes, and wishing you and yours a happy new year too!!
Oh Hayley as ever I love how you talk through why something works for you and where it didn’t work if you found a modification. I’m with you in having plans… having moved a 4 year quilt project (Solana) so far forward in September and the beginning of October that “all I have to do” is quilt the layers (what I call wrestling while sewing) and bind it I’ve made a plan to work on moving 3 projects through to finish… firstly I’m going t finish the one I paused in October (so I could make gifts for my daughter and grandson who both say they loved their new quilts). In February and March I’m going to try to finish another 4 year project (Monkey Wrench) where I’ve made 30 large quilt blocks so I can make 2 quilts (a grid of 3x4 will make a 4.5 x 6 foot quilt and have 6 blocks… or I could make one large quilt (3x4) and 2 smaller quilts (3x3). Then I’ll give myself 4 months to finish making a 7 year project (Snail Keeper’s Garden) where I have 4 out of 35 blocks made but all the pieces cut out the finished quilt will be 5x7 feet. Of course I will start new projects and be working on other current projects along the way. It still leaves me with 7 or 8 other WIPs. Here’s hoping 2025 is a wonderful sewing year and we have more successes than failures.
Oh my goodness I so admire you quilters, I thought 1 layer of faux fur plus tweed was “wrestling” fabric but that’s nothing! Good luck on getting those projects finished, but we know new ones will get started too, it’s the fun of it! All the best for a wonderful 2025, with, as you say, more successes than failures 😊
Hi Hayley that was lovely, I have enjoyed watching your triumphs and not so happy results ( you are always so witty about them), we all know we don't end up loving everthing we make but it always teaches us something☺. I have a list on my sewing table ready to do a year sewing look back video, but it so long I am a little daunted by starting to film. Happy sewing in the new year. Peace to you and your family. x
Thanks Diane, yes it is a bit daunting isn’t it, I was going to go through every single item but having them all clean and out of the wash was too much, so I settled for my top and bottom 5 🤣 Honestly just start filming and you’ll be fine, I love all your videos and you are so creative. I still need to make some storage baskets from you tutorial x
Thanks so much, I really enjoy analysing what works for me and what doesn't and applying it to my next projects ☺️ I'm excited to get started on 2025 plans and sewing!
Thank you, I do think I should fold it. I always worry about making “permanent” creases since I’ve had that happen with fabric cuts… but ruining the dress by hanging it is no better 🫤 Happy sewing to you too 😊
I'm also realising that I'm a different size front to back. I don't hear people grading pants patterns back to front but I've been experimenting and I've had some success making my recommended size in the back but sizing down in the front. I guess I'm the opposite of you. Interesting! Lovely video, thanks!
Yes, I've never really heard of people doing it either, but if it works that's all that matters to me! I'm often two sizes different between waist and hips, so I don't see why we can't be different sizes "around" as well as "top to bottom" if you know what I mean!
Loved your stats!! Going to do mine now 😂😂. Very honest review and encouraging for others to keep trying and keep learning. You make me smile when discussing your “fails” 😊. Happy New Year sewing. Lynne
I love keeping track of everything, and I'm glad I do because I was surprised to read the figures back. Thank you for the kind comment, I honestly would never had had a single successful pair of trousers if I hadn't had loads of "fails" along the way, because stuff just doesn't fit me "out of the envelope" so trial and error is the only way (and I find it fun and interesting too, as well as sometimes frustrating)
I see what you mean about the fit of the trousers but I have to say that I love the colour! It’s a kind of mustard-bogey-green which I think would be a vibe in the summer!
I enjoy your videos. I like when I can refer to the patterns being discussed - when the pattern links are listed that makes it easy and I listen while I look. No links this time. I guess it must be time consuming to include that? Anyway, Merry Christmas and happy new year!
Yes sorry, that’s totally it, to list every single link takes ages, and honestly, I can see who clicks on what in the back end and not that many people actually click anything on my videos 🙈 Happy Christmas and a lovely new year to you too!
The trousers are lovely - what was the pattern name again? I tried to search for it as, even though I listened to what you said several times, I couldn't quite get the name. New sewist here and I am not up on all the patterns available yet. I enjoyed the video, it is interesting to see what you have made and what you did or didn't like about them.😀
Oh sorry, it is the SwimStyle Karla Loungewear Pants! I didn’t list every pattern in the links because usually no-one watches my videos 🤣 but this one is proving quite popular 🎉 Welcome and I’m glad you enjoyed the video 😊
@alwaysinthecraftroom Thank you so much, I thought you said Carla wirh a "C", LOL, no wonder google was no help. I watch all your videos, I like your vibe! 😁
@alwaysinthecraftroom happy to have made a helpful suggestion 😁 and thanks for reading the humour in my comment (as that's what was intended). ❤ Also, thanks to watching your video this AM , I have altered 3 clothing items (1 handmade and 2 RTW) that have been hanging in my sewing room and causing me to lose energy. Thank you for the inspiration!
Wow that’s amazing, well done. Having stuff hanging around is draining isn’t it… and yet it always takes me ages to get around to fixing things! Feels so great when it’s done though, well done you 🎉

I'm actually obsessed with the color of those first trousers! Haha.
So far I think every single commenter who has mentioned them loves the colour 🤣

Congratulations on all of the great garments and the lessons you learned along the way. Looking forward to following your journey next year! 🧵🪡

Love the vlog, All of you garments look great. I have made jersey dresses and yes I find it better to fold them. Happy sewing xx

Lol, mustard bogey green is the perfect description! I am laughing so hard at how many commenters seem to love that colour!

I love the first trousers. 😂 Can I buy them?
Lol, my "ugly" trousers are proving very popular in the comments 😂

Ha ha, I can see why that search didn’t work! Thank you so much, that’s really nice to hear 😊
Could you take the shoulder seam apart and insert an inch (+ seam allowance 😂 ) to your daisy shirt?
🤣 plus seam allowance 🤣
That’s actually quite a good idea! I have loads of navy jersey
@alwaysinthecraftroom happy to have made a helpful suggestion 😁 and thanks for reading the humour in my comment (as that's what was intended). ❤

have you tried to over dye the yellow pants?
I have not! I wonder if whatever I tried it would just go a muddy brown though 🤔
@ I think you should try to dye them just look up what colors go with that color yellow and you should be good 😊
Googling over-dyeing!
