    Corvette nose? I am thinking more of a Z car nose. 240Z came out in 69?

    Yeah this is the same car from My Classic Car. I live 10 minutes from Belfast, Tn. (where the owner of this car lives) Truly a piece of NASCAR history. The same owner also has a Spoiler II and a Thunderbolt!

    In my opinion, the nose looks like a modified Datsun 240 - 280 Z car. Unique and rare for certain. Shucks, I've never heard of this car let alone seen one. Thanks for sharing.

    @RamblinAround That's right...Ford also made a Talladega model...they have a sloped nose also..but a lot less drastic than this...he has one of those up there...and I guess that Mercury made one to...because he has one of those to up there...lot of cool things to bring you from up there...this is just the tip of the ice burg...thanks for cking it out Brother!!

    In 68, the Torino Talledega was dominant in Nascar and that's why they had to come up with the Daytona and the Superbird to compete. Then I guess Ford needed to up their game again in 1970. It would have been interesting to see this more fully developed. The speeds were getting pretty ridiculous at the time though. Great find Scottie, that is an awesome machine!

    The front end looks a lot like my 280 z. I had a 70 Toronto coupe with a 351 Cleveland. Cannery yellow black buckets top loader four speed with a Hurst shifter all stock. It had a big cursive Ford script right above the rear tires. It had been a special order car with disc brakes and rear window defogger. I found one ad about the car and it said that it was an oval track car as it had a 300 rear gear. Damn thing ran real good and it seemed impossible to float that engine. It would do 60 in first, 85 or 90 in second and the Speedo said 120 but in third it would go right past that and keep climbing. By then I was ready to let off as I am a big ol chicken past that. No telling how fast the damn thing would have gone if I had used fourth gear. I wasn't even able to top it out in 3rd. Good solid awesome car. That's been 34 years ago. My oilfield job dried up at the time and I sold it to a buddy so I could keep my harley. Still got the same harley out in the shed!

    I have only read of the three that exist, so people's information may be different. This yellow car was on an episode of My Classic Car. The orange on was the only with the 429 Boss and I am not sure of the last one. I had read that it was blue and the engine was a 429 CJ. The yellow had the 429 SCJ.

    Saw a red K.C. in a video on RUclips just last night...anyone who says that the K.C. looks like a GTO and a Vette needs to put down the pipe...I happen to love both the GTO AND the Torino, but they can NEVER be confused one for the other...not Vette crazy cuz when I had a couple of them, my 6'4" self stuck out over the damn windshield...although they were both fast, just weren't comfortable...a wookiees 2 cents given....

  • @Mylesruether
    @Mylesruether 11 лет назад

    that is true, that is why the 70, 71 Torino models have the rear window louvres. the 1969 torino talladega model was faster on the superspeedway because these would loose traction coming out of the turns. the king cobra however, was faster on the short, twisty tracks. P.S. the daytona and the superbirds had the huge spoiler only so they could open the trunk!

    I WATCHED THE GUY THAT BUILT THESE CARS ON A PROGRAM AND HE SAID WHEN HE CALLED NASCAR TO COME INSPECT IT , THEY SAID YOU MUST MAKE 3000 CARS , AND THAT WAS THE END. ALSO, CLEARLY YOU CAN SEE THE 494 CU. IN. ON THE PLACARD. I BELIEVE IT WAS AN ALL ALUMINUM ENGINE AS WELL.

    I remember reading articles in the past that Ford's NASCAR divers didn't like the 70-71 Torino body for tha fact that the concave rear glass on the regular GT body acted as a wing that would lift the rearend at speeds nearing 200.

      +Jersey Danny - trying to build plugs to mold the fenders & hood, so I can build a 'clone' of this King Cobra. Already built a motor (540inch) using a Ford Racing block & the Kaase "Boss 429" heads. Hit 655 hp on the dyno with a single 4barrel & hi-test pump gas (38" 2-step headers) Motor is currently in a '71 Torino, waiting for the 'clone' to get built.

      chuck clontz Bud Moore did indeed have one of these in his shop, in the late 70's. I don't know what color it was because Bud wouldn't take the car cover off and let me look at it. I was thinking it had a rear wing like the Chryslers but it's been a long time and my memory might be faulty. I had always heard that there were two of these and Bud had one and the other was in the Ford museum. That was over 30 years ago, though.

      They put that front end on the Talladega and it was much more stable but that was after they wrecked 3 1970 King Cobra's . That back window had the wrong slope to hold the rear end down on the 1970 Torino or Cyclone .
