    I have the blue dial, I bought it for 540 dollars. I love this watch, looks stunning and feels nice even ran 10km with it and it felt good

    I just ordered one of these as a “travel watch.” Agree with your assessment - the value is there on whole. There are other watches with better clasps/bands; some with arguably better components/movement, but the aesthetics sold me: blend of sport & style.

    The half-life of Tritium is 12,3 years. It's electron (or Beta)-emission (what causes the luminous material the glass vial is coated with to glow) after 12,3 years is 50% of when 'new'. But: after 24,6years it is not 0% but 25%, after 36,9 years it's 12,5%, and so on. So it should still emit light after 37 years, but 12% of the original luminosity is just not really noticeable. Realistically 20 years is a reasonable stretch.

      Hey Bob, not sure I 100 percent followed that but appreciate you adding all that!

    Oh wow. I was just about to buy this online too. I found it for £469 but now that still sounds too much for what it is.
    I have a Seiko Presage SARX071 in this similar 'Hulk' green which was what drew me to this Luminox.
    Now I think I'll go and have a look at those Ball watches instead.
    Thanks for your review, I happened to come across it because of Google's search results!

    I ordered this watch and was excited to receive it but was turned off my the movement as those are my selling points for watches. Thank you for pointing out the quality of movement of this as it could of for sure be equipped with something better or more appealing to me. At glance it’s decent but after examining it’s a pass

    Good watch, the bracelet needs more taper, and the clasp needs some pushers (hate friction) but not bad overall! And agreed about the solar and radio control, it should ideally have it at this price.

    I basically agree with everything. It’s just to expensive for what you are getting. Seems like it cost twice what it should.
    For $700, so many better optimal out there, not to mention much more interesting lower priced watches.

    I love Luminox, have a 3583 chronograph that I wear almost daily, but I would pass on this. Luminox's reputation took a huge hit with the class action suit for selling watches with fogging under the crystal,I just don't trust Luminox enough to spend that kind of money on one of their pieces. If I really want a dive watch in a few years I'll spend a few bucks more and get the Marathon GSAR

    • @CasualWatchReviews
      @CasualWatchReviews  Год назад +1

      The quartz GSAR at the right price is such a good watch! I have owned both the quartz and mechanical versions

      @@CasualWatchReviews I'll have to hold off, I have been dying for a pilot watch for some time and I fell in love with the Marathon Steel Navigator when it was unveiled 8 months ago. Just dropped $700 on it last week (plus another $60 on a Marathon black leather band) and this is going to have to do for a while. It is a stunner.

  • @unacarafea567
    @unacarafea567 2 года назад +1

    Spot on review. I've owned this watch and I don't think this watch is worth the $700. At $300 it would be a good deal but the movement, the bracelet and the T-25 tubes instead of T-100, do not make it a watch in the $700 price range. The size is actually larger if you take into account the bulges on the case and the bracelet is not very comfortable.

    The problem with these tritium watches is that, they are disposable by design.
    Sure, you can continue wearing them after the tritiums go out, but that defeats the purpose of getting a tritium watch in the first place.
    I think the companies that make these should allow service them (perhaps for a small fee), so that you get to replace the tritiums.
    Otherwise, going for basic models like the Leatherback seems more sensible.

    • @CasualWatchReviews
      @CasualWatchReviews  Год назад

      Marathon watches actually will service a tritium tube dial to your point!

  • @MichaelAguila

    Watch geek. 😂 A few weeks ago, I wouldn't have given much thought to the movement, and I would have been taken more by the overall looks and feel of the watch. The way the cheap movement issue keeps popping up, I have to say I would be really pissed if I was about to pay for a Dodge Hellcat, and I was told it was only available with a four-cylinder engine. Definitely a movement dealbreaker at 700 bucks.

  • @stuofthepots
    @stuofthepots 3 года назад +1

    Totally agree re the movement quality and lack of solar and connected features. I would love a Luminox but can't help but feel they are significantly overpriced.

    • @bigboiganiga8356

      I still fail to see the charm of 'Swiss Quartz'. The main sole producer of it is Ronda company something, and none of Ronda quartz movement has that shock resistance of a G-shock or Solar charging. Ronda quartz is the same with cheap Miyota Japanese Chinese movement specs.

    I've owned 4 Luminox watches and must say the tube life is exaggerated. Out of the 4, all died within 10 years. This is a hard sell since that is the best part of their watches. I will no longer drop that type of money into Luminox.

    • @CasualWatchReviews
      @CasualWatchReviews  Год назад +1

      Thats great information, if I review a luminox again I will mention thatX to be fair they have never offered to send one again after this review.

    • @underwaterlevelz1947
      @underwaterlevelz1947 Год назад

      If you look around online you can find a company in Hong Kong that will put in higher quality tritium AND change out the color of the tube if you wish. I am strongly considering changing the tubes in my 3583 chronograph to red and blue. Not sure what they charge.
