Born and raised in Midland, TX...I need to correct where you said it was Midland College (11:19), that is our sports complex where the Midland Rockhounds play baseball and our high schools play football. Midland College is on the other side of town, not even close to any of the places you drove by.
I grew up there. You missed much of it! You mostly drove around the edge of the town on the outside of the loop. A lot of the town and where mostly everything is is within the loop.
Elvis played in the Odessa and Midland area three times in 1956. While playing one of the concerts at Midland High School with Johnny Cash, a young Roy Orbison was introduced to Elvis. Just a fun fact. Great video by the way.
Craziest set up in their streets and freeways I have ever seen and constant road construction but many streets are full of deep pot holes. I hate it. Plus the insane weather.
He missed so much of the town! He didn't even go inside of the loop. He should have turned onto Andrew's Hwy instead going straight in Wall. Or when he got to the loop before the pump jacks, he should have turned right onto the loop instead of going under it.

Man, things were built to last in the 50's and 60's! Look at Midland High School (4:40).....all that solid brick work! Just beautiful!

I moved out there for work (oil of course) did not like it. 4 months later i drove my happy ass back home...the mountains were calling i guess.
