Wow!! Look at the crowd along the rail, and they were that dense all the way up the apron, and through every floor of the grandstand in these day!! Thank you for posting this, and especially for the winners circle festivities too.....much nicer than just the race and the screen goes blank. See this horse was by Life Sign......daddy won the first Woodrow Wilson I think.
Was at this race, at this time there was no better driver then Campbell,Tons of people where at the track..Real desire very nice horse, but Bettors delight, a once in a generation Sire, similar to Adios, Meadow Skipper, Cam Fella, No Nukes, etc ..
Hot steamy Summers Trackside park concerts Fireworks groom sleeping on park benchs because dorms to hot in the summer money was so good and the memories that wont vanish and never will be the same
@FinsFurNRacing I think it's what really hurt Mike later on in his racing career. He was ALWAYS gifted w/ trotters. His trotter resume speaks for itself. He was never nearly as proficient with pacers. U see how he lays into BD here and if u watch the 2000 BC Open Pace u can see how much he laid into Western Ideal. Just watching him makes it obvious he's an outright slasher on the pace and the young guys who are aggressive w/ tactics (not whip) AND have good hands have passed him.
He's not kidding. For the most part, it's a visual for the fans. A lot of horses will stop trying when you hit them...it's the noise hitting the shaft or the saddle pad......of course, some will raise welts on the horses, but that is very rare now. Usually, a horse getting beat by a driver is a horse he lost money on he is just pissed and beating the hell out of the horse, who will get more back at the barn. Sad shit, but I saw it.
