This is why Steve is Steve. No one play a quarter note like him. His musicality is unprecedented. Even though other drummer have insane chops, Dr Gadd plays to make you move and have a visceral moving experience. Thank you Steve for setting the platform and springboard for us all. Great solo!!
I love Chic Corea and I know the piano is a percussion instrument, but beating the harp with mallets is a bit ridiculous. I also understand style, but whenever I listen to Chic, it seems he picking up where he left off 30 years ago in Romantic Warrior
@Mex Seiko This video is from 97. Not really all that far removed from Romantic Warrior era Chick. Could be why Chick still sounds a bit like that here.
if i n EVER meet Corea I'm going to swap out those mallet sticks of his with s nice quiet pair of brushes when he ain't lookinng! (c'mon man .... somebody has to do it! >>> am i right??)

MAGIC IN THE AIR,A MOMENT OF FRIENDSHIP WITH THE MUSIC,A PIECE OF HUMAN ART
Quartet No. 2, part 2, dedicated to John Coltrane. The first Jazz song I ever heard and that has led me down a wonderful path. I love it!
I love how he is giving that hi-hat a serious workout!!!!!
Even when he drops his stick the fire and the fury never stops...
Gadd and gravity they are interconnected 3:08 he just knows where to grab . A master!!!!
One of the GREATS
In Europe, when you play jazz, you are treated like a rock star. Here in the USA..., "what's that noise?"
And THAT'S a sad testimony!!!!!!
flawless
just saved to my "SICK" folder on youtube
GIANTS!!!!!!
Super Gadd
Cool.!!
1:59 was Gadd telling Chick to stop banging away on the piano and leave the stage.
I hated that stupid side of Chick!
Worse audience participation...goofy Chick. A musical genius and a stupid scientologist atheist.
what basic paradidle l-r is steve playing in the first part?
I like the comment below. Gaddis full of the Holy Spirit .
