T-1 leans toward improvisational techno and unexpected results, probably twisting knobs and not caring about the big picture of seeing on silicon buttons all tracks at once and what they are doing,, hands on manipulation but not going really deep into control. The Oxi One is far deeper and could be the hub of a studio containing MIDI gear and Eurorack, more emphasis on control and visualizing the entire pattern, less on turning a bunch of knobs to see what happens.
@@Digiphex thanks for a great overview. How do you rate the randomise and auto generation functions of each, as you say the T1 is a good improvisational tool, can the Oxi One do this as well?
@@waddy707 Yes the Oxi can do pretty much everything the T-1 does but is a little more menu intensive for some of it. The Oxi does not have preset algorithms in it other than the Mutable Grids section of the Oxi One which is a preset drum algorithm and is not random. But the T-1 has some preset algorithms that can be varied with random. If you check the T-1 manual you will see how there are 8 algorithms for certain things. I would say if you are an improv performer then the T-1 or if you like to have it all set up and just do a small bit of improv and want a complete solution bringing together your MIDI instruments and Eurorack then the Oxi. Or do like most people and get both!
Yes you may. There is nothing synced, I am using Ableton as a sound module only. I like to have a track per drum sound so I can tune the drums chromatically using T-1.

I like to rotate gear and there is a lot of duplication with the Oxi One but I like the immediacy of the encoders. I'll keep it around awhile :)
