On the play where Rice was open, the snap was on the ground so I think Mahomes didn't have the opportunity to see the play as well as he normallly would. If he got the snap normally, I think he would definitely have seen Rice for the TD.

On virtually every second-half and overtime stop of SF, he was in Purdy's face forcing early or bad throws. I think it will be the next step in his evolution as the best qb ever when he gives equal merit to every option on the field and takes the best shot given regardless of who it is. Like when Hill left and he no longer had to force it to Tyreek.

CHASE! (and Trey) . . . love the analysis from at least one SB ring owner and a sports . . . person. Both you guys forget more about football in a day than I will EVER know in my lifetime, no doubt, so this is a gigantic knowledge slurpee to this old man! This Chiefs team reminds me of patchwork quilt of sorts . . . guys like Gray, Watson, Rice and even Pacheco out there executing play after play, ready for the rock at any time. The real genius, though, is Andy Reid. (Sure wish he would slim down a bit, he is such a treasure, although that begs the question of relevance!) Coach Spags dialed up the appropriate game plan and the guys in the defensive quilt (sans Thuney) went out and battled a formidable and worthy opponent in the 49'ers. No wonder they were at the top! Hardman's execution of the winning play shows how subtle, tiny, almost imperceptible moves or movement can influence a defender, stress that defender and put that defender in a no win situation. Freaking genius! I always did like Corndogs ( as well as Tom and Jerry), come to think of it . . . TALLY HO! On to number three!!

@TGfoever He is deserving of being an NFL starter, but couldn't win the big one just like his coach. His numbers are not much different than Jimmy G. The problem is, there is a certain type of people who try to make Purdy, some type of exceptional qb, which he is not, he is a good qb, with potential. Just because he is not a dog and he is a feel good story for those looking for one, don't mean we should be fitting him for a gold jacket. And that's where the problem lies. Its not hate, it's just viewing reality thru the lense of reality. I think the Trump effect has penetrated every aspect of American life. Where down is up, wrong is right, and you are not to believe what you see with your own eyes. If SF had a Patrick M. they would have won the last 3 to 4 superbowls, Period. But they do not, they have Brock Purdy. Who played well enough to get to the top in the NFC, but he would probably not be a starter in the AFC, that is the difference.

Mahomes had time to throw on that all out blitz, credit O line. Moody was a wasted 3rd round pick from Michigan, Colin is a Michigan slappie, and he missed an extra point that was needed to win and also cost 49ers 2 reg season games will be gone for next year. KC kicker was a much better kicker. They got outcoached, even with it looking like Steve Spagnuolo was reading Kyle's mind most of the time, if DeMeco Ryans was calling D they win. As a Chiefs Fan I’m not sure Patrick will eclipse Brady
Brady’s 7 rings and 10 Super Bowl appearances is a ridiculous record

Mahomes having a lot of interceptions called back or dropped... This is actually a pro Mahomes stat.
When it comes to dropped interceptions all things being equal between QB and players in pass defense, that would seem to have to do with ball placement first... Mahomes isn't throwing gimme interceptions... and velocity second. It might also be affected by the Mahomes' intended receiver moving into pass coverage and being effective in that role. The Chiefs make a practice of emphasizing player intelligence when it comes to scouting. That leads to players with a generally above average situational awareness.
When it comes to interceptions called back by penalty; again, this could be Mahomes getting free plays and then choosing to gamble on a big completion vs. getting a five yard bump for the defense jumping offside. This fits with Mahomes' demonstrated mental abilities. He "sees" the game, understands each moment and is able to find and manipulate these kinds of meta opportunities with astounding success. Seems like "luck" only because Mahomes is operating at Andy Reid's general level of football knowledge but also with Favre-like physical abilities... I suspect that the vast majority of people simply don't have the understanding of the game to even appreciate what Mahomes and company are doing. We just see the Chief's results as outliers without being able to process how it is happening.

C'mon, man. Time wasn't running out at the end of SB IVIII. There was a whole 'nother quarter of play for KC to continue that last drive. Yes, it was the last play of the 1st quarter of overtime. If KC kicks the FG, there, the game continues as long as it takes, in sudden death.

Im so sick of the Purdy narrative. Anybody says he isn't good just annoying. At the same time, please dont put him as equal to Mahomes. Purdy is good but he is no Mahomes

Listen to Mahomes miked up… he was surprised saying “they took the ball” over and over. The Chiefs all had gone over the OT rules for two weeks. They knew the best choice was to defer so they would have four downs instead of three.

I am curious why Aaron Rodgers is "the most annoying player"? You could have just said it was a tough situation due to an injury. Hmmm...

You're blowing Mahomes up too much Andy Reid what is the play collar on the final drive the 49er defense was very static and unimaginative

But Andy R. can't get a touchdown, unless a cheeseburger is attached to the football Trick, LOL. Patrick don't need to be blown up, he won that game period. Seems this same hoosiers don't have a problem with Brady being blown up.

It’s the other team, they’re wired, heck Patrick can get you with the hard count, or a pass interference call, and all he as to do is be on the field, other teams are always going to try to get the edge, because they want to beat him. They all want to say they intercepted Patrick Mahomes, and football is a game of feet and hands, and the players use them, that’s not Patrick’s fault.
