Me before video: Normal person.
Me after video: Hi, I'm a silicone spatula expert. Nice to meet you.
I put the Di Oro spatulas on my wedding registry when I got married 2 years ago, they are hands down the best spatulas I've used and can't recommend them enough. It's nice not having to worry about crud getting stuck inbetween the handle and the head, the weight is just perfect, and they just do an outstanding job.
Adam does a great job in these videos, love this series as usual!
I can never find a good quality hand towel or kitchen towel, you should do a review of the best of the best.
They did.
Love these equipment testing videos, thanks
I really like the seamless one-piece spatulas. Will never buy a two-piece again. Always end up with disgusting food crud that just can’t be cleaned. Those just get thrown out. The one-piece models fix all that.

😂😂 Perfect!
They not only get food stuck around the edges, they get liquid in there when you wash them. Also, they fall apart easier. I agree, the one piece is a must!
Love your show guys!!!
I have 2 favs... a Pyrex spatula similar to the winner and (I know this sounds crazy) an orange and lime color one from IKEA. It's super light weight and gets the job done.
I bought these based on the earlier review: my wooden spoons were due for replacement and I was looking at alternatives.
Overall I'm please with them, BUT the stainless steel spine inside has a drawback. When cooking dishes which need frequent stirring, I would leave a wooden spoon in the pot. Doing so with these silicon spatulas almost burnt my hand.
The metal spine still manages to heat up, and then holds its heat.
The best spatula I've ever used is my isi basics, which somehow never gets included in your tests. The unique shape, the stiffness, the handle, are all better than the conventionally shaped spatulas, and they're about ten dollars, also. Check them out, you will be glad you did!
I have 5 Regular size Di Oro spatulas and 1 Large. love them
I purchased two of the Di Oro spatulas (reg size and small) about 5 years ago. Love them, use them all the time.
Just lost the larger one in a move😭
Came back here to get the name so I can reorder. Glad to see they are still being made. 🙂
Thank you for all of your great research and tips on equipment !!!
I always check with you guys before buying anything.
I have a nice spatula which I use regularly and do need another one to use when two is better than one at a time.
Thank you good to know 🤗👀
DI ORO Seamless Series Pro Grade Silicone Spoon Spatula is the only spatula that works. Best thing I bought, Been using it for several years now.
I had purchased my oxo spatula based on a previous video you posted. Best. Spatula. Ever. It looks exactly like the black one you recommend in the video so maybe they rebranded? Either way, thank you for posting these videos!
wow as i was going through the equipment review play list
Nice content.
1:20 It depends on the diameter of the vessel you're using the spatula in. An angled blade is more comfortable when you have room to angle it (working in a large bowl, sauté pan, etc.), because you don't have to hold it perfectly vertical, thus you don't have to raise your arm quite as high. A flat blade is better when the space is tight - small saucepans, jars, etc. I wouldn't use the same size spatula in both situations anyway. Get a small, narrow spatula with a flat blade and a larger, wider spatula with an angled blade specifically for cooking.
The first time he picked up that black on for comparison I thought it would be the winner; the second time, it was obvious. My own favorite spatula is a Pyrex Professional from about 15 years ago; there are bites out of the edges from a guest tangling with a blender (I think), but I love it and despair of what happens when it is eventually unusable. It is the only spatula I've found with a great balance between flexibility and rigidity, and it has a super thin edge that is a DREAM to scrape batter out of bowls with. Now, it is flawed in that it is like spatula on the end in the video (see 1:47, a beat early so you can hear Adam's high pitched squeaky setup): it has a core with the ridges so dough doesn't scrape off of it so quickly, but I don't mind because that amazing edge scrapes my bowls clean the first time. Every other spatula I've bought has fallen short in that regard. I now have a utensil jar of spatulas I almost never use.
Can anyone tell me if that Rubbermaid scraper is as good as they say? I need a backup for Old Faithful, which was discontinued years ago before I realized I should pick up extras.
Seamless is great for clean up.
Can you guys review wooden utensils? Maybe a set? It's like looking for a needle in a haystack finding a good set.
I bought that Dioro spatula based on the ATC review. I don’t really like it, because the blade is too firm and it doesn’t scrape as well as other silicone spatulas.
Thanks, I just ordered a set!
Do you have any non-stick pan recommendations too? Preferably oven-proof.
All of your videos on them are super old.
For non-stick and truly oven-safe your best bet is carbon steel or cast iron.
What is the price for the set
Is there a video on best electric stoves -60/90 inches?
When will we get more full episodes.
I miss them so...
It does seem like quite a while since we've seen a new one, doesn't it? I don't have television now, so I don't know when the new seasons begin or end any more.
@@bentleyr00d I've seen all the ones that they have on YT. And then they started breaking down the segments into like 8-10 minutes ones. Bring back full episodes please!!!
I wonder how many others buy their silicone spatulas at the dollar store.
I do. Ive get several now.
Dollar Store? You must be kidding...go to Spatula City.. ruclips.net/video/2XbCWmY0eqY/видео.html
@@Nobody4rpresident
But the whole spatula district gets so busy this time of year.
i get mine on amazon
@@Nobody4rpresident Buy nine spatulas, get the tenth for just one penny!
The winning spatula I got off amazon 3 years ago it didn't have the branding I chose after watchingva similar video on Americas test kitchen. BTW the honorable mention & last times winner wasn't in that video.
What is your recommendation for a ridiculously small spatula?
Typical RUclips comments about ATK videos...
Poor people: “That’s _way_ too expensive! ATK must be getting paid by All-Clad!”
Rich people: “Did they even read the poor product reviews on Amazon? ATK is obviously sponsored by OXO!”
Millennials: “What a waste of time and money. I can do everything that thing can do in my [microwave, toaster oven, Instant Pot].”
Idiots: “I really hate [least favorite host]! Bring back [most favorite host]! Julia’s popped collar drives me crazy!”
LOL
A+
You say millennials but millenials are a very wide range of people.. I'm one of the older millennials, I'm 33. I'm not like that!!😂 Just saying 🤪
Apparently di oro has made a 14" large head spatula
Expensive stuff. I bought mine on AliExpress and it's actually good quality.
I buy the 3rd one from the left on Aliexpress for less than a dollar delivered
What about plastic spatulas that you use to flip food, like pancakes, in a pan?
Been using this one ever since Lisa recommended it, and I have to say it's an absolute joy to use. What they don't mention in this video is that it's fairly resistant to melting, so it's my go-to tool for sauteeing. Used cheap spatulas in the past and had them pretty much instantly melt in the pan, which is appalling. Speaking of Lisa's video, it's a lot more detailed, so I recommend checking it out for more reasons to buy this thing. I know I sound like an ad, but it's really that good of a spatula.
Check out Dan's too.
Yeeeeeeeeaaah!!
I notice that all the winners of these various products raise their prices from even a couple of months ago when this video was done.
I like the cheap ones from IKEA. You size and feel is great for all-purpose use. They might not be the best, but 3 for the price of their winner.
The ikea ones bend out of shape and the heat from the hob melts the metal interior quite easily. You would easily go through 6 ikea spatulas before the Dioro one ever wears out. I cant believe Im having an argument about spatulas. LOL
@@rosscoghlan what's worse is you're replying to a comment from a video from over 2 years ago...
@@Nick.Knows.Nothing lol. I wanted to buy some new spatulas and this video popped up. RUclips takes you down rabbit holes.
@@Nick.Knows.Nothing So what? Don't like your opinion challenged?
Can you explain why when I cook bacon and use a silicone spatula I get a lot of foaming in the grease ?
This has not happened to anyone else ?
I've heard oil foams up from either something of a different (lower) temperature being put into it, water being put I to it, or the oil itself being impure, like when it's used for a second frying. I've seen the foaming happen with tongs and things too. I assumed it was because the utensil was cold or it had some residue on it which made the oil foam. Not sure though
OXO didn’t win? Wow I’m shocked! Lol
They probably didn't pay enough this time🤭
Come on guys, get your ovens synchronised!
Reupload?
Yes.
🛑 What other spatulas did you test, and where did they fall in the ranking? I was looking at ThermoWorks, did you test this?
In order:

Thank you!
I guess OXO doesn't have a silicone scraper? :)
They do, and it was one of the models tested. It fell in the middle of the rankings, with a "Recommended With Reservations" rating.
N=1, but I much preferred the long-form version of this ATK posted three years ago. The detailed explanation of the testing methodology was a lot more interesting than banter which feels very forced
The winner looks identical to ALDI products, which never fail to scrape every surface clean in my use
ALDI is a grocery store?
This isn't a new video, is it? I could have sworn I've seen them recommend this spatula before...
Who else wonders what the blue spatulas in the foreground are even doing there?
I bought the winner. I like it, but the metal "bone" inside the silicon is a little too flimsy when trying to stir or scrape something thick, like cookie dough. I'm not sad I have it, but I have a $5 one that I got at my hardware store that I like even better.
Well, what a shame. It doesn't appear that Rubbermaid manufactures the 13-1/2" high heat scraper anymore.
Not a new winner as you all recommended the same one in 2017. That's why I already have one!
I purchased the di oro spatula a year or two ago on your recommendation. I do not like it very much. It rarely comes out of the drawer. Too stiff. Other spatulas do a better job.
Which brands do you like better?
Aw man, I'm sorry to hear that. I personally love the Di Oro to bits, but I probably lean towards a heavier hand so I need something to withstand that pressure.
@@lareinadiondra6027 The one I use most of the time is a Betty Crocker spatula from Dollar Tree. I like it because it does a great job of getting all the little bits out of tight spots. However, it's not great for things like bread dough. For that I use a sturdy spatula that has the name "chef'n" on it.
@Rose Ramble - You should swap yours with Kirk Gednalsky down below. He says his DiOro bends too easily. LOL
I want whatever Sponge Bob Would use😂
I just use my hand.
I prefer Le Creuset set with the detachable heads and wooden handles.
Lisa already did this. And she did it better! Please bring her back.
They haven't locked Lisa away in a cage, and they aren't refusing to "bring her back". She has a new gig with Hannah. The videos are entitled Gear Heads. These reviews we're watching are from the TV show. Oh, I should explain..."America's Test Kitchen" is a TV show that's been on PBS for about twenty years. Those equipment clips with Lisa were done for the internet, not the tv show. Adam has always done equipment reviews on the show. Lisa only occasionally did her Gadget Guru stuff on the tv show. Again, now she's doing Gear Heads with Hannah.
Great, that does not make them the better reviewers. Lisa was wayyyy more professional and yes i noticed the gear heads episodes.
@@timothyl3763
I believe the point was that Lisa can't really be brought back because this was never really her thing to begin with. Adam and Lisa work together in the same department of the same company. There nothing wrong with Adam's reviews. Who is "better" is just a matter of opinion. I like Adam's better. Apparently you like Lisa's better. Either way, Adam, Lisa and Dan all recommended the same spatula.
@@timothyl3763
LOL @ "wayyyy more professional"😂
This isn't new. I believe this was made in 2017. Lisa's review is probably from about the same timeframe. Adam always did the reviews on the air but I think they started letting Lisa make similar reviews for the internet when they were just starting to establish an internet presence but hadn't started airing the actual episodes on the net yet. That's why there are double reviews of the same product sometimes. An easy way to tell? If you see Adam it came from the pbs television program. If you see Lisa it came from the internet.
Every one of these new, fake-commeraderie ATC videos makes me miss good ol' Lisa McManus and her to-the-point/no-BS reviews all the more.
Yesssss!
i thought the last winner was the di oro?
Yep same one.
You're right ruclips.net/video/k_dddKEiPHE/видео.html
As a person who used lots and lots of spatula there recommendation was so BS. The DI ORO - Large Silicone Spatula is so uncomfortable to use because it lacks the support at the handle so the spatula gets so wobbly and would never recommend it to anyone. my suggestion would be Vollrath 10", 13" High Heat Silicone Spatula. Do not let them fool you that's not a good spatula.
It is $12.97 now.
My spatula came from the Dollar Tree and it was made by Betty Crocker! Works great every time. Soft for folding and stirring. My other one is more firm for cooking and stirring. $11 bucks is just ridiculous!
sylvia seri a lot of these that they reviewed are high temperature-rated around 400 or 500 degrees. Dollar store spatulas are not.
The le Creuset one is best! The other ones melt and aren't built to last!
the other spatulas had no chance...

Hmmmmmmmm, I wonder which spatula will win 🤔
My only comment here is why are you limiting yourself to just one spatula? The handel design maybe. But the blade? Truly not being realistic. Some times you need a small blade to get Into small spaces like jars to get out everything. But other times you want a really large blade to make quick work of a large bowl. Considering most of us have a variety of pots and pans and knives and, well we could go with this growing list. The thing here is these wonderful kitchen tools don't cost much. If taken care of will last many years so why not own a variety of them. Adam I have always enjoyed your segment. This one not so much.
Good point!
Right, they clearly have more than one in that kitchen. IDK maybe they though they should base the test on "if you could only buy ONE spatula..." type thinking?
@@lareinadiondra6027,I'm glad I'm not alone on this. ATK has done a lot of shows, odds eventually catch up you and drop a big goose egg. Hey, most of the things that they show are great. I'm still a big fan. But I'm scratching my head on this one.
@Victor Benner - Pro tip: Buy the 3-piece set on the link. That’s what I did over a year ago, and I use every piece several times a week. Very happy with the purchase.
@@samuelwilliams8560 ,I'll check it out. I do already have several spatulas. I use my large and small all the time. Some of the others are more specialized but when I need them, they are a pleasure to have and use. Hell I have e at least 2 types when I go camping. Thanks for your reply. Keep cooking.
....You can buy a tool like that for $ 1.50...
You didn’t even show the flexibility of most of the spatulas. This was worthless.
Right?! I can't believe I just read so many comments before someone finally said it..
I call BS on these Di Oros. They have a soft end of the handle where the loop is, making them useless for scraping. They look nice, but don't work.
I'll stick with my GIR
Why isn't this a Lisa segment?
Lisa doesn't do these one the TV. That's what this clip is from.
Not agreed. Bought it according to your recommendation. Too stiff to scrape around the sides of mason jar which I use daily to make milk kefir. Softer ones offer flexibility are better for scraping the sides of bowls or jars!
I bought mine based on intended use. They recommended flat spot for scraping; well I prefer my non flat for a kitchen aid mixing bowl. They make some good points, but almost never recommend what is best for the consumer and sometimes ignore manufacturer's instructions which skews their review.
I don't get why this spatula continues to be recommended. That metal core is SO bendable. I can bend that spatula into a 90 degree angle in no time with not very stiff material. So much so that the three I have are almost unusable for more than just soft materials. The GIR spatula they tested but didn't reference is tough as nails. I can fold cookie dough no problem. The DiOro would be V-shaped in no time. I've been a subscriber for years and this is one of the only product reviews that I feel you get completely wrong.
@Kirk Gednalske - If you’re bending the DiOro spatula, you’re doing it wrong. You might find a garden trowel more suited to your needs.
Am I really the only one who hates using silicone spatulas because my brain screams cancer..
@WatjeBent - Yes, you are the only one.
I miss Lisa..
I think she has a new gig with the other blond tester. The videos are on the channel list.
First world problems...
Eh, not really a problem. Just a review.
