I have something very similar. For the money it works quite well ($25 a few years ago). Mine came with different colour diffusers, yellow, blue and opaque. Have fun with it!!
Thank you so much for taking one for the team as it were. I have considered buying one of these for quite a long time but your review has saved me the trouble. With macro photography you are ideally looking for detail and texture but at ISO 1000 this is difficult. But then maybe the unit could be used to fire a slave flash with an optical sensor? Just a thought
Ben I do mainly Macro photography and I used the flash you are testing and found the flash to be too slow and very frustrating . I now use a Nissin ring flash which costs over $700. The only camera setting i use (Nikon D850) IS 22-250 the flash has lots of different setting you can use.
Hi Ben. I've been watching your channel, on the other site of the world, for years now. Thnx for all the effort you put into the vlogs. About the Meike: it is not a flash! It's a led ringlight! Although they say it's a flash, it's not! For me it's way out of the question for bumping up the iso in macro. As you'v shown in the vlog, the bouncing ringlight is ugly in the frame. So..... i think, although it's cheep, there is a better way to spend 39 dollars. A cheep speedlight for instance. Stil... allways enjoy your video's. Get out there......

I would just spend the money on a better setup
@@On3legs good point. Most of my macro work is indoors and if this unit was inadequate outdoors then it would fail miserably in my living room.

yep... not good unless you are happy with high ISO settings.
