    Very interesting and I don't blame you for not giving out the coordinates. Many old landmarks have been destroyed by vandals. Why make it easy for them.

    • @SUVRVing

      Exactly. Although I think it's of biggest concern when the landmarks are roadside instead of an hour up the side of a mountain. Thanks Bacchus.

    I only just saw this video 3/14/24 but what really struck me was that evidence of the wagon tracks was still visible, on the ground, over 150 years later and how truly fragile that landscape is and how long man's impact on the environment can last.

    Sometimes the simplest vistas are the most powerful for individuals. An overgrown spring becomes magical in the moment. Btw I like hiking in the wind. I find it cleansing but I can see why it gets old after a while. Can’t wait for summer!

    We appreciate your “no coordinates” policy. If it’s too easy it can become a destination for too many people and along with too many people seems to come trash and wear and tear. Honest folks are willing to work for their pleasures. And most folks tend to appreciate things they had to work for. And most people take good care of things they appreciate. At least that’s been our experience. Happy trails to you......

      I am a bit of the Oregon Trail ruts buff as my family took the cut off to Washington state in 1900...long after the railroad was in use. They did the wagon trip for the adventure and to save money probably. My great-uncle chronicled for us. He was 8 years old on the trail, and so the story was written from his 8 year old point of view with great enthusiasm and endless adventures.

I'm in TX visiting my daughter right now and for another two weeks, so far two weeks into my trip but had no set plan where I was headed after this and I think you have pointed me in a general direction. Plans as of now is phoenix to grand canyon, north from there to eventually find these sights then into Colorado and back to TX to help her move then along the gulf to the Keys. Ending in a sad trip back to NJ. Of course plenty of stops along the way.

    Thanks for another great adventure travel video. You mentioned a lot of historic events that I know about and it was cool to see these spots. In regards to your GPS locations, I wouldn't give them out either. Since I fish a lot, I don't burn my spots. Once again, I really enjoyed the video.

    I agree with other comments, people destroying landmarks and pieces of history, shooting petroglyphs?? Why make it easy on them. I had same thought as you Tristan, before you even felt the need to say it, that anyone who watches your videos should have plenty of info needed to find these places, way more then you did before you set out to find them, so don't give out coordinates, your videos are enough, don't second guess yourself, don't be railroaded into changing your mind either. We benefit from all you put into these videos as it is, and enjoy getting to see things some of us may never get the chance to see due to life circumstances, so thank you. Peace!

    Thanks for sharing the history of these places. Agree no need to share GPS location, there is way too much of that out there now. Like you said from the video should be able to find. Those wide open spaces are cool!! :) Great video

    Beautiful country! Thanks for sharing all the info, GPS and links. Also, do you keep track of your cell phone signal coverage to any degree as you travel around? That's good info for your e.g. online paid POI database thing if you get that going. The coverage maps from the cellular providers are way too generous especially in some of the remote western US areas.

    • @SUVRVing
      @SUVRVing  6 лет назад

      I keep track of that at my campsites only, and that will be included in the master map. I agree, the coverage maps the providers have are basically worthless. In my experience with Verizon, AT&T, and T-mobile, Verizon has by far the best coverage. AT&T is pretty good. T-mobile is worthless outside of large cities.

    To me, having the coordinates gives people like me, that will never have the opportunity to see in person these locations, the ability to add another a layer of our journey's with you, through google earth. I don't think those who follow you are even remotely looking for coordinates to go vandalize something historic. It's great that you can travel and search these places of wonder, but everyone is not afforded that opportunity. Keep doing what you're doing, great videos. My 2 cents worth.

    • @SUVRVing
      @SUVRVing  6 лет назад

      In general, I agree. That's why I almost always give the locations of the places I visit. The people who watch these videos are not the people who vandalize things. But if someone isn't willing to put in a bit of work to figure out where those Hawaiian petroglyphs are, they sure aren't going to hike halfway up a mountain to find them. If someone really wants the location of one of these places, they can email me.

    the re-naming of history across this country is to make it hard when reading studying history ,to find these places and in part it is a disconnecting us from the past,also not rely learned in school is Hawaiians were the first true cowboy's , i love this stuff and your knowledge also you visit places i have only read about,but would have never known if you did not say what the history was,Thank you for your hard work making these Video's

    That's interesting fact about Hawaiians I graduated high school in Hawaii which of course meant I had to take Hawaiian history. I don't recall that fact, but it's interesting none the less.

    Hi I'm new to your channel and I'm thinking on traveling to Utah this summer with my boys in our rv ,but I dont like camping rv parks,or crowded campgrounds are there some quiet,safe road to drive that's safe to camp also because we have two dogs that you can suggest were coming from Oregon🤗

    • @SUVRVing
      @SUVRVing  4 года назад

      Sorry, I don't have specific recommendations. But there's a ton of BLM and national forest land in Utah. You can camp anywhere there with your dogs.

    • @SUVRVing

      The main app I use is called Gaia GPS. It's an incredible app for downloading offline maps and marking the places I want to visit.

      I have state atlases for the states I'll be passing through, and I use the apps Google Maps, HERE, and Gaia GPS for navigation on my phone.

    the history of turtles and native Americans was like a international sign where things were and NOT to bring the white man because he would want to take it..if front left foot missing that is where not the direction to take them..(turtle you showed was missing tail !) as the saying goes is a whole turtle head four legs tail the treasure is below it..

    Nope, I don't think it's a bad thing for you to NOT give away the exact locations. If they are regular tourist traps, then why not, but for these out of the way spots, like you said, let folks find it themselves. They may even find other great things!!

      Living/exploring/photographing Southern Utah, for the past 6 years, vandalism has increased dramatically. No sense marking it any easier for the ignorant narcissists.

      I'm very afraid of the vandalizing of nature and culture in Europe, Asia and Africa too. I must unfortunately accept that some people are really bored about the beautiness what god made for us.

    What blew me away was that the guy who published the guide for the Hastings Cutoff and encouraged the Donner Party to take it, had never done it before. So he had no idea what he was getting people into. That whole episode was a total mess.

    • @donnysiii5111
      @donnysiii5111 6 лет назад

      Oh, one more thing. I like to policy of not giving out the coordinates. I like putting your video on pause, then trying to locate where you are on Google Maps given the clues you provide in the video, where it be verbal or visual. This makes for a fun little game for me. It also gives me a bigger overarching sense of where you are geographically in the country and state by being able to zoom out and look around... that is in relation to other cool places nearby.

    • @SUVRVing
      @SUVRVing  6 лет назад +1

      Definitely could be. I think that's a good guess. And regarding your other comment, I do the same thing when I watch other people's videos. I'm very geographically minded and like to know exactly where other people are in relation to other places that I may be more familiar with. Thanks TheRealDonald!

    So desolate. Windy desolation. Only rattlesnakes and voles for company. Not even any birds. What in the world were those Hawaiians trying to farm in Skull Valley? Time to go Googling. I really appreciate your remote choices. Something that mystifies me however . . . you never mention the person who follows you around with a camera. How they carry a camera and hold it steady while following you in often challenging places is a really remarkable skill you bring to your videos. They even know where you're going sometimes and are ready for you to arrive. I'm surprised you don't give them even a mention!
