winning multiple series in AUS and PAK and being runner up in 2003 WC in SA is 20 times better than winning 2011 WC in the backyard. teams of AUS and PAK were so touch back then.
India did not win any series in Australia when Ganguly was a player or captain.India defeated Pakistan in Pakistan in 2004 and 2006 when Pakistan team was not great.Akram,Younis,speed Anwar etc had already retired.
India retained the series in Aus, that time it was not imaginable. And wins in Pak soil never happened before as well - whoever retired, etc. So it is more about changing the history and the possibility - and Ganguly did it.

LOL India did not win any series in Australia under Ganguly. 😂 India won under Dhoni & Dhoni also became the No 1 batsman in ODI rankings, something which Ganguly could never become. And India also became the No.1 team in Test & ODI rankings under Dhoni something which Ganguly could never do

thank you vikrant ji...a true reporter ...hats off...the amount of pressure which was given on sourav ganguly as a batsman and as a captain by indian selectors all the time.. if it was given on others like sachin or dhoni... or it was not given on sourav he wud of end up as greatest batsman and greatest captain for india as per records ahead of sachin and dhoni. butapart from statistics...impact wise he really is. all true cricket fan knows this.

When I watched the 2004 Bangalore test against Australia. The body language of the captain was lacklustre. He didn’t show any intent to win nor bat. Ganguly struggled with the bat and you automatically lose respect among teammates.

Even after his retirement, Sourav Ganguly has proved his ability in IPL. I think Dada could play another 2-3 years for India. Dada was a victim of bad politics of BCCI. But as a fan of Dada I'm happy that he got his retirement farewell on the ground. So many big players like Dravid, laxman, Shewag, Zaheer, Yuvraj, Agarkar didn't get their farewell on the ground.. Very sad.
