Peter Gabriel - I Have The Touch (1981 / 82 sessions multicam)

- Hi to all! This is a video I've made today of I Have the Touch by the one and only Peter Gabriel. All the footage is taken from the 50-minute documentary shown on The South Bank Show back in '83 which chronicled the process of Peter Gabriel and Co. writing, demoing, recording and performing the fourth album. Centered mainly on I Have The Touch, San Jacinto and Rhythm of the Heat, there is a lot of footage of I Have the Touch. The other songs aren't really "video songs" and therefore I chose this. Enjoy! Peace, love and music! No copyright infringement whatsoever. All original content belongs to Peter Gabriel and Real World Records. This is an alternative perspective and I will remove this video if I am requested to do so by the aforementioned.
Unpopular opinion- Peter Gabriel is the best singer ever
Popular with me...
Peter Gabriel was and remains a genius song writer.
I'm actually glad he left Genesis. So much great music might have been missed.
Well like the girl said in the fault in our stars.everything's better with a peter grabriel song
David...You Are Correct!

Thanks opposites!
With so many of his songs, a minute or so in you think it can't get any better, then he somehow takes it to another level.
It looks you straight in the eye and says HEY! D.I.Y.
Peter Gabriel simply wrote some of the most catchy, eclectic ground breaking music ever. He was weird, but in a good way. Outlandish, but never pretentious. Stylish, but down to earth. The guy was just very talented.
He was and also he is and will be ;-)
Aaron Beauchamp the man js a Artist! such texture and range.
#PETERFUCKINGGABRIEL
Well said.
He has the Touch
This is why I'm more than happy to forgive his diminished output in later years of his career. His catalogue is effing amazing. I won't complain. I'll go see him again if he tours near me.
This could be my favorite song on the album, I don't know, it's such a fucking incredible album.
fav video more like it
My favorite solo record of his. It's out there, and it's genius.
its class and he should still play it live
i love his voice
His voice loves you as well miss.
It is sure a unique sound
My favorite. I don't know what it is about it either. He's not a technically great singer.
@@janus2059 I have to disagree. He conveys a lot of emotion with his voice. It is kind of raspy. I think it's cool.
I put him in a separate group with Chris de Burgh and Steve Winwood. Fantastic Voices.
To this day, this song has remarkable sounds. So creepy and haunting.Love it.Some of this great artists best by far in my opinion.
demonweber666 Peter NO AUDIOTUNE NEEDED Gabriel
Larry fast on keyboards - a shame that they parted...
I love the unflagged irony, he wants contact but sings with his hands in his pockets.
Or when he performs We Do What We're Told, telling the audience the back story and then tells them to sing along and shouts at them "Louder! Sing it like you mean it!" and they do what they're told...
Not in concert though. He took it took the extreme in the presentation of Lay Your Hands On Me on his 1983 Tour, with what I believe are the first instances of crowd surfing.
No irony here, just video production in studio. Yeah - that's all going on in this video...
Indeed, he reveals much.
@@LB-zp7eg Absolutely correct and I was at one of those concerts when they had general admission and was on the floor and got to pass him around as he sang Lay Your Hands On Me with the wireless microphone around his head and to his mouth, what a great memory.😎
Hidden Gem in deed , guy was and still is a genius
Kind of funny that this is a rare song about the high social needs of rock stars and Peter sings it like a nerd with his hands in his pockets. It's awesome.
This guy-whole catalog of what he's given the world music wise -Genius. Much Love to you Sir. TY
It appears that this song is the theme song for the coronavirus lockdown.
I'm rotting inside for some human contact
That was exactly my motivation in searching for this tune.
One of my absolute favorite Peter Gabriel tunes and it's fun to see his early studio setup.
Still listening in 2018 ....they dont music like this anymore 😁
for
sure
dont need to.
2019, still this way🤔
2020
This is my favorite video on youtube, and has been for years. What a song. Perfection.
An amazing array of complex and superbly balanced sounds in typical Gabriel and associates style.
Peter Gabriel’s a Legend ✌🏾🇬🇧🏴🎹🎶🎵🥁🎹🎸
Quite simply a musical genius
Never liked Peter Gabriel with Genesis but never missed a concert when he came around N.Y. and saw him about 50 times and what a great solo performer..
Wow this is cool, like the different sounds
A good song that never hit the radiowaves here in the states. Pity, that.
The entire "Security" album was phenomenal. This video looks like the beginning was a film of the session that actually went on the album.
I love this song!!
My favorite as well 👍
I love you Peter
Great song by a great artist. Loved that Peter championed world music very early on. I often wander if artists watch their RUclips vids and read the comments.
jchopra I wonder the same thing. I guess maybe if they have time or just wondering what people have to comment about them
Such an incredible artist. The lyrics here are beyond
Great song. And Larry Fast (Synergy) performed a lot of the amazing synthy stuff.
Great job on a song that's very underrated!
Who could give this video a thumbs down?? 7 people?? Great great song and great video.
They were searching for Peter Bagriel's "I am the douche."
Always exemplary to hear Peter's creations and when this first came out I was amazed by the sonic texures Peter had created with the Linn Drum as well as Fairlight and live percussionists, this sog in particular. Thanks Peter,Tony,Jerry,David and David Lord as well for being the creative tech conduit to get this album in the shape it is.
Yeah, and hi collab with Laurie Anderson and the technologies they used and listed on their albums. I used to blat this in the garage so many times, those pounding drums at the end, and 12 inch singles back then that were different mixes.
Love the futuristic track suits! Pete and crew went for a nice run after the show!
The tracksuits caught my eye too🤩
The best version. Childhood memories.
Le changement de rythme de la batterie....juste génial !
Once again, brilliant, tac tac tac brilliant.
Tony Levin without his mustache...haven't seen that before.
You should see him WITH hair...
It took me awhile to figure out who he was!
wow, one of the best gabriel videos i've ever seen!
Ese sonido de la bateria es totalmente atemporal, que genio el que creo esos sonidos y el tema en una obra maestra.
Great video for a great song! I wish there was more video footage from Peter’s young days. Good work, thanks for sharing!
Love this man's music 🎶
Peter gabriel eres el mejor... y tienes el toque te amo...me alegras cada vez que te escucho ... nadie mejor que tu...
great editing ! at firstI was sure this is some kind of official release. will search for the full movie. I also love the Rockpalast show from 1978 footage, wish I was born time to watch this live when it happened.
Un documento maravilloso! Hasta hoy, no lo había visto y eso que soy un seguidor de este grandioso cantante, compositor y creador desde hace más de 30 años. Gracias por compartirlo!
important words in our days
It is a fabulous 'Billiards Song'... A great politician's song... A great 'Holy Roller's Song'. great song, Peter! Shake those hands!
One of my favorite albums from the very first listen! I like to think this song is from the point of view of an alien 👽 in the context of Close Encounter. and the "lay your hands on me" is from a human.
Levels just like everythubg else... any transformation... lite up.
I pressed 999th like! Ha! Love you Peter
gated reverb makes everything better
Superb music
This is music slipping through a wormhole from a future we'll never know otherwise.
Magnifique !
Cool montage, thank you for the work! Also, this is one of my favourite songs of Peter.
Classic ❤ ❤ ❤ In my heart it's a Classic. "80's chick"
j 'adore
Absolutely amazing 💗
Questa l'avevo propio dimenticata ...non passa mai di moda.... Grazie... Ancora 😁
Thank you from Brazil!
Muy bueno Peter Gabriel. Como siempre.
I love this song❤️
Thanks for posting this, wonderful work and how young they all looked ! I was younger too...
Fantastic. I will watch again and again. Thank you for sharing. (That sounds like George W. Bush: Short, declarative sentences.)
Sounds like my old tdk60 cassette! Fucking amazing version. Should be remastered
Te amo gabriel...
Giving voice and hope to dweebs since 1969.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this!!! Great video. Super cool!
This is incredible. Bravo!
thumbed up it--upticked it before even playing it. i already know its going to be good. thanks
Fantastic !
Love this
his best period by far
I love this!
GABE is on a level all by himself.
Friggin' genius to the core.
Used to blast this pretty loud back then, those drums drums drums!
I didn’t know this song existed until Phenomenon with John Travolta movie. Peter is so awesome!
Brilliant job!!!
One word
BRILLIANT
This is awesome! Great cut!
Could this classic Peter Gabriel hit from 1982, become the anthem for recovery from the pandemic in 2021?
Great work!!! Thanks for posting it!!
Brilliant job! Thanks
I love him
music ahead for his time , fucking awesome
1:58 Is that Tony LEVIN without moustache??
Sure is.
Yeah, but where IS the mustache?
Gabriel te amo....
Great 🎉
i love it
Damn good job! I did the same thing with "The Rhythm Of The Heat"! Real nice work!
I had a mix of that that extended the whole thing for like 8 minutes... must of drove my neighbor crazy... never noticed until I walked around by their side of the duplex and thought, wow I bet that's loud through their wall!
Compliments to video maker, phenomenal job!!
LOve love love LOVE love love lOOOVE.
Very well done!
Been a LONG time since I heard this. If you type "I Have The Touch" nowadays, you just get the 1996 Heather Nova cover from The Craft. And before 2014, I think that would have been the only version available here, I suspect.
Awesome to hear the original after so long. Thank you.
PG. The Sacred and Profane. Love the man.
enigmatic
Larry Fast- PG's secret weapon.
its a shame that Peter fired him...he was so creative...SO. was too much pop...
Listen to his Synergy albums from 70s and 80s.
Love it
This s brilliant. 🤩
Peter Gabriel músicas sensacionais 👏👏👏👏
Seems timely in these times somehow...
Like this version much better than the futuristic mode he went into with this song later in his career.
