Yeah.. naming it Dawn of the dead may have actually hurt it because everyone went in comparing it directly. The only similarity was the mall.. characters/storyline were completely different.
@@tri0xinthere was also the cameo appearance by one of the original main characters (Ken foree) who played the part in the scene of a televangelist on t.v., preaching the bible verse "when there's no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth"
I saw this movie when it first was released in theaters. I think it was around March 22nd, 20004. I was so excited to see it. And was excited to get the DVD when it came out. I have both the unrated DVD release and the regular DVD version, which has the BTS on location bonus feature, Surviving The Dead.
Saw this movie twice in theaters . Was still in highschool. I was obsessed with the original dawn of the dead so you can imagine how I excited as a teen I was to see this. Thank you for sharing this with me . These movies will always hold a place in my heart.
Absolutely brilliant Sean. One of my favorite horror films and favorite remakes of all time. Cannot believe we are coming up on 20 years since it’s release. This was absolutely fantastic.
Thank you for noticing. Yes I put a lot of time into each video that is why it takes a while in between each one. I have about 15 HHG episodes shot just need to edit them.
I remember in 2004 seeing this. I had gone to GameStop to get a game I had pre-ordered and it came with a free ticket. I said Oh cool when does this come out and the guy said it starts in 10 minutes. We were starting to get a bad snow and I was about 40 minutes from home already so I said you know what I'll race across town and get there and watch the movie then hopefully make it home safely. Free screening before it came out in Pittsburgh at a movie theater that's now a car dealership. It was me in about three other people in the theater and I sat near an old lady that was probably 80. Absolutely loved this movie. And I made it home safe.
This is the one I've been waiting for. Saw this movie at the Theaters here in Sydney back in 2004. My favorite Zombie movie ever. Great job Sean and Scott.
Great job. I remember seeing this in 2004 when i was 14 in my local mall. It Last showing and I left the mall empty and parking lot was empty and it felt like the movie. I still have my movie stub from that day/ night.
I had a Toyota Corolla like the one Anna drove only in black. I was such a huge fan of this movie that a few months after seeing the film I had the face from the original Dawn cut out of white vinyl made for the hood. Tragically my grandmother passed away after getting in a wreck in it. At the time I was working at an auto consignment auction so everyone would ask about the car both before and after the accident. Most of my friends when we would watch the film would always ask me if I wanted to watch something else because of the car wreck. See my car ironically wrecked in the same fashion as in the film right into a tree. Anyhow keep up the great work on the videos Sean & Scott.
Thank you...Sean Adam and Scott I'm a true horror buff and u guys have kept me entertained by doing all these location visits and total enjoyment hope I get to do one of these location reviews one day stay blessed fellas
Glad you did this one, went up to the mall in 2004 before they tore most of it down. They bought it to film in then sold it back for demolition. About 100 miles from me.
Yeah not hard-laborious-physical-work, but it’s still a grind. Think about the process of it all and it’s not a walk in the park Larry. Especially when it’s a side gig and trying to get all your other priority shit done. I’ve been working on the locations for Big Wednesday for a year and half. Took 3 months to research and find em, another couple to schedule time to drive and fly to shoot em, and now it’s an overload of info to try and storyboard and edit and post. Try this shit at the level Sean is and be humbled.
Yes The two is back Sean an Scott i been looking forward to the episode from you . my favorite part is the mall .. One of my top favorite movies all time especially near Halloween 🎃🎃 hilarious Scotts the husband zombie 😂Did a great job . with the details .i love how you an Scott recreate the movie locations
This was the first Zombie movie I ever watched that had running zombies, I don't know why but that creeped me out more than Romero jumpscare shufflers.
I loved this movie so much. It and the Texas Chainsaw remake were both awesome and were the ones that really started the remake craze. I only wish the majority if other remakes had continued to be the same quality.
I loved this movie and I love your work it was awesome running into you at the Phoenix Fan Fest this year glad to see you keep going on here such an inspiration
Great video Sean. My parents live about 5 minutes from where the mall used to be. Always got a kick out of the fact this great film was filmed where I grew up. Romero hated this film because of the fast zombies but I have to say he was way off base as this is an amazing zombie film! No disrespect to Romero but this is indeed one of the best horror remakes of all-time! Also, damn, I can’t believe it’s 20 years old now…crazy man!
God this was great. I have done this type of stuff with old photos, etc.., People think I am nuts when I do this. Good to see others do this. Thanks again, great.
Was serving in the Marine Corps at the Time of this release, Living in Temecula CA, seeing this remake was Fun memories, Being from Pittsburgh PA ,I had high expectations for this remake.
Oh my god, it turns out that Andy’s gun shop really exists. I thought it was a movie scene. Thank you for shooting the scene in Dawn of the Dead. It allowed me to see a lot of scene details in the movie.😊
No Worries.. Been watching since your Return of the Dead locations video.. You have a love for a lot of the same movies I do.. Great Stuff @@malfuncsean
Always thought you got the name Horror’s Hallowed Grounds from this film. I remember when you first posted at OHMB about HHG was around the time of the first mentions of the Horror Channel possibility. Great to know you nab it ahead of Zack Snyder as I’ve always been a bigger fan of your stuff. Thanks for always entertaining us Sean! Great work! Would love to see a deleted scene of you and Scott having to crawl under the gate 😂
All I know is that I'm from Milwaukee and this movie pretends to be set there and yet at no point even slightly resembles my hometown. They bring up some locations on the radio in the cold open but that's f'n it. They even have the A plot being 'find a boat and go to the island'. The island... in Lake Michigan? Like Mackinac island? lol. But when they actually get there it's like a tropical jungle island. Love the remake, it's one of the best film debuts I can think of and that cold open is absolutely immaculate. But the setting is almost aggressively not what it says it is lol.
DOTD 2004 was one of the best theater experiences I ever had.
Why you get a handjob or something cuz the movie fucking sucked.
Why you get a handjob or something cuz the movie fucking sucked.
Sometimes a remake becomes a great movie in itself. This is 100% one of those times❤
This holds true to the 90 remake of the NOTLD as well!
true on both
Yeah.. naming it Dawn of the dead may have actually hurt it because everyone went in comparing it directly. The only similarity was the mall.. characters/storyline were completely different.
Agreed 🤝 I feel like D.O.D. set the standard for what a good zombie movie should live up to being ....there was few that did .
@@tri0xinthere was also the cameo appearance by one of the original main characters (Ken foree) who played the part in the scene of a televangelist on t.v., preaching the bible verse "when there's no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth"
Good job buddy. I remember rushing to the theaters when this came out. It was a fun remake! Cool you found the dock spot!
My favorite Zombie movie of all time. This was awesome, Sean! 🧟♂🧟♀👍👍

Loved this episode. Sean and Scott are fun doing these episodes together.
Probably the only team up I can tolerate haha
Thank you guys for your Work ❤
Its crazy to see a location age by 20 years instantly. Changes a lot more than you think it would
This was the first time that I have seen one of these. I loved it. I remember this movie. I will watch it again now.
As a massive fan of this movie, it was awesome seeing the film locations. Thank you so much.
Absolutely brilliant Sean. One of my favorite horror films and favorite remakes of all time. Cannot believe we are coming up on 20 years since it’s release. This was absolutely fantastic.
I Couldn't agree more
Always a pleasure Sean. These have to take a lot of time to create and edit. It does not go unappreciated.

Can't believe they got rid of the electrical box. That was the highlight of the movie for me. R.I.P. electrical box. You shall be remembered.
😂😂😂
They got relocated on the other side bro 😂😂

You’re welcome and thank you for watching !
There needs to be a real coffee shop called Hallowed Grounds . I’d go there

Wow.. cool to see! So crazy how time passes... it's almost been as long since dawn 2004 than it was from 2004 to the original.. or somewhat close.

Some great detective work in this video chaps! :)
One of the few remakes I enjoy. I hope youre doing well Shawn especially since that wreck.
Some people say that every artist has at least one work of genius within them....if that's true, then THIS is Snyder's
Agree, this is most definitely Snyder’s best work!
You two should do more collaborations very good job excellent chemistry.
This is fantastic! Love it
Dawn of the Dead (2004) is my all-time favorite zombie movie. Thanks for this episode, Sean & Scott.

This is the HD remake of Scott's video
I prefer to call it a remake/homage
😂😂
I cant wait to see this! Thank you!🏃🧟♀🧟♂🧟
Very cool vid!
OMFG the cut at 5:22 when the ambulance hits the guy in the film is brilliant!
That was my favorite edit too.
Loved this film, easy to rewatch
