Sorry to be pedantic, but The Ikon leans heavily on Heart of the Sunrise (check out the start and end) - then takes it in all sorts of wild and wondrous directions. Todd once told me he listened to Roundabout over and over again when Fragile was released but, plainly, Heart of the Sunrise was the bigger influence.
@@Eldudereno1 HONESTLY, can't we just enjoy a couple of prog rock legends for what they are? They were both before I was born, and both WONDERFUL and distinct in their own ways.
Jack, this is a gem, indeed! I have 2 bootleg copies of this tour from 1974 obtained from a gentleman in Cleveland and the quality is nowhere near this. I saw the show twice myself that year. This sounds like a direct from the house board deal. Do you know if the rest of the concert is available anywhere? I would love to hear it. This is where I was introduced to Todd and his music and of course it changed my life forever. Thanks for posting!
I am a young man listening to this for the very first time as a live feature. I am mindblown already one minute in; and that's considering I've been getting a dose of early er Todd stuff for the past 10 months. Do you have a cool collection of stuff???
I saw them perform this live in Cincinatti. Still incredible. A peak life moment.
A young Rundgren and crew, absolutely shredding their way through this. Can't imagine being there for this!
I could Jeff! I'm Kelly! 🤙
and just like that, We Gotta Get You a Woman appears and warms my heart.
Really awesome version. I hadn't noticed the "I gotta get you a woman" reference in there, pretty cool to hear
Love the tempo!
a great band . . . . Yes did Close to the Edge . . . . . . . Todd shot back at them with The Ikon . . . . .both are long songs

Did you draw this Jack? It's amazing! I just finished a painting of this same album cover!
I'd love to see that painting
