ALF follows the adventures of Gordon Shumway, a furry, wise-cracking alien from the planet Melmac who crash lands into the garage of the Tanner family. The Tanners offer him a home and give him the nickname ALF, short for “Alien Life Form.” Created by Tom Patchett (The Carol Burnett Show) and Paul Fusco (who also performed as ALF), the half-hour sitcom rose to popularity in the late 1980s, cementing itself in the pop culture zeitgeist.

This is such an underrated show. People underestimate Alf's realistic performance considering the technology that existed back then. The whole team and Paul Fusco made a masterpiece.
Especially considering that ALF took three puppeteers to operate: Paul Fusco performing his head, right hand and providing his voice, Lisa Buckley performing his left hand, and Bob Fappiano controlling his eyes and other facial features.
Of course it’s “realistic” Alf is an alien who just got into acting for a living.
I think what's wrong today isnt the fact they referred to someone as a dro. The problem with the world today is that people are bubbled wrapped and "EVERYTHING" offends them, even the word dork! Seriousaly look back into your past, and tell me you have NEVER called someone a name. Wether it be out of hurt, pain, anger. Though we may not be proud of it we have all done it. Compared to the shows on television these days which are all about s*x, violence and crime I think the use of the word victim is mild. Television in the mid 80's and early 90's always tought a value or a moral of sorts. I'd let my kids watch 80's & 90's reruns over t.v shows that are on these days! So ya given the alternative of dork I'd be ok if he called him a dork 24/7.

Realistic... if you want gorgeous performances, try Dinosaurs instead. Only six years later but mind blowing puppeteering, even today.

I used to watch this as a child on TV in Kenya 🇰🇪 around 1993, when this episode used to air on TV in our country.

I had a major crush on the actress who played Lynn when ALF was on TV. Even with a big spiral perm in her hair from the 1980’s Lynn was just a stunningly beautiful girl with a great personality! I actually think that the permed hair really suited her, even though I wasn’t normally the biggest fan of the big permed hair look from back then. What a gorgeous looking girl permed hair and all!
Yeah me too I was in High School at the this time. She reminded me of a girl I liked in school back then with the same hair style. Fun memories back then 🤔

I have the complete collection of Alf on DVD l swear I watched this episode last night before I went to bed, watched this show every Monday night when I was growing up this episode deals with drive in movies and dating a pleasant theme

My daughter & I used to watch Alf and never missed it and then all of a sudden it left the air and we never heard anything of what happened or when it will return and we were furious, and we have gone all these YEARS without it and I didn't even think that it might be on YT until now and I looked for it and found it and not only it but I also discovered that there were many more made than I knew of, and WHY????????? We missed ALL THOSE YEARS. I'm very glad to find it, but all those years we could have watched it together, but not any more, she lives 50 miles away and we're sad that we missed it while we were younger and together. But I am glad to be able to watch it again and see the newer ones too, I'm sad to find out that Willy and some others are dead now, but I am thankful it is on YT.

I still have a Poster somewhere of ALF in his blue Hawaii shirt, unfortunately not in top condition, original of that time from a tv magazine or music magazine not sure. Happy memories when life was less of a strain and not the smart stuff all around us instead real people where you talked to. Happy 80's with the best music ever. I pity the youth with their zombie life.

Excuse me, can someone explain the Lloyd name joke that Alf made? I don't understand English very well as I'm just learning it. In my native language, the joke sounds a little different, so I was wondering what was said in the original
In english we pronounce "Lloyd", as "Loyd". We ignore the second "l". The joke is that it is weird to pronounce it "l-l-oyd". It's usually seen as pretentious and clearly mispronounciation.

considering that lynn is a absolute goddess anyone who dumps her is crazy, and she is friends with a hairy freak, so she`s bound to like strange men, so that means i personally might have a out side chance of going out with her, and although her hair is a bit 1980`s for me, and i preferred her hair in the first season, i think that i may well be falling in love her, and imagine it`s high school and you ask out the drop dead gorgeous lynn tanner out and she says yes, and with her probably being one of the most prettiest girls in school why on earth would you mess her around and not treat her like the lady she is, even a hairy alien from the planet melmac knows this, and if while i was going to school and lynn was willing to go out with me, i for one would be in paradise just looking into her beautiful eyes.
