- Damajagua Waterfalls is made up of around 12 waterfalls. These include about 12 waterfalls with the rest being pool and they offer a great day of adventure just outside of Puerto Plata. You'll start your excursion on a 45 minute, challenging jungle hike before getting to the first waterfall. Once there, you can take on 18-foot jumps or slide down natural waterfalls.

Visiting with a guide and wearing a life vest and helmet is mandatory. You can book a tour from your cruise, which typically includes equipment and transportation. Recommendation is that you bring your own water shoes.
Here are some tips to make the most out of your visit:
1. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes that can get wet. You will be hiking, swimming, and jumping in the waterfalls, so it's best to wear clothing that can dry easily.
2. Bring a waterproof camera or phone case to capture the beautiful scenery and your fun experiences.
3. Consider hiring a local guide to lead you through the waterfalls. They can provide you with insider knowledge, ensure your safety, and assist with any language barriers.
4. Drink plenty of water and bring snacks to keep you energized throughout the day.
5. Respect the environment by not littering, being mindful of your impact on the ecosystem, and following the rules set by the park.
6. If you're not a strong swimmer, wear a life jacket. You can rent one at the park for a small fee.
7. Be aware that some of the jumps can be high and may not be suitable for everyone. Listen to your guide's instructions and take your time if you feel nervous.
8. Arrive early in the morning to avoid crowds and the hottest part of the day.

Hi! Are we allowed to do jump?
Yes, there are several spots at the Damajagua Falls where you can jump into the water from different heights. Some of the jumps are as high as 25 feet, but you can also choose to walk around them if you prefer. Jumping at the falls is a thrilling and fun way to enjoy the falls. However, you should always follow the safety instructions of your guide. At the time we went they were not allowing Holland America cruisers to jump as there were Insurance issues. Only the Carnival cruisers were allowed to jump. One thing to note, a woman broke her foot when she fell while walking on the trail. They brought in a donkey to carry her out 😪

Have a great time. You might consider taking water shoes as you will need them when walking over the rocks. We used Columbia Drainmaker Breathable Water Shoes as they are more durable then other beach shoes.
How long was it to walk there?
It took about 40 minutes to walk from the entrance to the start of the tour (first jump) but the guides took breaks along the way. Then it took about another 1.5 hours to go through all the falls. In total I would say the entire tour took about 3 hours. It goes uphill in some spots and there are rest areas where you can sit down while the guide talks.
