I am old school. When someone wants a sketch or pic, I just draw it. Most of my drawings and paintings were done to bring joy to someone, esp patients. Also, i draw faint lines similar to yours to measure. I have a difficult time teaching others how to draw bc it's somthg i just do. You did well explaining the freehand technique. Btw.. your hair was a tad distracting lol I didn't realize that I pull my hair up when I'm drawing until now. I guess it's just habitual. I appreciate that other ppl still do freehand. Ty for sharing.

I would just like to give some advice here - you should try not to touch the paper with your fingers or wipe away eraser crumbs with your hand the oil on your fingers will leave a mark when shading. Great tutorial.
@Allysa Abesamis How do I freehand draw the contour, lines, curves accurately? For example the nose is very curvy how do I make the exact curve or line?
please stop making art tutorials with music overtop of the whole video, it's SO annoying for headphone listining. You are by far not the only one doing it , but if it's instructional not a timelapse fade out the music to nothing so we can hear your voice, even the strokes of the pencil gives people a sense of how hard you are pressing on the page.

This method won't be easy if you don't have a Tablet
In my child and teen days I was pretty good at freehand. I'm going to start back and see if I still got it. Drawing was always peaceful to me.

grid is good but freehand is hard but better because u will really improve with it more than grid

it doenst really have to be exact just close
Grid method is more accurate than freehand grid method is very useful specially when you make commission portrait
Free hand is better, you will have more understanding of your subject and it's structure if you do free hand.
I dont know but Im losing emotions and connection with the subject when there is grid.
