Hi i have created bare metal backup through guidelines of your earlier video but while trying to recover through this video steps i am getting error that it unable to find backup image. I have copied windows backup image folder from sharer folder to usb flash drive. Kindly suggest solution
I have stored the image on another disk attached to the VM. The wizard will automatically find the disk (image). If the wizard is unable to find the image, you can use wbadmdin command line utility to specify the location of the image to restore.
Physical will be similar, maybe even easier - just have your Windows 2019 'recovery media' and press the right keyboard button at bootup, such as F2 - whichever button gets you to the BIOS; then you can boot directly from your USB or DVD drive, where you have your recovery media. Choose exact same 'Recovery' options in this video, such as "restore from latest image" - be sure you have your 'restore image' on an external USB drive; and, if the external drive has the proper, recognized format, with a folder called "WindowsImageBackup," then the windows restore process will locate that image and ask if you want to restore. Be sure and choose proper "target" disk where you want the OS re-installed; i.e., your new 'blank' C: drive, and the rest will be just as described in the above video.
Boss I have the only AD 2016 in my network.. 2 hdd failed, i have AD back up around 10 GB.. when i am restoring it after restoration 2016 crashes and no error while restoring but after restarting os does not work...please help have 700 users have back up but not able to restore ad..
You sure your backup was healthy? 1. If possible try to restore the DC in Virtual Machine and check what happens next. 2. Can you be more specific what happens after restoration complete? 3. Try to boot server in Directory Service Restore Mode.
@@MSFTWebCaststep 1 i have not tried .Step 2 after restoration it goes to troubleshooting window in each and every mode ( safe , active directory restore mode etc. ) techdirectarchive.com/2021/04/04/reset-a-crash-system-and-perform-system-state-of-active-directory-using-windows-server-backup-utility/ Refer part 2 that's what exactly hapening.
In that article part-1 and part-2 are two different ways to restore the backup. Why dont you try the first method which is easy to follow. 1. Perform Clean Installation of Windows Server 2019. 2. Install Windows Server Backup Feature and AD DS service. 3. Boot Into DSRM mode. 4. Attach the backup drive to the server 5. Perform the restoration. Make sure next time server boot into normal mode. Is this process works for windows 2012 r2?
where was the image file store so the wizard could find it? the image disk was attached to vm during setup?
