... now that you mention it...
You can also hear some sadness in there if you listen closely. It's more obvious in Salem's theme. It's proving what you find out later. Wilfre isn't COMPLETELY bad, that makes him more menacing in a way. For the first game he's definitely a villain, but in the second one I think he's more of an anti-hero. (A bad guy who does stuff for a good cause (in Wilfre's case, saving the Raposa from being wiped out of existence.))

What is New Born?
I knew Sock was Wilfre since watersong. I noticed Sock was always gone whenever "Salem" showed up, so I thought Sock was Salem. And then Salem said something along the lines of: "Wilfre? Sounds like a handsome guy" And then he was Wilfre yadayadayada.
This game is great! Definitely Underrated. And this is definitely the catchiest villain song I've ever heard in a game (not counting boss music) I kinda wish they stuck with DTL instead of Scribblenauts...
Yeah, One thing I also don't understand, is that Sock is standing next to Jowee when Mari makes her getaway after shredding pages from the book of life, then Jowee after Sock's reveal doesn't believe that Mari is Mari, even though Wilfre would have needed to split in two if that were the case...

i often find myself wishing drawn to life was more popular, but at the same time it might be at least partially a good thing that it isn't super popular, because if it was a big thing rather than the relatively niche series it is, this bastard would 100% be a tumblr sexyman, and i don't think i could cope with living in the world where he is

:Notes: My personal theory is that Wilfre and Circi were together, Wilfre being an adventurous Rapo, while Circi being a cautious and neurotic Rapo. They were together, but broke up. And after it was over, Wilfre *TRAVELED THE WORLD TO FIND HER.* But was heartbroken yet again when they weren't reunited... I like this theory because it gives him an extra 'push' to write in the book, to *WRITE OVER HIS STORY* in order to change the outcome. But, you remember what happened when he wrote his own creations in the book to see what would happen right? They came out dark... Twisted...

He thought he could do better. A god punished him for it. He has every right to be angry at the fact that he just sucks at drawing.
The world is fucked either way. Either at Wilfre’s hands, or by the hands of the Creator. In his pursuit to save the world he drained the world of life, color, and people. He is destroying the world too. In his pursuit to save the world, he ruined all that made it worth saving, and with that broken world, Mike’s life would have been taken, too.
*SPOILERS!*
You don't hear this theme too often, do you? You hear it once back in the old village, once during the Salem reveal in Watersong, once when Mari tries to destroy the Book of Life, and once during the Sock reveal. Then again, you didn't hear it much in the first game either.

The one thing that broke me was how hopeless Mari was before the climax of this game. It just broke my heart.

A game that not only stuck with me, but all of you, who return to this video long after this comment. A game that stayed in our hearts, as we continued to harbor our care for it. One of the best stories told, by the most memorable cast of characters, complimented with only the finest of soundtracks. We thank you 5th cell for the memories that we made. I usually didn't skip the conversations but hearing wilfre chuckle before vanishing gave me spine chills because he sounds so normal but then you see his outside and you expect a demonic laugh

Mmmm that discordinant piano at 30 seconds. So perfect and so fitting for Wilfre.
Also, anyone ever think about the double meaning with the title "Drawn to Life" and how Wilfre, who may as well be the main character for all his importance in the story, is primarily motivated by preserving his own and everyone else's lives (and the "life" of his world)? How he is the only character who, in the end, just doesn't want to die. It's almost as if the games were deliberately named after him. The only characters who can really be called "drawn to life" are the mannequin "protagonist," for literally being brought to life through drawing, and Wilfre, who is obsessively and tragically attached to life.
My conclusion: Wilfre is the real protagonist and the games are actually named after him.

I didn’t played DtL : TNC but know that Wilfre is back make me smile
wilfre is actually one of the best fucking villians ever conceived, the story Drawn to life had was some dark and depressing shit my god looking back at it now that im 23 years old and i can see just how actually fucked the story was.
I'm going to be honest, the Salem reveal wasn't expected but not surprising. But Sock hit me hard, like looking back there WERE signs but nothing as explicit as Salem. Salem had that off handed comment of Wilfre which was a "ok he's deflecting". But Sock had almost no build up, and unlike Disney twist villains, THIS hurt considering how Sock really felt like Jowee's friend, having nice moments together, hanging with us in the Space Ship. But then to find out it's Wilfre all along HIT me HARD. It was out of left field and made me question who I can trust in the game, could I trust Mari, Crazy Jay, Mike? I just had no idea, it was gut punch for me and it gave me a SERIOUS reality check that this game wasn't going to pull any punches and I had to brace for impact, and when we got to Wilfre's place, I felt like I had no idea how it would end. Then the conclusion as everyone gave up as Jowee was gone and the Hero was alone was heart wrenching. Then to find the mayor come back to help us out. Now I actually didn't know who this guy was, as I only played the 2nd game not the 1st, but I knew from Mari this was her father, then we finally confront Wilfre and to say I was excited was an understatement, but also skeptical, I had at this point felt as every expectation was subverted (oh how fast that aged), Wilfre final cavern was not only the most expensive in Color Drop which showed me how much color was drained, but the 3 levels and the final were an absolute GAUNTLET to get through, everything I had learned were put to the test and I was READY. It took a few tries until I finally got in to the boss room. Then Wilfre man handles me, COMEPLETELY dumbfounding me, like I expected it to be somewhat difficult and Wilfre was OP and I KNEW that. But for him to manhandle me like a child, which forced the Creator, ME!, to get involved was harrowing it showed desperation, stakes, trial of hope. It all came down to this, and FINALLY Wilfre backed into a corner pulled his final trump card, his ULTIMATE CREATION. And it was BOSS alright, not only with bad ass music and me at the wall at times and on certain attempts one HP, it had a banger conclusion. Heather the one we fought for was back. Then we get the end credits scene that I cried to.

Why would we be able to hear that if we were just a construct of Mikes mind? We are God in their world, a God who entered Mikes mind in order to reunite him with his sister.
