My father poured gas from a jar on his BBQ grill fire. The fire instantly ran back up the poured gas and into the bottle. He threw it behind him where I was standing and caught my tee shirt on fire. I was 12 years old and had enough sense to pull my shirt off over my head. Fortunately that action extinguished the flame. Burned eyebrows, eyelashes and hair singed. I’ll NEVER forget that and always worry when I see someone pour Gas on a Fire. 🔥 🔥 🔥
Eh, well, 'necks have a high pain tolerance. Never ceases to amaze me what they will risk for some kind of rush.
That was diesel not gas.
The dog rocking up at 6.00 and finding a safe spot under a stationary vehicle made my day.
Nathan, that view of the mountains in the distance at 1:35, just stunning.
Always like seeing the South Georgia mill. Good times.
Yes sir
Absolutely they always having something amazing to share,
I'm glad you made it through SC alright, we're thinking about changing our state symbol to a pothole.
I noticed that
I live in GA about a mile from SC line, abundant source of potholes all the way to 77 north LoL
Watching here 10pm UK time. Love a good fire to keep warm. Also love your choice of backing music Nathan.
Good timing! We'll have to see what Mike has to say about that burn pile!
Mike?
@@OutoftheWoods0623 My buddy back here. You gave him a quick comment about the burn pile way back at last years Paul Bunyon if you recall.
10-4
Nathan, my wife, and I love watching your content. Her being Sicilian, she says he gets to go away, I hope Nathan's wife gets some payback for it. I said, "Yeah, she gets peace and quiet ," with him being gone. I said maybe Nathan get some peace and quiet. I just might be kicked out of the big bed for a couple of nights for that statement. I'm blaming you, brother!
Great video, Nathan.
Enjoyed the travelogue, and the kibitzing between Robert, you and Jake.
Thanks so much!
I hope you mean your SECOND favorite sawmill.😋
Reminds me of the Eddiie Murphy stand-up routine where he tells of his uncle saying "Gimmee that can o gazaleen" which he then empties onto the bbq briquets ......"Whoosh!" "Now, THAT's a fire!"🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
“Roll Cholly ‘round, he be aight”
Don t ever use gasoline unless you want to get burned diesel
3 of my main men that i follow on here 3 gentleman with great skill at the sawmill
Great video Nathan. Enjoyed seeing you and catching up. For the record that was diesel I put on the fire. I'm not crazy enough to do that with gasoline.
Whenever I see these big bonfires, I think of all the biochar that could be created. Simply burn till charred, wet down till cool, and spread the char over a garden or field. Think of all the layers a sawmill could build up into topsoil, the original black gold.
Always learning and sharing. Good Nathan.
Always a great visit with Big Jake and his amazing mill, LT70's burning the candle at both ends, nothing like quarter sawing a 10,000 pound monster of an oak. Yoga Yoda too funny, Hobby Hardwoods. Always a great time at Jake Georgia King Mill.
Yes sir
I'm in upstate NY. When the eclipse happened my sister, her husband and I drove over two hours north to be right under it. Sadly, we ended up being under a bunch of clouds also even though it was supposed to be the clearest sky place in the state to see it . While driving I saw a mill that had scraps cuts piled outside . I told them about how people lose their minds when you burn yours . I told them you can't even give the stuff away and those that say they'll take it never show up. I told them I find it hard to believe that a campground wouldn't want to come and get it . For outside fires it doesn't matter what kind of wood it is . But then ,they'd want you to cut into 16 inch pieces .
There's a road between the village I grew up in and the next village in the next county over where the rail road and secondary highway run tight to the river . I first noticed the road sign almost 50 years ago when I started driving . It's pretty much just a driveway for one house . I assumed the name of the road was the original people that lived there name .I started watching you maybe three or four years ago. One day after I started watching you I was driving by and saw the sign.. All of the bells started dinging in my head. It all came to me. The road's name is Sawyer Rd . Dah! The lumber industry was huge here 200 years ago. The lumber in the US Capitol building came from here . The 60 foot oak keel for the US Monitor was cut and milled about a mile from my house . A lot of ship mast were cut here . The US government gave a huge contract out to that mill to cut oak for the Civil War wagons and caissons ect because the oak was according to them, the finest in the country .
Thanks for sharing Nathan safe travels back home have fun
Thanks 👍
Could the scrap from the mill be turned into wood chips for garden mulch? Just seems a waste to burn it.
Again..just in time for evening 'offee.😊
Perfect!
I am running behind, so it was Tuesday morning offee for me.
Those slats make awesome deer stands. Wish I were closer.
Thanks for sharing.
You bet
Very nice meeting you this weekend at Jakes!

When you were at the rest area exit 1 on hwy 26, landrum you were 15 mins away from my sawmill. Maybe ill catch you next trip through. 😅
Fun video 👏🇺🇸
Great videos, keep em coming. You said you wish you had yellow pine back home, if you did how would you market the lumber?
Hi Nathan, Hope your trip was good and didn't have trouble getting around Hot Lanta. John
It was!
Yellow pine is used in the construction of Dollar Stores
sounds about right
Brother in Law walked by a campfire that was out the night before with a can of gasoline fire ran up from the fire pit Major burns
Sister had to drive him 60 miles to the nearest hospital for burn treatment he still has the scars on his right shoulder to this day
that was diesel not gas, would have had a larger flash point of it was gas he threw,
thanks for watching
There is a commercial saw mill in Darlington, SC. A lot of logging go😅on right now.
Nice!
MM77 Approved 👍🏼👍🏼
Confirmed
gasoline is no joke
even other less farmable fuel ⛽ can be just as dangerous under right conditions
we always mixed old motor oils with gas to slow down the flash
What about press board?
The fire needs an underground Air supply in that will go up and smoke quick
We call them Mini-Walmart's in my neck of the woods.
We have 3 dollar stores 0ne Family Dollar and A Everything just a dollar, then there is walmart, POP Shelf just moved out and shut down in Toccoa GA Then there is all the Indian owned convenience stores and Motels
@@johnaddis1022 Fortunately we are not that dense out here. We have 2 different dollar stores within a quarter mile. Wally World is about 30 miles away.
As long as you got a good fire suppression system on standby, why not?
That dog looks like a blue heeler Australian cattle Dog
It is
I'm surprised you don't have a 12v coffee maker mounted in your ute.
Goals
Don't see the link to " Hobby Hardwood".
👋🏼
If properly placed a fire ain't gonna hurt nothin.
🍿🍿🍿
Fire is the biggest threat to a saw mill just saying
No marshmallows?
How many comments will Nathan get about smashing the elevator buttons like morse code?
lol my goal!!!
@@OutoftheWoods0623 Old Police Officer Trick!
G'day from Oz, been watching you for a long time and completely enjoying your channel. Good stuff. My father served in WW2 in Trobuk (he was one of the Rats of Trobuk) and it got very cold one night; he threw petrol on the fire from a can and got life scarring burns across his chest from flashback - not good at nineteen years old. As I said, like your channel but please don't show dumb-arse actions as I watch with my grandchildren to give them some idea of what the world is outside Australia so they are prepared when they go exploring themselves. On the other hand, maybe its good they see what stupid is. Thanks for your channel.
I burn my slabs in my cook stove
Way not just chip it up at the saw mill it's great for chicken farmers chicken runs
