"Paraben free... not that I care." 😂😂😂 as a former The Body Shop employee I SO appreciate your stance on parabens. Your sort of rant about parabens is actually what made me trust your channel. So many people in the RUclips community seem hard to trust but you're so informed and so well versed in your field. My husband, who is a biochemist/chemical engineer, also appreciates your stance on parabens and knowledge of acids lol.
My brain always does a happy dance when one of your videos posts - there could be months...years...between and it would still happen.

I feel your pain: when Goldwell stopped making their Light Kiss hair spray (10-12 years ago?), I searched the internet and bought EVERY CAN I COULD FIND. I'm happy to say that I'm still using it (6 cans left) and sad that I still haven't found anything better.

I totally feel you about the zero prep before Empties Caroline, I was actually thinking about this earlier. Someone suggested that I should write notes about the products in case I forget, but sometimes if you can't remember a product, that really says a lot. I think your feelings about Empties need to come from the heart

Love! Welcome back. You were missed. Question: preventative products for hormonal cystic acne? To maybe stay ahead of them
It's really hard but the only thing you can really control is your diet. Kill sugar and processed foods immediately xx
It's also great to assess your gut function. One of the single most important thing you can do is get the gut sorted. Caroline is totally spot on with sugar and processed foods. This is where I'd go into lots of questions about your poo....but I won't. haha. If you have any issues with pooing daily or excessive gas, or even smelly gas, then there's a link to your hormonal acne. Things like an unhappy gut (or even dehydration) can take a small hormonal problem and make it a big hormonal problem. There are two things I would always recommend to clients with hormonal acne. Getting the gut sorted, so probiotics (3 months solid) of 30 Billion cultures or more. Some people respond really quickly and others it takes awhile. Consistency is totally key though. This helps lower the inflammation in the body and therefore the "activity" of your acne. The other is Exuviance's Night Renewal Hydragel. Greatest acne moisturiser I've used....in treatment and in recommendations. But use it only at night. It's a combo of mandelic acid and polyhydroxy acids. So kills bacteria and hydrates....meaning it doesn't dry out the skin. Not a commercial here, I know Caroline well, just really works. :)
I want to address both of your suggestions. I try to avoid processed foods overall (sometimes easier said than done) but I have been having more sugar lately than I tend to which would explain a flair up. I only ever get one at a time and usually once a month to once every two months. (Yes I do know I'm FAR luckier than most people who deal with them) only ever on my chin as well which I'd read recently is related to gut health. I drink water religiously and try to eat a high fiber diet/supplement fiber as needed but I haven't tried probiotics yet. I remember reading on an old blog post that you had suggested probiotics as well, Caroline. I may try that to see if it helps. I use the framboos glycolic serum from drunk elephant for my exfoliant but I could definitely try that moisturizer and see if it makes a difference. I have also considered cutting out dairy to see if that helps at all. But I think I'd be miserable without cheese
I would be miserable without cheese also. When doing eliminations, make sure you only do one thing at a time. Probiotics are an amazing way to get the gut sorted, and not something you need to do forever. Sugar, whey protein (and isolate), soya and dairy can all contribute to making a condition worse. With the Night Renewal Hydragel, you can try using it a week prior to your period, or ovulation (depending on when that dreaded spot likes to rear it's ugly head) and that way you can continue with the Drunk Elephant the rest of the month. I can't rave enough about the Hydragel. I am turning 50 in a few months, as an example. I haven't had a break out in over 20 years, although I did have cystic acne in my 20's (before becoming a clinician), so I know how awful it can be. Anyway, I am in full throttle menopause (hateful beast) and woke up recently with about 50 spots on my face. Yes, 50 low level spots. Overnight. Shocker of the century. I started using the hydragel that evening, and 4 days later they are all gone. I am lucky because I have access to some of the best skincare out there, so was able to jump on it immediately. As a sidebar, my perimenopausal gut is super unhappy at the moment, so I'm sorting that as well. My results are particular to me, and unfortunately there is no magic blanket answer. Although Caroline's cheat sheets are amazing. Start simple. Before giving up on dairy, try the probiotics and the Hydragel. It's a really effective combination.
Spearmint tea drunk or in capsule form is popular in some online skincare communities. I don't use it but when I get either a cyst or nodule Jurlique's Skin Balancing Facial oil will clear it within three days. I'm not sure if its a specific ingredient like evening primrose oil or the omega fatty acid balance that works the magic. But you're looking for prevention so I don't know if that's useful info.

Glad to see you back and I read on the blog everyone is on the mend. I just wanted to say the DE Shaba Complex in Sephora in Canada has the same pump as the other products. So maybe they changed the packaging since you bought yours? Or maybe it's different for different companies. But I know they changed the pump for the C-Firma to the new pumps ages ago and now the eye one is as well here... and Canada is usually last to get everything!

That Fresh sugar lemon is my ish, my jam and it's the bomb! Layer it all you want, it will NOT last but, it is wonderful none the less! It also layers well over other perfumes. Sorry for those that can't stand lemon but I love it!

Hi Caroline. You may want to try Joico Color Endure Violet Shampoo & Conditioner. I bought them as a present for a close friend who was on the hunt for a toning shampoo and condition for her bleached hair and she now swears by them and is on her 3rd if not 4th repurchase. Her hair feels soft, yet still has grip to it and it does a great job of toning the blond and prolonging her colour. I'm going to purchase some of the Pureology range and I'm glad you posted a link to where I can buy it. Also, very glad to hear that your son is on the mend.
