I loved Lorna Doone!♥️ it’s slow, but so beautifully written. It made me laugh but tugged at my heart as well.
I read it 2 years ago & still think about the landscape of it and the sweeping narrative ☺️

Lorna Doone was already on my radar but I really ought to get to it. I desperately need some whimsical, fairy-tale like fun because I'm suffering right now with my upcoming reads. Suffering in the good way but still 😭

"My guy, R. D. Blackmore"--not sure if that phrase has ever been uttered--until now. I enjoyed this discussion, having myself just read an obscure Victorian novel. I wonder what you'd think of Waverley.

Loooool the stuff I say sometimes 🤣 I don’t even realize it until I’m editing. I’ve heard of Waverly. I’ll have to look into it

Oops, Waverley! Corrected. Walter Scott tried his best to write at least one book you'll want to read. @@alanaestelle2076

My mom named me Lorna; she read it as a kid but not the book she said was like comic books but romance books. Anywho a sunset in the story back in the 40’s ish gave me my name!😊

I'm definitely adding this book to my tbr. If you want to read more fast-paced Victorian novels in the future, I would definitely recommend looking into some of the lesser known Wilkie Collins books. Like Lorna Doone, some of his books are long, but they really don't feel that way.

I've not read this in ages! Brilliant review. Loved the book more than the TV series; though Aidan Gillen played a convincing Carver.

Thank you!! That tv series … it’s definitely quintessentially 2000 🤣

You make it sound interesting! Though I'm a bit distracted looking at your Elizabeth Taylor stack.

This is really encouraging as in the last few years I've only heard pretty negative opinions about this one. I have it waiting on my shelf :)

I’m glad you found this encouraging!! It’s definitely a product of it’s time, and that’s what I found so endearing about it.

I'm adding it to my tbr! It's been on my radar, but I've never really considered picking it up. You've convinced me! And Dickens liking the sound of his own pen! 🤣
